They are different things. This is a VPN (so all your traffic goes through it) while Unblock/Unotelly/Getflix are all 'smart' DNS servers that fool the authentication server of Netflix/Hulu/whatever into thinking you're in a country that allows streaming to. Once you've passed that check, the stream comes directly to your connection.
Ok quick lesson in laymans terms.
VPN = renting a computer and you're routing your Internet through that computer, so it inherits the IP of that computer in that country. 'Tunneling Traffic"DNS = substitutes websites that are blocking users based on countries - this is mostly for streaming services users.
My opinion:
VPN is more heavily at the mercy of the provider and congestion, good provider and there isn't an issue, think Telstra vs Vodafone for phone coverage. VPN can do more but DNS although limited is a streamlined process. I use both and for streaming like Netflix use DNS.Advice: don't get this just for Netflix, wait until Cyber Monday deals pop up for DNS providers. Look at unblockUS, unotelly, smartyDNS, StrongDNS.
For Netflix you can use the Chrome extension Proxmate or Hulu. No need for a vpn. I got a vpn to buy Steam games in Russia region for cheaper.
As the Australian Senate encouraged us to do. :)
i signed up with incloak for 1 year for $22 48 servers in over 30 countries and unlimited
My current VPN subscription literally ends today, though might as well wait till Cyber Monday to see if anything better pops up, hopefully with a wider range of servers. I'm with Astrill atm and they're absolutely great, but on the expensive side.
I've tested most of the major players, Hidemyass, PureVPN etc, and Astrill always come out best for server speeds, they are a little more expensive but worth every cent IMO.
I haven't bothered to test this provider (vpnintouch.com) because they don't have servers in Australia, and I like to access aussie content when overseas.
How does StrongVPN go? I tried Hidemyass and it wasn't as fast for me as StrongVPN (but it was far from a scientific test)
I didn't test them because they are way too expensive for plans that offer full access to servers and protocls. To get the equivalent of Astrill they are asking around 5 times the price.
Astrill charge $70 per year, StrongVPN for the equivalent plan with access to all servers and protocols charge $171 per 6 months ($342 per year). I connect at 8mbit and Astrill always give me maximum speed, with servers everywhere, so the only reason to look elsewhere is price.

you must be a happy bloke now that you waited :)
Using OctaneVPN, their windows app is AWESOME and allows location switching instantly and they have hundreds of servers in aussie capitals, but they only provide openvpn config files and instructions for other OSes. I pay $5 a month unlimited through one of the Thudernews 10GB News plus unlimited VPN Deals https://www.thundernews.com/welcomeback.php
Hmm
Any thoughts on This vs unblock us ? Mostly for Netflix streaming
