From Barber’s searching Adagio for Strings to Mozart’s joyous Piano Concerto No.13, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra rounds out its 2013 season with memorable masterworks traversing the great moods of the chamber orchestra.
Making his return to MCO, Julliard-trained composer and pianist Benjamin Martin displays his striking keyboard virtuosity as he brings Mozart’s sparkling but rarely performed Piano Concerto No.13 to life. Martin’s acclaimed skill as a composer will also be on show in the world-premiere of his new triple concerto, Trinitas.
Elgar’s evocative Serenade provides a moment of wistful contemplation and contrasts with the lyrical virtuosity of Schubert’s most concerto-like work, the Rondo for Violin and Strings in A, D.438.
