What does the chip do?
From my understanding it tells the Note 3 that it's a legit S View case. The original knockoff cases had the dimensions but S view didn't work without a chip of some sort so no mini display or camera viewfinder.
Whether or not these work - well you have to wait and see!

Yep, it activates the S-View features in the phone (switches off most of the screen and turns on the info window)
I may be wrong, but the chip the rep is referring to "This case has chip in the back" is for wireless charging. We don't have that in the original Samsung back cover.

There is no mention at all of induction charging, couple this with the fact that it mentions several times about the S-View features we probably shouldn't assume it has the induction function. Not even the genuine cases have both of these functions in a single case.

That's cheap… I previously couldn't find a working one on ebay, but I guess it wouldn't be long till someone finally sell it on there.
I've just received my from taobao (http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=22538127243), a bit more expensive! (doh, there are much cheaper, working ones now) But from the pictures, you can see the chip for the smart view functions is definitely there.
I haven't tried it yet though since I've just ordered the note 3. Should know in a few days.
Bearkeroo, the induction charging probably wouldn't work on this case.
I agree, I was saying its safe to say that there is no induction feature here. Cart was suggesting that there was.
