    Are the F1 games the modern equivalent of the old school Microprose Formula One GP games???

    For their time (20 years ago) they were cutting edge…

      Think "Arcadey with a hint of Sim". Easy to learn, hard to master. It does bring a fair amount of realism to life… but not as much as you would expect.

      I would say they are the closest equivalent, although I seriously hated those classic F1 games for the difficulty of them.

      Codemasters are doing a fantastic job of keeping the racing genre alive on PCs, the DiRT franchise has been awesome (although it gets more arcadey every iteration) and GRiD is simply tonnes of fun.

    A lot of the titles are steam activated too :)
    I just thought I'd mention that a lot of those games run on Games For Windows Live, which is shutting down next year. They may be patched at a later date to remove GFWL, or you might be left with a game that doesn't work.
