Haven't seen a super slim IRL next to a slim so can't say size difference but I would assume the Super slim is slightly smaller.
PS3 Fat/Slim/Superslim/ps4 size comparison"The consensus seems to be this model is better than the super slim - a superior build quality along with a slot-load drive rather than having to lift the lid to put a disc in."
"gibspmuh"
Also the super slims are said to be louder then the Slim model. Slim also uses mechanical switch buttons on the front of the console as opposed to the touchscreen buttons on the fat don't know about super slim though.99% ps3 games are region free shouldn't be an issue. Chances are your using a modern tv and as such there isn't a Pal or ntsc issue. (I don't even know if there is one but most tvs accept both these days.) Oh and the only issue regarding buying games from overseas is if you want the DLC you'll need to create a ps3 account for that country switching accounts is allegedly not an issue and easy/quick to do.
Ozgameshop for new titles ebay Cashconverters ect. for used.
Also Ps3 exclusives
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:PlayStation_3-only_gam…Super Slim By Kmart is @ $179 for 12GB
Big W is/was $148 160Gb Slim ModelSlim Model was better quieter slot loading and good components. (but not as good as the revised fat 80GB PS3)
after the 2nd rev of fat ps3 all went down hill in terms of cost cutting on components.Super Slim cheap plastic and components, hover still works AS PS3 no dramas.
I have the 80GB fat Ps3 (upgraded to 500Gb) still going strong.
also bought a super slim 12Gb as a cheap DVD/BluRay player will upgrade the hdd with bracket $6.99Bottom line no harm in getting the cheapest model ie. $134 ps3 skylanders @ big w instead of 160GB slim.
One can always upgrade the hdd with a bracket
$8 bracket $1TB hdd $50-60
Remember once you upgrade the hdd the flash hdd 12gb will NOT be available it will disappear.
till you remove the hdd and it will appear again.Hope this helps.
first of all, the one that kmart sells is the superslim ps3 (newest version)
the one in bigw on clearance is the slim ps3
the "fat" you mentioned is the very first generation of ps3
the difference between superslim and slim ps3 is mainly on the physical size and design
no upgrade on any hardware on the superslim one
reason why i chasing the 160gb slim model is simply because the superslim model is ugly although its 1/3 smaller
there is no region restriction issue for PS3, you can buy games off ebay from any country regardless of the region.
hope my answer helps you.
Rang up and most of the WA stores I tried didn't have any stock - they sold out yesterday morning etc upon release of sale. sigh. missed out of bargain as usual!
Does anyone know if jb or anything price match?
don't know why people always ask this, just call up or go in store and ask. it's different for each store
I'm selling my brand new Wiis (without controllers) is anyone is interested.

Anyone seen if this is available in WA?
So Kmart was selling the PS3 12 GB console for $179 per the catologue - is that the 'slim' you guys are talking about? or the super slim? And what is this 160 gb model considered to be? This isn't the 'fat' right? That was the original ps3? Just wondering all the lingo/references, i'm abit confused about which to get?!
the 12 gb one is $179 so its more expensive than obviousl $149 for 160gb…. but is there a huge size differencE? And in terms of build quality and everything/features , which should I be getting - assuming I can find stock of both?
From what i gather this 160gb one is a disc load system i.e. like your car system, it sucks the disc in, whereas the 12 gb console is a lift top lid? Woulda thought this would be better as your disc cant get jammed (you can lift the lid up and just pull it out) ?Or am I missing something?
Advice please on which model to get?!
Also i'm confused - someone said there is still NTSC vs pal for games? From my research there's only regions and the ps3 plays any region games now? So if I buy online it doesn't matter if it's australia or us or UK based? The only issue is ntsc vs pal for the actual ps3 player matters in terms of the tv your feeding it through, correct?
Can someone in the know please clarify in detail all of the above?! would really love to know.
I know the ps4 is coming out soon but thought this would be cheap as a 'catch-up' for all the gaming i've missed out. What's a good online store with an extensive list of ps3 games? Interested particularly in RPG's and what the japanese whip out :)
