Clone Samsung Phones

Hey Guys i was just looking to buy a new phone i am currently using an iphone 5 which is giving me a lot of problems i am leaning towards the nexus 5 but its taking forever to come out. I saw a few Chinese samsung clones and wanted to know if anyone has had any experience with them. I have been using iphones since the 3s came out so a lot of android terms are quite gibberish to me. These phones look pretty legit but i am not too sure with the specs because i am not really a tech savvy person. I just need something with a good camera and good multitasking capabilities i wont be playing any games as such but i might be watching some tv shows on the device.

These were the phones that i was looking at as they are really cheap and look decent

Any help is going to be appreciated :)

Nexus 5 should be announced next week. I doubt you could even install 2GB worth of games on that phone with a 4GB of internal storage. I'm guessing performance, camera, battery life would be pretty crap.

You mean you don't understand hardware specifications…

You mean you don't understand hardware specifications…

The page says it has got 4GB of ROM meaning Read Only Memory. That is not internal storage. Seems like he is not the only one who can't understand hardware specifications

      • +2

The ROM in this instance refers to the ROM image, not the type of memory being used. The internal storage of the phone is just your normal, everyday flash memory that can be re-written.

Traditionally ROM refers to a type of memory that cannot be written to after the initial programming is done (for example CD-ROM, PROM, EEPROM) but when you're talking about mobile phones in general, the eMMC flash memory that your Android phones use to contain the operating system and apps is not read only — it can be erased and written to. It's not really "ROM" in a strict sense.

That's how we're able to install our own custom ROMS and also boot other operating systems. However, you still need super-user access to modify or write things into the system partition, and that might be the reason why it's still called ROM.

  • The main apps that i am planning to use on that one are tripview facebook and maybe instagram if the camera is good.
Yeah i have no idea what the MTK6589 Quad core would be like speed wise and if 1gm ram is alright or if its shit.

I am most definitely going to get the nexus 5 as my main phone though

      MTK6589

This CPU is fairly fast — it won't win in any speed tests when you compare it against an Galaxy S3 or Samsung Galaxy Note 2, but it's definitely fast enough for the average user who isn't seeking to play graphical demanding mobile games.

Some issues you may face when buying a low-cost (sub $200 dollar) device
Low internal capacity (some only have 4GB of ROM, others 8GB, and you pay a premium for 16GB versions)
Mediocre battery life in relation to screen size (2000mah battery with a 5 inch display for example)
Some phones only run on 2100mhz 3g and lack Optus 900mhz or Telstra 850mhz bands, so check before buying.

Note, build quality will vary depending on which brand you buy, and second many chinese manufacturers don't support their phone software wise, so if there are bugs or glitches in their firmware or ROMS, it may go unpatched as they don't have the time or resources to go about fixing them.

Usually, you'd have to turn to the XDA Developers forum and search for fan-created ROMS or fixes for software problems.

There are a few 'well known' manufacturers of high end devices in the China-phone market, for ex.
      THL
      Meizu
      Xiaomi
      Lenovo
      Cubot
      Zopo
      Oppo (Find 5)
      Umi

      • Thanks for your detailed response :)

      • Good reply. Thanks.

  • And would you happen to know how the chinese knock offs would compare to the iphone 4s or nexus 4
    Thanks :)

I doubt they would give you less problems than your iphone 5.

    • Yeah probably better off saving the money towards the nexus 5
      Cheers for your response :)

I purchased the s4 replica from Ming198717.LTD on dhgate earlier this year.
The software is excellent but be mindful there is no updated roms.
GPS doesn't work. You have to root and delete a file. Even after that it was shit. Google for instructions.
Battery life is not that good however I don't have an original s4 to compare.
    Camera is crappy.
I sold it to a friend (as a replica) as I need a decent camera.
    Overall a good cheap alternative.

    • Thank you for your honest opinion i just need something with a good camera so probably wont be buying this then but thanks again I really appreciate it

  • After buying one of these

I thought it was so good, I bought another for a friend.
It is very fast, powering on in less than 5 secs.
Everything works, even the GPS, and the camera is also pretty good.
It came with 2x batteries and the battery lasts a few days.
I showed it to my phone snob nephew and even he reckoned it was surprisingly good.

