Hi, I've been on the lookout for a cheaper 4 stroke petrol mower with a name brand engine.
Found a Pope Aurora model 101PM450 on special at Bunnings Altona North. Can't seem to find it on their website, but they had a pallet left when I got mine.

Rang up my local store, never heard of it.. seems to be a one shop clearance by the looks. Needed a mower too, dang!
Looking through the Briggs and stratton Manual, it says I can use a variety of oils. Namely a fully synthetic 5w-30 for the whole temp range. So the Castrol super cheap special came in handy.
Now to get a jerry can and some stabil :-)
Sounds like you are talking about a car motor oil, maybe things have changed but it used to be recommended to not use car oils due to the additives (detergents etc) added which mowers don't need or like. Perhaps a basic one like this won't matter but I made this mistake with a $1500 Honda mower once and it's clutch used to slip and performance wasn't nice. Replaced with the recommended Honda mower oil and problem went in a flash.
But since the manual said you can, I guess I'm wrong or outdated :)
This might be true as I have a GMC mower with the B&S 4stroke motor and the oil was low so i topped it up with good car oil. Now it has been running like crap and wont start. Might need to change the oil and get some mower oil thanks!
Yeah sounds like mower oil could help!
I remember getting a bargain 6L premium car oil years ago and thinking "wow this will last YEARS" and costs the same as 1L mower oil!
Then awhile later I got a new car which used that oil so I eventually put it to good use anyway :)
Called local bunnings. Apparently all stores should have them.

Just used it. Great little mower. Only complaint is the catcher, gets clogged and full easy. Perfect mower for once a fortnight maintenance. I whipper snipped my overgrown yard and then ran the mower over it to pick it up. So it did have to pick up a lot of grass clippings. All in all, happy for the price.

I have seen that thing at masters. It I s literally like a Kids toy.
It would be good for, say a 5sq m patch of lawn in a townhouse yard, that's about it.

Yeah, that is a 99cc engine, this is a name brand 148cc engine. I would spend the extra.
Looking at the reviews n ppl recommendations. .. I might get one today .

CAn you post up the stock number? if we have the stock number we can find out which stores actually stock the item. It not in the catelogue because its not a regular item, its a special purchase

Pretty good price for a brand name engine, should fare better than the cheap Aldi ones recently sold.
Remember to pick up some 4 stroke B&S engine oil whilst you're there.
