$100 off Plus Free Shipping - Omega VRT350 Heavy Duty Slow Juicer $595.00

12

First time poster. I have done some contract work for this business, so I've ticked the store rep box.

These slow juicers are in stock and on sale at a discount with free shipping Australia wide for the next week.

If you're not into slow juicers, they're also sometimes called masticating juicers. They squeeze juice rather than rip fruits apart with high rpm spinning blades.

  • Heavy Duty Slow Juicer $595.00

I'd hate to see the price of the Fast ones !!!

    • I think the price is aimed at slow people.

    • JV… just FYI it's the fast ones that are actually CHEAPER. They vary from about $160-260ish depending on which one you get.

It's the cold-press masticating juicers that are the expensive ones and it's because of the design of the equipment by which the juices are extracted.

The other juices (Like my Breville juice fountain plus ~$230) have rotating centrifugal discs, which generates heat and and causes oxidation. A lot of the vitamins are lost in the process and the juice needs to be taken straight away…. whereas with these ones it retains all the nutrients and can last up to 3 days. The motor warranty on these are usually 20+ years because of the design of the equipment, they usually last much longer than the centrifugal juicers (Don't know how much warranty is on these ones).

Some of the disadvantages of these is that it's expensive, and the feeding chute is tiny (so instead of fitting whole fruits, you have to cut them up. The reason why is so that is self-feeds itself in the process).

I've only ever seen the oscar juicer, which is around ~$350-400 i think?

      • The design of slow juicers is really simple. Much simpler than of the fast ones. It's just the current trend on "healthy" eating, etc. makes them overpriced.
I bought one for $75 it works fine. (see comment below)

Some slow juicer are ridiculously overpriced due to the current trend on them.
You can buy pretty good one for only $75. It's Sheffield JuiceSmart Slow Juicer, which works fine.
Comes with 1 year warranty. Even if for some reason it doesn't last too long after one year, it's only $75.

      it's only $75.

      website says $79… +$11 postage

      • I bought it for $75 with $2 postage not too long ago. They frequently run specials, have discount coupons, etc.
Even if it's $90 (incl. shipping) it's still really cheap compared to $595…Btw, reviews on Sheffield are really positive.

    • but but.. this one is not heavy duty!

  • here is video from the crazy juice guy from DiscountJuicers.com…. i think his videos are informative…
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5lmPOxa8WM
he tends to push Omega though….

  • See The Good Guys….. bought there for around $279… good brand, good warranty, quiet, and excellent juice with really dry pulp coming out the other end!

I would like anyone to show me 1 study that actually tells you how much of the nutrient is 'destroyed' by blades compared to slow juicing. I am interested to read just one actual study on blending vs juicing in terms of percentage nutrient loss , oxidation etc. I have seen the juice and it appears more homogenous with slow juicers and I realise a juicer is different to a blender but can anyone show me some actual unbiased data ?

    http://www.choice.com.au/reviews-and-tests/household/kitchen…

" The juice from all the non-centrifugal juicers contained about double — in some cases triple — the calcium of the juices produced some of the centrifugal juicers (bar two). However, these levels are small compared to the RDI.
The Greenpower Hippocrates’ juice has more beta-carotene compared with juice from every other juicer in the test.
Potassium was much the same for all juices tested.
Vitamin C quantities were too low to measure accurately."

    ………………..

"The apple juice from the centrifugal juicers separated and went brown a few minutes after juicing. After two days it was noticeably deteriorating, didn’t smell fresh, had a hard froth on top and a layer of sediment at the bottom — indicating a higher level of oxidation.

By contrast, the juice from the non-centrifugal juicers didn’t separate, smelt fresh and looked palatable and green after 48 hours in the fridge, indicating less oxidation.
It’s possible that the oxidation or friction from higher-speed centrifugal juicers turns the juice bad faster than the slow-turning machines."

    • Thanks for quoting that bit of the report, I was really interested to know their results in terms of nutrition.

    • So basically negligable loss of anything and probably if you add a squeeze of lemon juice or maybe orange juice to your apple juice it may prevent it from going brown!! Thanks.

  • You get a much better deal buying this guy:
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/117081
$300 for a Sharp slow juicer. I've bought one and I'm very happy with it.

  • I got this juicer from David Jones for $300 few weeks ago:
    http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/en/davidjones/food-prepara…

and it looks very similar if not identical to the one mentioned by OP. This business model really drives me nuts: when one particular model manufactured in China has different brand names in different countries.

  • Hi rep how does this compare to the "Angel 5500 - Twin Gear Cold-Press Live Enzyme Juicer" other than its double the price

is it any thing like, a i7 is double the price of a i3

  • I've just bought the Vitamix TNC 5200, is this machine better than the Vitamix?

  • so much pseudo-science in this thread. if you want to be healthy, just eat the fruit. jesus!

also, not a bargain, as mentioned above