  • i bought a 4.7" HAIPAI I9389 Quad Core MT6589 1.2GHz Android 4.2 Smartphone 3G Mobile Phone AU$142 with 9% off code from BUYINCOINS. can't fault it.

very similar to the G3 but some obvious differences.here is my review.-

aliexpress has some reasonable deals for clones.

but look for a seller with decent feedback (many overnight sellers).

In my experiences from using these knock-off phones, they are not really up to standard in my opinion. I would stay well away from them. These days they are probably getting better, but I would rather spend a little more for something I know isn't going to fall apart or explode after I turn it on.

    i have a no1 s6( Samsung S4 Clone) http://www.merimobiles.com/no-1-s6-quad-core-android-4-2-5-0…

i purchase from link above really good quick snappy phone no lag very well built and dual sim the battery last 2 days with fairly heavy usage all original s4 accessories fit it it also has air gesture and smart eye pause function (with Rom Update)only complaint is the wifi signal is not the greatest if i am up the other end of the house to the modem i have poor coverage where other phones i have no issues it is due to the built in wifi antenna but have found a fix for it that im working on now but overall very happy with phone would recommend it.

just a note the website states 3G Network:
    WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100MHz
    2G Network:
    GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

it is not 3g 900 compatible

      Hey stevednj48
Thanks for you quick and detailed response i know this is a slightly long shot but would you be able to upload a photo that you have taken from the phone so i could see how the camera quality is (thats one of the main reasons why i am buying the phone). How you you compare it to the nexus 4.

      Thanks again :)

      • hi can do but i have no idea how to upload to this forum.

  • Meh.. for those prices i'd rather the new Kogan Agora HD and it's rootable:
    http://www.kogan.com/au/buy/agora-50-quad-core-smartphone/

In saying that, for AU$100 i'd rather a secondhand Galaxy S2 with CM10.2:

And this Kernel for the ZZMOOVE governor:

    As for my Antutu Benchmark:

  • Seeing your topic I thought u r going to clone a samsung phone lol

  • So the Chinese are cloning an Apple clone now? A clone of a clone could be bad :)

    • Shenzhen Wars: Attack of the (Android) Clones

      • damn scrimshaw, you changed your post making my "witty" response invalid.

  • It says the Real resolution of the clone phone is 1280x720 super dodgy.

There are some impressive fakes and Chinese phones however the GPS performance and flash speed is very slow usually. The complete lack of space to actually install stuff is also a severe problem. They also extremely rarely support next g and all but a few don't do 4g.

You will notice the cheapness everyday. Even option text isn't capitalised etc.

  • Used them, love them. reviews are everywhere.
Even their reception is almost double every other phone…. reason is the SAR rating is shit (radiation), but thats the only down side.

    HDC is the best knockoff.
Jaiyu is the best Chinese phone.
Zopo is the best 'clone' (sold in germany, and asia, passes EU standards).

I'd highly recommend FastCardtech if you're ordering one.

    • Looks like you have had some first hand experience with them :)
could you tell me or link me the phone you bought from fastcardtech and how the camera and processor are ?
      Thanks you

      • I ordered one of the HDC Note clones. very cool.
Processor is as advertised, fast, and specced correctly.

Most pages on FCT have sample images, they're legit. Failing that, due to the popularity of these cheap phones, there is almost always a review available by an end user somewhere online.

        I love Chinese Android stuff.
Its all made there anyway, and Android ensures no risk of 'China OS built on Java' or some junk being shipped.

I'd recommend looking into the Zopo phones, as they're WELL reviewed everywhere, and a 'brand name company' because they sell in germany too.

I took a risk on one of the HDC note clones (there are a lot of variations per model) and was happy.

  • I bought an HDC Note 1 clone from Fastcardtech earlier this year. Used it for 6 months, was really happy. Dual SIM, worked well on T, O and Voda in most of Aus (and in the USA, when I took it there and used it on AT&T). Excellent reception, fast processor.
Came with all the gear (including a spare battery) for just under $200 delivered and insured, and locally bought cases and screen protectors fitted just fine.
I only got rid of it when my nephew told me how much he wanted one like it and offered me a few bucks less than I paid for it. With the new Nexus in mind, I sold it, went back to my Huawei for a few weeks, and I have an N5 coming.
I quite fancy a Jiayu G4, but I want 4G on my next phone so it may take a while before they sort that out.
