    They are very similar in specs but the Sony has:
    - 4G Network
    - Micro SD Slot
    - Higher Clocker rate on the CPU (1.7GHz vs 1.5Ghz)
    - FM Radio
    - Better battery (2370mAh vs 2100mAh)

      Me too I need to buy a phone for my wife, thinking something around $300. Is this any good?

      She keeps saying want Samsung but for $300 not much I can get similar, right?

      EDIT:

      Found that it is only a dual core processor so what is the point over Nexus 4, except 4G?

        Nokia Lumia 920 is a good phone for about $350 delivered from Kogan, if you don't mind Windows 8 phone or HTC 8X for below $250, there seem to be frequent sales in Ozbargain.

        Galaxy Express is in your budget, and has 4G. Specs are good, except for the 800x480 screen and the 5MP camera.

        in addition to 4G the extra points are:
        Micro SD Slot for expandable memory (big plus)
        Longer lasting battery
        Radio
        Better quality camera

  Battery life on the nexus 4 is not that great I used it for 6 months on 3g less than 4 hrs of use and phone gets very hot makes you uncomfortable.
  No expandable storage and no 4g otherwise very fast phone

  Only -ve is dual core and front camera is VGA. Otherwise good +++. But if u r not using for video chat then VGA is not a problem.

  A big selling point to the nexus 4 is that it gets the latest updates as they happen, so in a few weeks will be on kitkat, where with the sony who knows when or if it'll ever get kitkat for instance. Mind you at this stage, I think you are better off waiting for the nexus 5 which should be better in every respect over this phone or the nexus 4.

  I suggest don't buy the Samsung phone, unless you don't have other to choose. Sony mobile is way better than Samsung.
  Samsung phone are over heat " even self burnout " and the phone start shut down very often after few months of use, so if you have choose, get other brands not Samsung.
