Been trying to find the game for less than $50.
Went to Big-W today and they told me it's on sale tomorrow for $44, down from $60!
But stocks may be limited so I suggest you get in quick.

Great price for local stock considering it's about $60 on eBay.

Basically the same as the expired deal here.

They better fill their pre-orders from last time first. I pre-ordered before the game came out with them and are still waiting.

    • +5

I'm sorry if you're upset but this post has nothing to do with pre-orders since you can just go in and buy it so I don't see why it deserves a neg?

Also could you just ring up Big-W and ask to pick it up in store? Haven't ordered online before so not sure how it works exactly and if it's shipped from warehouse or their store …

  • Thanks OP! I'll probably pick up the game and a 2DS. They're pretty cheap too!

    • Just be aware that the 2DS isn't exactly portable - if that's an issue for you.

      • +1

It's about as portable as an XL, neither will fit into your jeans pocket. I have the XL and throw it into my backpack every day, the 2DS being lighter would probably only qualify as more portable.

EDIT: should clarify I'm not talking out of my arse, a mate got a 2DS and I'm pretty impressed by it.

I'm still waiting on my pre-order. First got bent over by Harvey Norman and now Big W. Aussie retailers are a joke.

    • +5

Everyone was posting online how relatively easy it was to get them if you arrived in store early enough. I pre-ordered to avoid disappointment I've been waiting 2 weeks. Shameful how they divide their stock.

      • Is the pre-order shipped or pick up? something to do with the warehouse/specific store stock I heard..

      • +2

Apparently an individual that pays the full price for the item a month early is less important than someone who happens to walk into the store on a whim.

      • why don't you guys just buy it on the day? (in store)

        • As mentioned to avoid disappointment and ques.

    • First of all - it's totally shit what Big W has done - but I don't understand why you guys don't just cancel yout pre-orders and go pick it up in store now. All it will take is a phone call.

      • it's a bit to late to cancel now. If we who pre-ordered cancel it, we wont be able to get it anywhere as everywhere was out of stock. NOW even BigW still doesn't have stock. Whenever i tried ringing up the store staffs always say "Not sure when we'll receive them in again". For us it's not worth risking to cancel and end up finding that the store has not stock anymore. So yeah, hope that clarifies the issue a bit. =)

      • +1

I would have cancelled it if they bothered to tell us it would be delayed this long. They took the money on the day of the pre-order, which would have meant we would have had to chase up on refunds as well.

friend of mine is still waiting for his preordered copy too.

    • +2

Same here.. Had a talk with several Big W rep told me they're gonna have stock in by 25th IN-STORE.. HOWEVER, for those who ordered online/ preorder needs to wait probably by the end of the month to get the game. Ridiculous i say.. sigh

      • +1

My preorder has now changed from "backordered" to "in progress". Hopefully that means it won't take much longer.

        • Mine said shipped yesterday at 5pm, so should be soon. Still pissed off though.

        • Mines still saying "in progress". Really annoying.

        • Same. If I don't hear anything by today I'm going to Big W tomorrow to buy one in store. The problem is last time I wandered in they had sold out already…

        • Still not delivered for me - think you will be going to the store tomorrow!

        • +1

My local stores are all sold out again with no idea of when they're getting stock. I'm confused as to why Big W doesn't save copies for those who already paid though I suppose since they've already taken my money it's all the same to them.

        • +1

Funny how it's sold out again in stores but online you can still 'click and collect' from certain stores.. Well, i contacted BigW customer service, was told that will be getting it start of the week but i doubt it. sigh

        • finally got mine, 18 days later. learned my lesson about preordering from big w.

  • I would be concerned if you couldn't find the game previously for under $50. When it was released Big W was $44, Kmart was $45 (now $49) and Target was $49.

    • Been busy with exams so only had a look last weekend when most stores were either out of stock or had it for $60.

      • +4

Buy the game on release, then keep it sealed until the exams are over. Best way to play straight away after they're finished!

