  • Great find for those into contis.

I'd make sure the initial price is right by ringing a few other places first.

      i wouldn't call it a 'sports' tyre if it's only $97…

      • I go straight to the importer…. no middle man with mark up….

        • and how do you do that ?

        • And which importer is this? Even at wholesale prices, this size for $97 would be brands like Nankang, Kenda, Silverstone, etc.
Yes, they're sports tyres, but cheap Chinese ones!

  • Well, how do these stack against Michelin XM2?

    • -1

      Michelin are better.

    • Depends what exact Conti pattern you're talking about. The XM2 is like a standard range for Michi in 70, 65 & 60 series! Premium2 would be just as good and Sports2 would be better for handling! What size, what car, and what do you want out of them (handling, comfort, mileage?)

  • JAX have a price match guarantee too, not that I've ever tried to get them to match someone, but maybe worth looking into for the more adventurous Ozbargainers amongst us!

  • Hi Guys, hoping to get some advice here…

Looking to replace two tyres of my Mazda 323 '98 Model

    • Front Tyre Description : 185/65 R14 86H
    • Rear Tyre Description : 185/65 R14 86H

Any suggestions from where tyre I can buy the tyres and which includes 'fitted and balanced' prices?
    How much it would cost?

    • around $110-120 per tyre for reasonable quality tyre.

      • Thanks, on jaxquickfit website I found this :

        Hankook Optimo H426 $94
        Bridgestone Ecopia EP100 $108
        Pirelli Cinturato P1™ $114
        Dunlop SP Sport 300E $115
        Michelin Energy XM2 $125

Which one you guys suggest? and what about 'fitted and balanced' price generally?

        • What suburb?

        • Hornsby (2072)

        • It was a public holiday in Vic today (where I am). I'll suss out a price on a couple of things from Beau's Hornsby in the morning for you.
Edit: If their price isn't anything great, I'd strongly suggest the Tyrepower there!!!

        • thanks, really appreciate it, please also check 'fitted and balanced' price along with the suggestions on tyres.

Beau Repaires has Goodyear Assurance Armorgrip $95 but not sure if this includes 'fitted and balanced' price.

    • 4 of 185/65 R14

      • ahh, you mean " Dunlop SP Sport 300E $115" ?

any idea 'fitted and balanced' price generally?

  • is the conti comfort really worth $145 for a r16?
I got a quoted $100 per tyre at bob jane in September. I didn't ask for the tyre brand though.

    • We need more than just a 16inch. What size exact, and what type of car?
Ps. Must compare meerkats with meerkats!!!

      • its 215/60 R16. forgot the profile.
        and its an aurion

        • The Aurion is a pretty nice car nowadays. Reasonably quiet and comfortable with a bit of get up and go. I'd suggest keeping something decent on there. If you're budget allows for a better tyre (Conti-Michelin-Pirelli), I'd say get them. Just compare the price overall against some other decent brands!

        • Just checked BJs prices… $99 for some cheap crappy Tri-Ace, $152 for Mich XM2. So if you got a set of Conti for $435 (3 x $145), then I'd be straight onto that!!!
Edit: You'll be happy with them. Toyota fit them OE in 17s on the Aurion!

        • yeah I am thinking of jumping on the contis with this deal. just got to shop around in case theres a better deal. thanks for the advice

        • Just a heads up before you do it… Make sure that you're getting the correct eligible tyre ContiComfortContact5.

  • I had 4 tyres fitted last time this deal was on and I think it's worth it. conti comfort i think it was, grip well

  • Not a bad deal if you can get a good initial quote!!!

  • damn, just car three ?

  • Hmmm.. My car only uses 3 tyres! Guess I'll use the 4th as a spare!

  • Does anyone know how the ContiComfortContact compare to the Bridgestone EP100? The size I'm looking at is 185/65R14. With this deal, the ContiComforts were quoted to me at $382 where as the EP100 were $466 ($50 caltex card already included). Much appreciated.

    • Not much between them. Personally think that the Conti is a little better. And if it's cheaper!!!

  • Received response from bobjane (online rep) :

  • Looks like I'll get these. Not much competition for a 13" wheel.

Just called around, everyone has similar prices so I'll just go to the local Bob Jane I suppose.

  • Rang few stores and best I get for 185/65 R14 86H is from BOB-JANE :
(includes fitting, standard wheel balance, tubeless valves and tyre disposal.)

    • Bridgestone Ecopia EP100 $99
    • Pirelli Cinturato P1™ $109
    • if you go with the bridgestone you should be able to get a $50 fuel card if you buy 4 tyres http://www.bridgestone.com.au/fuel-card/

    • +1

Get a descent tyre as the size you are after is not expensive…..Think twice before you put any crap tyre to save $20 a pop… Previous owner of my current car decided to go with cheap tyres before she sold me the car… (Triangle brand)I had to replace them after only covering 1000km as they wereso noisy…You couldnt have a conversation in the car due to massive tyre noise…

Bridgestone is very good tyre.. and if you can get $50 cash back ..no brainer.. P1 Cinturato is suppose to be ok nowdays as the previous non Centurato are just a touch noisy….

    • Continental's 185/65/R14 86H ContiComfort5 is $114 per tyre fitted and balanced at Bob Jane Melbourne, buy 3 get 4. Called them for a quote last weekend. Booked in to have all 4 changed. $85 per tyre is good value I think, but let me know if anyone thinks otherwise or has a better quote :P

  • Grabbed a set of 205/60 R16 CC5's for $474.00 from BJ Joondalup, WA. Had to ring around a bit (and price match) because the black circle cowboys were charging fairly randomly.

  • Just got quote from Bob Jane Doncaster (Melbourne) for ContiComfort5 225/W55 R16 for $199 each. As it is a buy 3 get one free job then total was $597. They do not do wheel alignment so that was going to be an extra $60 (usually $75).

I got a quote from KTAS for the same tyre back in June for about $242.

They have the tyre in stock near their warehouse and they work Sat and Sun. I'm going to call them back and do my tyres with them tomorrow. Will take an hour apparently.

    Anyone else make any calls?

    Regards
    Daniel

    • If you're getting prices from BJ Doncaster, I'd get a price from JAX in Bayswater also. Got a set of the MC5's fitted for around $290 a corner (x3) when BJ Doncaster quoted me $350 a corner. Looks expensive but that's because of the weird size of 235/50 R18. Most of the top tier brands in this size were in the $300-400 range. I was fully expecting to pay around $1.5k to renew tyres so am quite happy to do so for $900 (inc alignment).

      • Thanks but I ended up going with BJ Doncaster that Sunday. Not sure with Jax but BJs gives free wheel alignment or rotation or something like that after 5000km and I think there were a few other things they offered like free puncture repairs etc in a coupon booklet they gave me. To be honest I just threw it in my glove box and have not looked at it since.

        Regards
        Daniel

        • Fair enough. The last time I got tyres was from BJ (Ferntree Gully) and did get the book, and did get the free 5000km wheel alignment/rotation (can't remember details, sold the car already) done. In my recent purchase, JAX didn't give me any of that.

Ideally you'd get a price from JAX, and then get BJ to price match (which they say they will do, but only with a written quote).

          Current/future tyre buyers take note!
