It feels like its been a long time since we had a good computer build on OzBargain

I have been thinking about upgrading one of the kids' computers at home and have been waiting on a good deal.
It seems like its been awhile since we had a good offer going.
So computer places - where are your best deals for Christmas?

(bloody hell I just realised, we have got two desktops, my laptop, and two Google Nexuses (Nexii?) in my house, not to mention the smartphones and ipod all with internet access… when I was a kid I had a Commodore 64 and considered myself quite lucky)

arrr the good old c64 with the tape deck

DIY out of the question i assume?

    **edit
    perf…sorry cant help there

    • C64 tape deck…… I seem to remember Robocop! …..and hey tape deck's could play normal cassettes too!

  • Nope - not only is it not an option but the good deals here generally work out cheaper than building yourself.

  • Yes I wonder what have the reps of cplonline, mrpcgeek and cnettech been doing. We had quite a few desktop computer builds in October and earlier this month.

Tell you kids "Santa is late this year (again) so you'll be getting a better gift than all your friends combined!" and wait for the specials lol

  • My desktop died about 2 weeks ago, and I waited over a week to see what specials came up here on ozbargains, but nothing did, so I scoured the internet and ended up buying one of the gaming pc's, not that I game but I wanted a fairly decent pc, so I got it from here… didn't think the prices were too bad

Poor mobo's, horrific cases and laughable CPUs? Sounds about right. Build a PC OP. You can whip up a $400 office/kids build in less than 10min:

      • G1610 - $44
      • B75 mobo - $60
      • 4GB RAM stick - $35
      • Decent 400-500w PSU - $60 or so (actually reusable not throwaway)
      • Decent case - $70 (ditto)
      • Win 8.1 - $115

$384, cheap out on Windows and its $269. Who needs a deal? And before you ask, these are not the celeron's from 1995, they are perfectly able to handle standard multitasking (not video encoding and 50 porn tabs) and 1080p 25GB mkv rips you may have er obtained. Simple.

  • I would buy from your local MSY, they have fantastic deals.
