Sony CDXGT520U In-Car Head Unit SRP $129 NOW $74 on JB Hi-Fi Plus $9.95 Shipping Anywhere in AUS

21

been looking around for a digital analog radio for my car and came across this on JB's website

pretty good price for a digital analog radio analog considering the jvc is $198 at JB Hi-Fi

There seems to be some discrepancy on whether this is equipped with digital radio or not. Official specs say no however JB says yes. Official manual says no

Have used Sony car audio gear in several cars. It's not exactly high end, but for most people its fine.

Edit: as per other comments, I don't think this has a digital radio though. Specs from the Sony site don't mention it either, and its a discontinued model so likely an older one:

  • It's not a digital radio (ie DAB), just standard car stereo CD player…

But the JVC for $198 is. I think the OP may have misread

You actually need DAB+ in Australia, a DAB only receiver will not work is my understanding.

  • Are you sure it's a Digital Radio receiver or just analogue? I'm not seeing any mention of it being a DAB receiver. Otherwise I might be inclined to snap one up too at this price!

  • Unless you are stuck with a stack of legacy media :), this is better: (bluetooth, no disc)

I'm negging to highlight that this is not a DAB+ head unit.. Not to scare off the Learner OP.
Happy to renege my neg when the post is edited, but some may jump on it based on the description without realising what they're actually buying.

  • Digital Clarity Tuner probably doesn't mean DAB/DAB+. It may simply mean that they use digital processing on analogue FM signals.

  • Actually, it is Digital Radio, DAB+ equipped. That link doesnt mention it, this one does

    • But look up the official specs, I'm 99% positive jb have it wrong this time

  • we have one of these. the radio works.

    • From the Sony website, the radio may work but they are not DAB+ (which is what is being discussed) digital and that effects its price.

      • and that's a very urbane reality with DAB Tuba. DAB on the move in the countryside is useless. Hence my point - the radio works
