+1 only for the Ice-break. I just saw this advertised on a 7/11 this morning on my way to work.

  • +2

The only one that's really great value is the Ice Break, the rest while reasonable and quite cheap for a convenience store they aren't any cheaper than the normal specials at Coles/Woolies (Krispy Kremes and Slurpees obviously don't get sold at Coles/Woolies).

Not a bad $1 day, but they Slurpees would've been better if the weather was a bit warmer.

    • +9

I think NSW would be glad for this. With all the bushfires and horrible weather, probably a good time to keep cool for a dollar.

    • +4

$1 Hungry Jack Slurpees all year round (and larger than the $1 7/11 ones)

      • +2

Yeah but not in the cool flavors. My fav is mountain dew flavour

  • +1

Does it start at 1 second past midnight or some other time..

    • Yes. Same as previous $1 day promotions.

    • +34

You forgot to review one !

      Kronicmacstigator (junk ozbargain user)

      • +11

Instead of being negative, why don't you make a positive contribution to OzBargain by ACTUALLY POSTING A DEAL?

        • I'm a glass is half empty type of guy.

        • +7

I think that was meant for kronicmacstigator

        • Too busy macstigating to post deals.

    • -5

I wish I could neg you multiple times.

    • I find it interesting that you don't classify the chocolate bars as junk food.

      • -4

They have their uses… like boosting serotonin

    • -4

I don't know why you got thumbed down, that was some good info.

      • +3

Yeah I was furiously taking notes because I didn't realise that it was junk food. Well, I'll rethink my next bag of Twisties because I thought it was healthy.

        • -5

I mean JUNK food. Hell, even a McDonald's cheeseburger is probably more nutritious!

      • People get angry when they hear what they're eating is junk food?

        :)

    • Its a service station, its a big bargain in my eyes! Go 711!!

    • +1

log in just for neg you mate.

  • +10

looks like i'll be buying 12 x $1 Ice-Break drinks…. doing it for the kids!

    • +2

Please don't use your children as excuses to buy drinks for yourself. You can be open and honest on these forums :)

      • +1

I think he means "doing it for the kids!" As in the Save the children charity that the proceeds will be going to…

        • +2

          Rephrase:

Please don't use the children as excuses to buy drinks for yourself. You can be open and honest on these forums :)

    • I was thinking the same thing. The Ice-Breaks are really the only good "deal". But I bet they'll all be gone before 8:00am :(

      • +2

so go in at midnight when the deals start! that's what I did a few $1 day sales ago and got a truckload of $1 600ml coke bottles

        • Were there no limits?

        • There is bust some stores don't care. especially at midnight when there is no bosses around

    • +1

It's the same price when 2L of Oak iced coffee goes on sale for $4.

  • So are most of these cheaper in supermarkets or does the 1$ actually make them cheaper (serious question). I havent bought chocolates or chips from supermarkets for such a long time, i am not sure what the going rate is for items like twisties and the cherry ripe etc? I used to think they were like 30-50c at the supermarkets but maybe that was ages ago?

    • +2

its a lot cheaper at supermarkets but for the city and office workers these are cheaper
usually targetted for office workers who want a snack now!

      • Thanks, so i guess its not really useful if i was just planning on buying them in bulk to eat them over time / weeks. This is more of a quick bite / snack / lunch offering.

        • Almost worth considering Costco for super bulk purchases.

        • +1

Yeah not a member yet, Some people told me the prices arent that great in Costco even in bulk?

        • really depends on the product
found the fruit and veg not that appealing most of the time

the microwave wontons are awesome and unless WW/coles have them on special costco is always cheaper

  • I am considering 12 sausage rolls but i take it they wont have enough of them in stock? Whats an Ice break?

    • +21

Something that'll go down well after 12 sausage rolls.

  • +10

Krispy Kreme original glaze $1 usually $2.50, not bad :) Tempting, its just the idea of all those transfats makes me want to rethink

    • +3

OK will buy a dozen :)

      • +2

I remember when they first opened it was $10 or $12 for a dozen. Ah times have changed.

        • +1

The original glazed is selling for $15.95 for a dozen currently.

  • +1

    Lol lonewolf…

Go for a stroll into the future and have a look in the confectionary isle.

Im sure you will be shocked.

    • +1

You mean the prices of items? Yeah wouldnt surprise me, I know like 10-15 years ago, my cousins from UK would comment on how much cheaper groceries and food is in Australia compared to UK. These days they comment on how expensive everything is in Australia compared to the UK. The whole duopoly over time has changed prices dramatically but it was small steps that we just kept believing it was inflation but its far far more than that. Wish my salary would have gone up in the jumps that grocery prices have taken. Especially the idea of smaller sizes for more money.

  • +4

    Well excuse me for breathing…

Just thought I'd take the trouble out of working out if something was a bargain or not…

  • +2

"Together we can make a difference - Save the Children - $1 day" . All money raised goes towards a good cause."

Are we talking gross or net profits?

    • Makes me wonder what their cost price is, I mean, sometimes Apu doesn't get a customer for an hour or two. Has to be a good profit margin in it for them to have so many stores

  • Does this apply in the 7 eleven fuel/service station too?

