At this price range, isn't the proper x86 cpu based server a better option? 4 bays, display port, 3 PCIe slots, 6 usb ports…yeah I know ReadyNAS 104 will consume slightly less power, but still…

Buy a PC, and put one of the open-source storage distros on it.
I already have a massive file server, there is a reason I want a neat and tidy 8 bay NAS box.
Save your money and get a synology. i have both and the Netgear is near useless in comparison
