$50 Credit for Naked Wines (Min $100 Spend) + Discounted Prices

490

$50 credit, similar to http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/119742 except you also get the preferential Angel pricing for your first order without having to become an Angel.

There has been some talk in past deals of them strong arming you into becoming an Angel but I found everything very clear when I signed up, and I like the idea of money going direct to winemakers without too many middle men. Wine has been good so far too.

  • What is shipping for this deal?

Edit: Looks like free delivery for Sydney metro areas.

    Thanks OP!

Wow, $29.99 for a dozen bottles - and the clear option to say 'no, I will not become an angel', I'm pretty happy with that!
    Thanks op.

  • Thanks OP. 6 bottles for $4 :)

Looks like I got 3x Engine Room The Mechanic Shiraz 2012 and 3x Engine Room The Mechanic Chardonnay Semillon 2012 for $0 delivered.

I ordered and now asked about some refund. Every time I re-read it, I get more confused. Can anyone explain this please?

    • I pressed Yes and I was given another $50 voucher.

      • Note that means you have become an 'Angel', they will take $40/month from your account which you can use to purchase more wine.
See http://www.nakedwines.com.au/terms.htm#angels for this. I thought it was written pretty clearly on their site too.

"You support winemakers by topping up your Naked Wines account with $40 a month towards Your next order, Yours to spend on ANY of Our wines, whenever You want.
In return for Your support, You save at least 25% (and up to 50%) every time You place an order (i.e. You pay the Angel Price rather than the normal price listed next to each product).
Naked Angels are also offered a free premium bottle of wine every month if You order a case, while stocks last. To claim Your free bottle, add it to Your basket from Your Naked Me page (unless we have added it already!) and checkout with at least 11 other bottles.
        Also:

As a Naked Angel there is no obligation to order whatsoever. You decide when You want to order (if at all) and what You want to order.
Your monthly Top-ups will be transferred from your registered debit or credit card on the 1st of every month. (You can change Your payment date on Your Account page.)

        • Yes, just be careful. You can cancel it though in your account preferences.

It does say: "This isn't a membership fee. It builds up until you want to buy some wine. Or get it back if you don't. No dramas."

        • Thank you for explaining this. Wasn't sure if it was a trick or something.

        • +1

What's there to stop me from using the additional free $50 by becoming an "angel" and then cancelling my angel account tomorrow?

      • Checked my email, it clearly says that I pay $14.94 after the $50 discount. And in my account I now have a further $50 to spend.

  • Shipping kills it for me ($38.99)

  • 6 x Muscato - http://www.nakedwines.com.au/wines/boy-meets-girl-pink-mosca…

Seems nice for lazy sunday in the sunshine.

$10 all up delivered ($1.60 each) yep worth it. Great Deals.

  • Anyone gone through the process who would be able to explain it? I'd just look at paying via Paypal then not signing up to the Angel thing if possible, or cancelling it immediately. Can that be done?

Sorry, it just seems that every user has a different experience with this company!

    • You have $50 voucher to spend. Pay using paypal or your CC. After your first order you select Yes/No to becoming an Angel. Yes will give add another $50 voucher to your account, but sign you up to the $40/m fee. You can cancel this Angel membership in your account preferences straight away.

      • +1

… and as per my comment below be sure to hop into your PayPal account and cancel the Pre-Approved Payment too! This way you can be as close to 100% sure they wont take nay more money from you.

        • +1

Legend! I put in an order for 6 bottles, said no to joining Angel then went into Paypal and cancelled as you said. Should be all good now hopefully! :)

    • +1

i gave them a visa debit card number which usually has zero balance so i don't get surprise authorisations. the paypal pre-authorisation didn't sound like a good option to me. then i removed it from the payment options once my order went through.