    • +2

I would assume they are the same.

    • +1

i saw signs for this in a fuel station in VIC today yes,

  • +1

Ill do my bit to help the kids! A dozen donuts, and a another dozen ice breaks- which is infact my fave iced coffee. Then ill need to work off all my piggyness!

    • +2

      Have you tried Farmers Union?

      • +1 for Farmers Union, not as sweet and similar value (~$4 for 2 litres)

      • +1

Farmers union is my 2nd favourite.

PS Farmers Union iced coffee is regularly half price on special at woollies $2.75 for 2lt, Id say at least once every 4-6 weeks it goes on half price special

        Big M is THE WORST

        • Big M? You mean chocolate flavoured dishwater?

  • a charity to pay their workers more?

  • amount raised for charity is counterbalanced by the burden of obesity this promotion creates. so zero sum result is rendered for social good.

    :P

    • How does drinking Cool Ridge lead to obesity?

  • Cheap food and charity thanks

  • 7-Eleven sent in an clarification. Note that it's not "All proceeds go to charity". Rather,

The campaign aim is to convert customers purchasing $1 Day products to also donate a $1 into the Save the Children 1$ day collection tin. 7-Eleven Head Office will also be additionally supporting the cause by matching customer donations up to $100,000.

    • +6

Won't somebody please think of the children?

      • +4

        Mrs. Lovejoy?

    • Thanks boss. I was told otherwise when I called HO this morning. Thanks for the clarification.

    • Show true ozb spirit, donate and buy nothing

  • Thanks! Gonna grab a few Krispy and ice break on the way to work on Thurs :)

  • +1

    obesity oclock, countdown has begun

  • +1

From Sleeper one of my favourite Woody Allen movies. :)
Dr. Melik: This morning for breakfast he requested something called "wheat germ, organic honey and tiger's milk."
Dr. Aragon: [chuckling] Oh, yes. Those are the charmed substances that some years ago were thought to contain life-preserving properties.
Dr. Melik: You mean there was no deep fat? No steak or cream pies or… hot fudge?
Dr. Aragon: Those were thought to be unhealthy… precisely the opposite of what we now know to be true.
    Dr. Melik: Incredible.

  • I wish they included pies and sausage rolls

  • so its tomorrow ?

  • is anyone going to donate the money?

    • +1

Yes, donating $1 won't hurt anyone. Time to hit your local 7-Eleven guys.

Already people filling baskets full of stuff.

    • spend $9 and donated 50cents.

I'm going to go another 7-11 later on the way home. Atleast the office is stocked up

  • -1

    gogogo you time travelling bastards

  • Got 5 Ice Breaks! Only brought 5 bucks :(

  • +4

Slurpee is the small size. Better off going to HJ's and getting a $1 large coke. (yes I am speaking with my ozbargain hat on and not my charity hat).

Only real bargains here are the doughnuts, ice breaks and maybe the sausage rolls (but I wouldn't trust them)
Everything else is that price every other week at most supermarket chains.

  • Been to 2 stores in Brisbane and no sign of the cartons of mother, just loose ones in the fridge. Any1 seen cartons on offer at any stores?

Do ice break only make iced coffee, what about other flavours like chocolate or banana?

    • They should have heaps in storage out the back. Just ask for a slab of Mother.

    • It's only ice break and varieties i.e loaded (with guarana), extra shot and sugar free.

  • +1

..as the wise man once said, "Not a single 7-eleven was seen in Adelaide that day."

    • +1

When the rest of the city goes to bed at 5:30, why should 7-11 have any fun?

      • The new law is actually 3am now lol, no entry to bars or clubs after this time. You would be suprised though, The 24/7 MacDonald's are always filled during day light hours even in adelaide.

        • +1

QLD is worse with bars/clubs lock out time, which is 1AM, I think.

  • Just went to the 7-eleven on Roma st near Herschel, there was plenty left of Ice Break and Mother.

  • They are everywhere in Sydney, literally every street. Then are even popular in suburb and rural areas.

  • +2

Just got 6 Donuts and 2 Ice Coffees - paid on AMEX too

  • Just got 2 donuts and a sausage roll

FYI to manage expectations, the sausage roll is 12cm long.

    • +1

Good to know! I don't even have to chew!

  • 7-11 is good for you.

  • can i please check if there is any beef in their sausage rolls?

    many thanks

    • They taste good that's all that matters

      • yes they taste nice.. it sort of has some sort of veggies inside as well so it should be healthy

    • "may contain traces of beef flavouring extract…" or something along those lines

    • If there is any meat at all, it's more likely to be pork.

  • +2

what's the bet my local 7-11 run by dodgy bros will claim that they know nothing of this promotion. They've pretty much denied me on all other good call promos. I already reported them for being dodgy twice and no response from 7-11 corporate.

    • Print a copy and take it. Does it say participating stores?

      • That's what I normally do. The vouchers I try to claim typically have operator instructions printed on the back detailing exactly which buttons need to be pressed on the register, yet they still claim they can't work it out, or it's not in the system blah blah blah

    • +1

Like how 7-11 doesn't allow you to claim free Mars (style) bars with the 1 in 6 promos

  • sux being on a no sugar diet
