forget the nerves, close the deal gil, close the deal.

  • Nice deal.
Would this suit daily head shaving (ie. scalp)? Are there any suitable electric shavers for daily head shaving?

    • I have been using one of those cheap Remington hair cutting kits you can pick up from Target/Kmart for $20-$30 bucks for the last 5+ years to shave my head.

Shave my head twice a month..and it has been going great.

    • burning the midnight oil

    • +2

A hand razor is actually really easy and cheap. If you're doing it twice a month, maybe only $6 a year (2 or 3 blades)

550cc! That's some stubble requiring a motorbike engine!

Good shaver, switched to one of these from a PhiliShave and never looked back…

    • The Philips units USE to be good, but my current one has been replaced 3 times under warranty due to complete failures. The tech said that they are now 'made to a price' and not a standard.

I'll be going with ANYTHING OTHER THAN Philips in future.

  • very nice deal, would jump on this one if I didnt already buy http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/122933

  • I have had electronic shavers in the past but they never did a good job and I need to be clean shaven for my job. Is this one good enough to give a shave like a manual razor?

    • +1

No, I have never used an electric which was as good as wet shaving but this comes closer than most (pun intended!)

      • +1

I have to shave daily to stay clean shaven, and my 7 series does do the job. The main thing to do is shave first thing in the morning, and stretch your skin TIGHT as you shave to get the closest shave.

I don't know if the 5 is the same/as good as the 7 series, so on that I can't comment…

    • …what is your job?

      • +1

I'm a waiter, I have to be clean shaven(managers decision).

        • Sounds illegal to me (maybe?). I would never shave my beard for anyone…never!

    • would rather see his goatee getting shaved

  • Is this from the actual Shaver Shop?
Didn't realise they had an ebay store…

  • Is there high on going costs regarding the cleaning solution? Can't I just wash it in the water after am done? :|

  • I assume that it comes with the charging unit?
Also that it is an Oz stock (240V)?

clicked on the link and up came the notice saying 10 people bought this in the last hour! Ozbargainers no doubt.

    • Yep, I got one.

        • I got two :-P

  • Oh want to buy

A big advantage with this model is that it will run using the cord.

This means not only can you shave if the battery is flat but when the li-ion battery weakens in 3-5 years it will still be usable.

    • I have an old battery/electric Remington shaver with ni-cads that's still going strong and lasts a few shaves on a charge. I'd expect a quality shaver made with quality parts to last much longer than 5yrs

      • So you're saying rechargeable batteries don't wear out from being partially charged and recharged everyday, okay, thanks!

        • +1

Let me tell you that Ni Cads and Li Ions -do- wear out. Would you believe someone if they told you that their tyres don't wear out on their car?

There are a number of tricks that you can do to prolong batteries, depending on the type. A Google search will help you there.

          Some typical tips on batteries,
          - Some need a full charge and full discharge
          - Some only like to be charged to 80% - otherwise, they lose capacity quickly
          - Some suffer badly with heat
          - Some suffer badly if they fully discharge
          - Almost ALL suffer badly from over-charge
          - Some suffer if you don't fully discharge before you charge

          For Li Ion batteries, I
          - Charge to about 80% (or less), especially if you're not going to use them for a while
          - I make sure they are almost fully discharged every few months
          - I don't leave them in a hot place
          - I do not leave them charging overnight

          In other words, YMMV.

My wife's batteries die quickly, mainly because she leaves her devices on charge 24/7 when she's not using them.

There are many references on batteries. Here's one of the first I found on Google,

    • Hmm good, should give me enough time to return it after Christmas if something is wrong with it. (It's a chrissy present!)

  • oh well, I caved in. Bought one too.

  • So which one is better, braun or Panasonic better??? Any suggestions

  • Bought one myself, anyone else get that vocuher code to work?

      What voucher?

      • +1

        As in the OP…

"EDIT: Use coupon code "CPMXNM15" to get another $15ish off. This may or may not work on your paypal account. It will show up that you get $15 off when you put the code in ebay, but when you sign into paypal to complete the purchase, it may or may not allow you to use the code. It didnt let me use it."

    • +1

bought one for 99, I tired using the voucher but its too complicated, it says you should link your ebay account to your paypal account, I tried doing it and got the sms code, still didn't work than couldn't be stuffed so just payed 99.

  • How long do the shaving heads/foils whatever normally last? I've never had an electric shaver before but I read in the reviews on amazon that they don't last long. They are $35 each so seems like a bit of ongoing cost if they don't last long.

Also how long before the hairs get too long to shave with it?