Incase anyone is curious, I got onto one of their deals some months ago (same wine labels, $100 voucher came with my mens shop $89 suit) …

Regarding the wines themselves, so overloaded with preservatives that drinking a bottle of red to yourself will leave you with a worse hang over than if you drank two bottles worth of cask wine …

The taste of the wines is nothing special, slightly above "Bowlers Run" which is a 3$ Dan Murphy drop (but below anything that you'd consider buying a second time) …

I'm not affiliated with the industry or any company, I just drink a lot of wine & get to the Adelaide wine regions quite frequently … in saying that, I was very impressed with the quality of Wine Selectors (although the cost is significantly more)

I'm not going to neg this deal BUT I wont be giving it a Greenie either but all I ask is that you enjoy the offer and enjoy the wine but please be VERY sure you understand what you're getting into when buying from these guys.

I bought a case from them a couple of weeks ago and you can see my positive comment in the previous deal via the link above… however just be careful because like me it's very easy to think you're safe when in fact you have signed up for regular withdraws from your nominated account or PayPal account. Best thing to do is make your purchase, ignore any invitations to become an Angel and don't be tempted by more vouchers either. Wait for your wine to arrive then go back onto their site and log in then be sure to thoroughly go through your account to make sure there are no sneaky little extra options ticked. Once you've done that be sure to log into your PayPal account and click 'Profile' then 'My Money' then click 'Update' under the 'My Pre-approved Payments' heading. You should find one from 'Naked Wines Australia' so go in and cancel it. Once this is done they cannot automatically take anything else from you and if they do then PayPal will have to explain why they allowed it.

So yeah, the Wine was perfectly fine for cheapie stuff and arrived within a day so that part is great… just be 100% sure to triple-check that you're not going to be hit up with extra charges later on OK!

    • Thanks for the low down - I'll follow your recommendations.
I recently took advantage of the Mens Shop $149 suit. It came with a $50 NW voucher.
Like others I got a case of cheapies (they actually sent me 15 bottles). Tried one - fairly ordinary red, but for this price, who's arguing?
I clicked the "Yes" I'd like my case for free because I read that there were "no obligations".
Not true - you're up for $40 per month.
I had to call them and after a bit of pestering they revoked the Angel deal and I got a confirmation email.
They later sent me a "sorry for coming on a bit heavy" email and have pledged $30 off my next order.
Must admit, I am not a big fan of the strongarm tactics, nor the sneaky methods mentioned in above post.

Just be watchful when dealing with these guys.

      • Yeah, I too got the 'Sorry for coming on a bit heavy' email even after declining the Angel invite.

Good wine, great price & great delivery just a little sneaky but as long as you're prepared then you wont have any problems… but I'm still not supporting them by giving this deal a Greenie sorry OP :P

        • I didn't click yes or no. Let them ponder over that one for a while ;)

    • Thanks for the advice - I've done exactly that.

    • Seems all a bit too much with activation/de-activation of accounts, paypal and whatever else in between all for some cheap wine is just not worth the hassle.

More of these deal please http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/121085

      • For anyone wanting a basic mixed case for as little as possible then please check out the WineMarket deal I just posted: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/121224. Works out to be $5.28 per bottle delivered.

I'm not affiliated with them but I have dealt with them before via OzBargain deals and found them to be excellent on price, prompt with delivery and the cheapie wine was actually very enjoyable.

    • thanks for taking the time to write this! followed your steps to the T.

  • i got a case a few months back for $30. if u compare them to a $10 swill u get a the big chains they compare quite well. the whites i got are perfectly drinkable. the reds a bit light and plain but over all not too bad.

  • Thanks OP got 6 x moscato for $9 delivered

  • Hmm,
I clicked no to everything. Just going through my account settings and I see they have put a $30 voucher in there? Did that happen to anyone else?
Is there any section in the profile that outlines your angel status?
edit: I thumbed up or down an item that I had ordered (mistakenly thinking I was doing something else), and as I have now found out from an email I just received, they put 30 in my account for doing so. I wonder if that has now changed my status.

    • If you clicked No to becoming an Angel, they will send you an email apologising for coming on too strong and put a $30 voucher in your account.

