  • It works! Thanks OP.

You can also install a trial of iWork '09 to get a free upgrade to Numbers, Keynote and Pages (assuming you have upgraded to Maverick).
Also works with Aperture Trial to get a full version of Aperture added your Apple account.

  • Wow it works!

Not sure what im going to use it for but its FREEEE

  • Unreal! That works! Thanks so much for this! :)

  • Awesome!!! thanks heaps!

  • I read somewhere on the weekend Apple was offering Mavericks Server to Developers for free.

  • Thanks OP. Was about to upgrade this week!

  • Isn't this going to be free? Thought that was a major point during the apple update.

    • Read the title.

    • "Apple is now (for the first time) offering iOS App Developers a free copy of OS X Server. OS X Server is an extra charge for customers via the Mac App Store, but it is provided for free to Mac developers. To download OS X Server, developers should access the iOS or Mac developer portal to retrieve an App Store redemption code." taken from http://9to5mac.com/2013/10/24/apple-promoting-automated-cont…

It doesn't say if the iOS developer account has to be a free one or a paid one.

im lost, do i have to be a developer? I tried redeeming that code "M7N39MNMHJA7"didnt work

    • +2

      The instructions are very clear.

    • +2

      Facepalm

    • are you doing it with your PC ?

    • My apologies. I followed the instructions as it said on the website.

Was a bit sceptical to proceed with the instructions because Im not a developer, and to my knowledge I thought you had to pay an annual fee to be a registered developer, follow the method and it works fine.

      Ciao

  • Worked for me against my free developer account.

  • how to redeem?

    • In 'App Store' application under OS X.

  • +5

If you don't have any reasons to upgrade to OS X Mavericks Server, then don't.

    • +7

      But it's free…

      • +5

I would think it would add extra processes to the running of your Mac, which would slow it down compared with a regular install.

EDIT : See I was negged; it must indeed speed up your Mac instead.

  • Edit, its working

  • Is this still working?

    • Yes. I successfully redeemed my copy a few seconds ago.

  • This is my first OSX upgrade and it's FREE (winning)

    Looks good so far

  • +2

It still works for me. Everytime you refresh the page, new code would come up. Here's a few, try to use it if you can:
    9NY6TWYA9XHF

    6ELRW3M7E6R6
    K6EK7R6RFX7M

Don't think any of these codes work anymore. Cheers.

        3FLLN9HAJ3PK

        • Cheers. Worked backwards, can confirm last pair at least no longer work.

        • Got any more? =D

  • Tried to download, Mac App store says that it's not available in the AU store. Why???

    • Worked fine for me, did you go to the redeem section on the homepage and make sure you have an Australian dev account (if thats a thing)?

  • Woo! Thanks OP!

i got charged to my CC.. :(

    • How did you manage that?

  • i dont know.. i may have been too early to click on download before redeeming..

    • +1

When redeeming, you need to start with the Redeem link - it's like a blind purchase.

      • i am doing that now again.. but it already downloaded and charged my CC.. :(

        • anyone know how to reverse app store charges?

        • Contact them and explain it and they will refund it "just this once".

        • +2

Contact the iTunes Store and say you confused it for Mavericks, which you thought was free.

        • i emailed them.. will see how i go.. thanks guys..

    for anyone else confused:
    - upgrade mac to mavericks if not done already (server is now an add-on, not an alternative install)
    - get code as above
    - launch "App Store" program
    - find server and click the "buy" button.
    - fill in some stupid in-security questions, and read 7 pages of updates T&C (ha!), lie and say you did,
    - when it ask for billing info, underneath is "redeem code"- click that.

Now to have a play with their SMB server and CalDAV server.
What are the rest of you wanting this for?

    • +3

Umm, I think that's how people managed to get charged. The correct process is to launch the App Store then click on 'Redeem' on the right hand side. After you submit the code, it'll automatically start downloading Server without you having to click any risky 'buy' buttons.

      • Ta. Isee, under "quick links." Why was that not mentioned at the top?

  • That link they redirect you to no longer works. Receiving this error:

    {"pageError":true,"errorMessages":"[{\"message\":\"We are unable to process your request. Please click the Done button below and try your request again.\"}]","acknowledgement":true,"personid":154767905}

Anyone else having the same problem?

    • Yer seeing the same issue.

      • It's still working (somewhere) — that error looks like a limit per dev account? I just retrieved 2 before I got the error.

        • No joy here.

If anyone gets a spare let me know.

  • Managed to get the code last night and redeem for Server via the "redeem" link on the first page of the app store. Also managed to get free updates of Aperture, iLife and iWork software by following the instructions on the youtube link posted by Jakiejake. Then i found this statement by Apple:

According to a MacTrast source at Apple:
It’s no coincidence that Apple’s support site doesn’t have downloads for the new Aperture, iWork, and iLife updates. They aren’t in our Software Update system either – and there’s a good reason for that. With Mavericks, we have changed the way we distribute updates for legacy versions of our apps

Rather than maintain separate updates for these in addition to the Mac App Store versions of each app, Apple has decided to eliminate their legacy software update system for apps entirely. Instead, when Mavericks discovers legacy apps installed on your Mac, it provisions them as a Mac App Store purchase using your Apple ID. It saves us a lot of time, effort, and bandwidth. After the provision is complete, it will appear in your Mac App Store history as though you have purchased the Mac App Store version of the app.

While we are aware that this enables piracy of our apps for unethical users, Apple has never taken a strong stance or action against piracy in the past. We like to believe that our users are honest, even if that belief is in vain. Source: Macrumors

Damn you Apple, for dangling a carrot yet making me feel guilty for taking it!

    • Good to see Apple putting convenience of users above anti-piracy. Take note EA and Valve.

  • Works, just downloaded.

    • Can you pls clarify? The code generation link still didnt work for me. On firefox and s4 browser

      • +1

Just looked again, works fine in Safari. You need to be signed in as a developer.

  • It's still working, just did it.

    My Steps:
    - upgrade mac to mavericks if not done already (server is now an add-on, not an alternative install)
    - get code as above
    - launch "App Store" program
    - go to Featured page
    - find the Redeem link inside the Quick Links box
    - paste the code over there
    Done!