    • +3

I've had my 7 series since Feb, and I shave daily with it, and its still going fine… I'd have used more than $35 worth of mach4's in that time…

    • I'd like to know how long the foil lasts too. I'm also not sure that a foil would be as flexible as a multi head shaver - not sure what the correct name is, but the shaving head is made is segments that can flex individually and so confirm to the shape go your face more easily

My Remington would have to be about 15yrs old - it's still on the original blade set

      • +4

The head on these swivels plus the cutting heads are "springy" so it follows the contours of your face quite well. Personally I find it causes less irritation than a rotary shaver.

    • +1

My foils last 6 months to a year. The razor includes a beard trimmer so if you find it is tugging the hairs you use the beard trimmer first and then shave.

    • +3

shaving heads; how long depends on usage but 12-24 months, shavershop has them for $80+ship, which is laughable when this whole shaver is $99 free delivery. Ebay (OS) does foil and blade for half that.

beard too long; has beard trimmer inbuilt so go once over with that, then shave normally.

  • Anyone know if I can use this to trim/keep stubble ? (Adjustable height)

  • dayum.. the code was a bit late, I ordered it already..it seems to be working when I tried entering the code again..does any one know a way around this? cancel and re order again?

  • Bought, a new set of foils for my old shave was going to cost $30. So $70 for a new razor is good value!

  • Damn!!! I didnt applied the code bc i didnt read the whole post! The price is too good, afraid it's going to go ozbargained! Miss out on the $15 ish further discount!

  • Where on Ebay, I can enter

    " CPMXNM15"

    code?

    • you can enter the code when you checkout with paypal

  • I am trying to use the code but i am getting

This discount is not linked to this PayPal account

  • The code doesn't work with my existing paypal account.
Does anyone know if there is a work around?
Maybe we can create a new paypal account? or pay via direct transfer?

    • +1

I had Googled the code and it may be associated with opening a new Paypal account. Not 100% sure, so I just paid the extra $15.

  • Shaver shop selling something cheaper than Amazon even before postage is a first.

Check here for reviews (mostly positive) http://www.amazon.com/Braun-Series-Shaver-System-Silver/dp/B…

I bought one, can you use this in the car while waiting at the lights or is it going to drop the shavings all over me?

    • The latter lol

  • Bought and +'d.

Shame the discount code didn't work but still a good deal.

  • the discount code is for someone not everyone
the reasion we get the error is the email the code was sent to isnt ours
so the code will NOT WORK at all

    • Thanks!

  • Code doesn't work, bought one anyway

  • +1

I was so tempted to try (I had a top of the line braun 5 yrs ago that I stopped using after 3 months), but electric savers are never as close and clean as a real old school shave

    • Yeah I felt the same way, but thought of a friend I'm sure I can convince to buy from me if I don't like it :)

    • Actually, if you do a wet shave and use shaving cream (with the electric razer), you'd be surprised. Not much difference using my 7 series.

  • Is it a lot better than this one? I might upgrade if it is.

  • +1

how long does the cleaning fluid last?

  • Bought one. Thanks

  • Does this work on wog stubble?

  • Just bought one, thanks. Voucher didn't work :(

They seem to be selling fast.

  • DIscount coupon only works if the coupon is "associated" with your paypal email address.
Still bought one for 99 though…

  • Just bought one. Was literally looking for a electric razor. This is is perfect. Doesn't really seem to be much different between this and the series 7 equivalent, well not enough for the $100+ difference.

    • The cleaning station in the 7 has an auto dry, and the razor has a faster motor meaning it will cut longer hair easier. There is probably more to list, but that's what I could see

  • How well do these devices work on the, er, "nether regions"?

    • +4

      I wouldnt

  • Not sure if I regret buying the recent Amazon one now :/

  • Excellent! One for me too! Thanks OP, nice find.

  • Thank you very much… great timing with Christmas coming up!

  • Irresistible with the 60 days moneyback offer.

  • Picked up one of these. Thanks OP!

The $15 code seemed to be working through both eBay and PayPal, but after selecting ok the final invoice showed $99.

No error code and I'm wondering if that is because $99 is the amount being paid to the vendor, but at the moment, as far as I can tell, I've paid $99.

Still very happy with the deal of course!

  • +1

We have purchased 400 shavers in the last 5 hours. There was around 80 sold when I posted this, and now they have sold 486! That means we have spent roughly $40k on shavers. Can safely say this deal has been ozbargained, considering there is over 96% of the stock sold now.

    • Why?

Surely wholesale would be cheaper than this…

  • Just purchased one, thanks OP, will be my first electric shaver, getting tired of using a wet razor every few days.

  • Sold out