  • Don't know how people are getting orders through, I just get this message "WARNING - The minimum spend for your voucher has not been met. Your voucher will not be applied to this order". They only tell me that AFTER entering all my details and authorising paypal, also added shipping at the very end. Order was $20 after voucher

    • They probably caught on to the amount of people putting through low $ orders and decided to make it a minimum of $100 spend before the $50 voucher can be applied.

      • Wait so… deal is off?

        • +2

Seems they have changed to miminum to $79.99.

        • Thanks for working out the minimum zappy. Note that is $79.99 prior to the voucher. This is the best deal for that price, works out to $2.50 per bottle:
          https://www.nakedwines.com.au/cases/share-the-love-case.htm

        • Oh well. $30 for 6 quality bottles normally (apparently) $18.50 EACH is pretty good. Will enjoy.

        • +1

Just remember if you choose to become an angel for a month the second $50 doesn't seem to have a mimimum spend(yet!).

        • That's a good point zappy. That means you can get 18 bottles for about ~$35.

    • dunno, i was charged $4.73 all up for 6 bottles of red

  • -1

Is it possible to get anything completely free from this offer?

    • +5

Apart from a bit of nice afternoon light reading from friendly fellow OzBargainers… no sorry.

      • Thank you. I enjoy that daily. :)

    • Well, if you know a friendly OzBer in your neighbourhood, I'm sure you can get a pleasant hangover for zilch

  • Yeah just tried to order $54 worth of wine and it told me i didnt spend enough to use that voucher. Any tips on cancelling your profile/account?

    • Read the big upvoted post above about cancelling the paypal future authorisation thing from your paypal profile page

  • WARNING - The minimum spend for your voucher has not been met. Your voucher will not be applied to this order
    My order was $75

  • I have tried them before from another promo, pretty good for the price. Got a dozen mix of red/white.

  • Let me get this straight, in order to get $50" I must sign up a contract with the. With my personal details so they can rob me more? No thanks.

  • Screwed up an made an order at full price :( Sent an email should get sorted out hopefully. Looks like some decent wine anyway, once they have fixed up the mistake order think I might make a proper one, can have 6 bottles that look decent for $30

  • How do I apply the coupon?
I can only see the full price before I click the buy button?
Oh never mind, I see the minimum spend message now :(

  • +1

I purchased a dozen bottles of wine from these guys last week with a voucher. It arrived very quickly. Have only opened one bottle so far, it was ok.. nothing special. If you enjoy playing lucky dip wines this is a good deal for you.

    • +3

i bought a 6 pack of merlot from them a month ago. not too difficult to drink. a reasonable merlot with subtle hints of elderberry, cinnamon and oak. tannin levels were low. with gusts from the north east and odds of 25:1. I give this movie a 7.

  • I'm in - $35 for a dozen wines delivered to QLD. What have I to loose? If they are up to scratch I stick around to buy some more. If it's average, I cancel the further payments. This is a no loose deal… Thanks for the initial post - Wife also happy (double bonus)

  • Its a huge discount, but the brands are unfamiliar and my experience from buying a couple of massively discounted wine dozens in the past (from other companies) has not been great.

  • Spent $45 on half dozen delivered to WA. Hope their good!

  • +2

Not affiliated to Naked Wines other than being an 'Angel' for the last year, but I have nothing but praise for these guys, I get to try to excellent wines for a decent price, all rated by others so I can choose what seems to be good. The money taken out of your account each month is a great way for me to save up for my next case easily & I generally order when they give me a free bottle to start with.

Living in Sydney, the wines get delivered the next day,

Some of their wineries won some big awards this year, so feels good to be a small part of this.

I hope more people join so I can get to try even more new wines.

  • Order came in today. Dayum talk about fast postage

  • I put in two orders with them, one by paypal and one by debit card. In my bank statement, both orders have an additional dollar fee listed, separate to the order. Anyone know what this charge is for?

PENDING - NAKED WINES AUS Newport -$1.00
Direct Debit 279234 PAYPAL AUSTRALIA -$1.04

    • probably just an authorisation to test validity of the card. should just expire

  • delivered today. nice!

    • My order is still "being picked". Ordered before 5pm on Wednesday.

      • Never mind, it arrived today! =)
