How to speed up your Android Phone in 5 seconds? Apply to most of the Android phones

  1. Go to Setting
  2. Go to Developer option (make sure you turn on this option)
  3. 1) Turn off Window Animation scale
    2) Turn off Transition Animation scale
    3) Turn off Animator Duration scale

  4. Exit settings and it is done.

I just tried it on a Galaxy Note 2 and it gets snappy instantly.

Another tip for the note 2 is to turn off the double press home button for S VOICE. This will speed up the waking process when press the home button.

For older Android phones running on Android 2.xx,

  1. Go to Display
  2. Go to Animation
  3. Turn off Animation
  4. Exit Display and it is done.

Just tried it on a Desire HD and it gets snappy again.

  • Any downside to this?

downside is: you don't get animation background.

      • Screen and dialog box transitions are a waste of resources anyway — screens take longer to invoke and dismiss, drain battery, use more CPU processing etc.

Post-4.2 phones don't have Developer Options shown by default. You need to go to "About phone" and keep on tapping "Build number" to enable that option in the Settings.

My phone runs on Android 4.2.1 and the developer option is just above the about phone :)

I guess it depends on which phone you have. It may vary.

I thought everyone turned these off to make it snappy?

    guess not.

      :) np

  • Is there a battery saving with this? I don't mind the animations as is, but if turning them off would increase battery life then it'd probably be worthwhile

  • I can't even find "Animator Duration scale". Good tips though, thanks!

    • yeah me neither, that's on a Droid 4.1, but Droid 4.3 it was there.

  • Thank you so much for this post. I have a cheap little LG which has been really struggling. There is only one animation setting which I just turned off and I cannot believe the increase in speed, thank you so much :-)

    • glad to help :)

I have a Galaxy Nexus and didn't notice much increase in speed yet but I also haven't noticed anything missing or any problems so I'll leave the settings switched off. Occasionally there can be a lag for some processes so maybe this will reduce the frequency of that?

      • Please keep us updated. I think the Nexus is already buttery smooth but you are probably right, it may be able to reduce lags at times.

      • Same here on my Gnex with stock android. Can't see much of a difference but I'll run it for awhile and see what happens. Thanks fchis.

        • No pro :)
