Wish Gift Cards via Work Life NAB and Strategic Rewards - 1% surcharge for payments from credit cards?

Hi all. I've been purchasing Wish Gift cards via Work Life NAB and Strategic Rewards with 5% discount for a few years by now.
What I noticed today while making a payment onlne is that they have 1% surcharge for payments made from credit cards.
I called them and they said that they introduced the fee on 1st July 2013.
But I remember purchasing a few gift cards in August and that time there was not any credit card surcharges.
I want to keep using my credit card to earn reward points, but it looks like that 1% surcharge will ruin it.

Does anyone know if there is any way to use a credit card for payments and avoid that 1% surcharge ?

    Use Entertainment book… no surcharge, not even if you use Amex.

    Thanks for advice, mate. But Entertainment books are not free, aren't they ?

      The Melbourne book is $60 but worth its weight in gold if you use it.

        Thanks. I do not need Melbourne one as I live in Adelaide, but I like your idea about usage of an Entertainment book.

    I believe worklife lets you to pay by bpay which skips on the surcharge

      How many rewards points will that give?

    Unfortunately none. They introduced the surcharge in order to recap the cost they can no longer "absorb" so you can't really get away with the credit card charge.