  • +1

I checked the week that the sale ended, it never went up. Was in store and it had $44 listed as base price not sale price O.o

Pokemen is over. Get with the time guys. COD4 & LOL FTW.

    • +1

Yup i snapped it up for 41 bucks from them and i have it already. That really blows that Big W delayed your preorder though

    • Why are games so cheap at blockbusters? Are they brand new?

      • Cause they're shipped from Hong Kong..

  • +3

I preordered mine and it hasn't arrived. I'm just going to walk in and buy it. Then refund my preodered copy if that makes sense.

I learnt a valuable lesson to never preorder from BigW again.

    • Was thinking of doing the same, but back then they had no stock anywhere so it was either wait or get a refund for the preorder. Good luck getting the game ;)

      • You could check if EB have stock. They will price match.
I pre-ordered my copy from EB and got a price match to the Big W price on day 1 :)

  • I'm interested in purchasing one of these. Does anyone know where I can find a cheap 3DS XL?

    • gumtree and ebay for sure.

      • +1

a lot of the gumtree prices i've seen a pretty overpriced

  • +1

Thoroughly enjoying Pokemon Y at the moment. While obviously following the same general structure, X/Y are definitely the biggest updates to the franchise in 15 years. For that reason, it's the first of the series I've actually been bothered to purchase. It's great to see the world and it's inhabitants finally fully rendered in 3D!

    • I haven't played since HG/SS and this game is amazing.

    • Game world is sadly pretty small compared to bw2 though :(

  • This reminded me of Video Ezy's price around launch, I just double checked and ordered it from Video Ezy just then for $45 including postage. Nice surprise that they still have it cheap too.

  • Went to BigW in QV, melb.. All out of stock

  • Good amount of stock at Eastgardens (Pagewood, Syd) I was worried for a while I wouldn't get a copy at all: I was in front of X and Y copies (tossing up which one, thought my decision would be made as I assumed one would be out of stock) then an eight year old boy came and grabbed both copies while I was standing in front of the shelf. He ran off to check the prices, mum probably thought I was stalking then put both in his mother's (assuming mum) basket. I went to the desk and luckily they told me had plenty of stock (there was only one copy of each of the pokemon games on display but there were multiple copies of other games so thought all available stock was on shelf). Went with X because I liked the letter and am a fan of the 'old' Mewtwo look (although I preferred the badass cover art of Y). NOTE: There are no prices on shelf, or signs of the special. I feel bad for all those who pre-ordered and waited ages for their copies… Also Australian stock (rated: PG) not that it makes much of a difference. Although it may do for some and that could affect the price if you wanted to resell it (not by much I don't reckon though)

    • *It may make a difference for some because of perception that AU stock is somehow better than O/S printed stock which could mean a very small positive difference in resale price.

      • Well, it isn't a perception that many JB HIFI/EB games flatout refuse to take overseas stock when trading games in.

  • Just went to Box Hill and picked up a copy of each. On the shelves there were just display boxes so just ask. Not sure how many left since the person didn't say when I asked.

  • Even if you call and ask to place it on hold they still manage to misplace it. It wasn't even two hours! Oh and while waiting to ask for the held games the person behind you has the last copy.

    Ya I'm whinging too

  • My wife went into EB's today and asked them to sell it to her for $44 and they did…. it was that easy. We also strolled in the Big W launch day and bought one…. maybe I am just lucky.

  • Melbourne QV big w sold out 2ds and Pokemon x y when I was there yesterday. Went to eb games on Swanson st close to Collins, grabbed both. They are willing to price march. 2ds$138, Pokemon x y $44. I show them the big w catalogue, hope that helps.

  • When will the sale stop?

  • No stock anywhere! Tried Big W (Chullora), EB games and JB (Sydney city).

Hopefully a restock before the end of the week and the end of the sale price!

  • I have check for 3ds xl consoles today and pokemon x and y in stores and everywhere is sold out. This is in Adelaide South Australia though.

    • don't feel so down on yourself, obviously pokemon z will be released in two more years so you have plenty of time to wait.
