Do these work? As in, is the fried food any good?
(and by good, I mean bad (but in a good-bad way))

well eating my 'fried' potato atm n its pretty good crispy on the oputside squishy on the inside

      • You can airfry a whole potato?

        • sliced of course
i think taht airfrying a whole potato will result in the centre being uncooked :/

        • You can stab them! http://youtu.be/u0QrOoxJYiU

I bought a very similar knock-off from Coles for $59 a few months back thinking it might be a gimmick, but it's been far better than expected and we use it three or four times a week now. Makes really crispy chicken nuggets and chips (bought from ALDI for next to nothing) without adding any oil. I also use it for wedges, BBQ chicken wings, and drumsticks. It also cooks fresh fish really well. I bought a couple of kilo packs of dim-sums and simosas on special a few weeks back, they cook really well in it, much better than in the oven. Everything is super crispy, which is very tedious to do in an oven and takes two or three times longer.

I used to drive up the street for a snack when I woke up starving at 3am. But now I can cook nuggets at home faster than driving up the street to Maccas, finding parking, waiting in the queue, ordering, waiting for food then driving back. From memory an entire pack of 20 nuggets from ALDI is cheaper than a six pack of nuggets from Maccas. I'd tried cooking nuggets in the normal oven before, but if you don't keep turning them often they end up soggy on one side, and never as crispy as they should be.

    • Cheers. Here's a feature comparison of the newer XL vs the HD9220/40:
      http://www.philips.com.au/c/airfryer-frying-without-oil/1827…

      • Not much of a difference other than the capacity and timer function

      • Yes I am wondering how can XL be just slightly larger and at the same weight (7kg) yet providing 50% more capacity. The DealsDirect one — people either love it or "worst purchase ever" not really sure which one to believe for an unbranded product. The other one is Kogan's Airfryer for $89 + postage. May wait for Kogan's free delivery day for that.

        • I got the Eurolab one from DealsDirect and its a very good unit
My friend who owns the Tefal Actifry says my one is better

  • If Target stock is finished then in that case TGG also have this on Special for the same price

    • Good guys sell the next model - HD9225 vs this HD9220. I think only change is the extra baking tray. If you are mostly doing frying it may not be reqd.

This same exact model is available in BigW for 178 ($21 less). I bought one today and happy with the way french fries turned out. Not as tasty as oil deep fry, but way better than a conventional oven. At least this looks and smells like oil fried :) Only problem is inside doesn't cook as perfect as oil. But eatable with less guilt, considering it wasn't bathed in oil..

  • Bought this from HN 1 year ago for 198. Thought that is normal price?

  • I bought one from Target, and I am happy with my purchase. It actually works, not as good as deep fry though.

  • Sure I saw one of these for $179 at bigw instore last week
