Hello all,

Here is a promotion Amazon are doing which nets you $100 worth of AWS credit to use on their services.

Unclear if this is just EC2 and ERM or includes all of AWS Storage Gateway, Amazon Route 53, EC2, Elastic MapReduce, SES, SWF, CloudSearch, ElastiCache, AWS OpsWorks, SQS, AWS Elastic Beanstalk, AWS Data Transfer, SNS, Redshift, DynamoDB, Glacier, CloudFront, RDS, S3, and SimpleDB.

Just fill out the form with your details and you will get the voucher in your email shortly after. Mine took about 15 minutes. The credits expire in around about 11 months, mine stating 08/31/2014

This may not appeal to everyone, but for those who use Amazon's services like I do, $100 credit to use on their services is great for new applications or just paying for some old ones.

I found out about this from LowEndBox: http://lowendtalk.com/discussion/14045/100-free-aws-credits-…

  • nice, it says in the terms "AWS Credits will expire 60 days after the date of issue or on March 1, 2014 (whichever occurs first)" though

Nah mine says 08/31/2014 so I can only assume they last until 08/31/2014 as that's what shows on my account details page

      • new to us… where's a list of what all the services mean? esp'ly those listed by acronyms… tia

        • You can get more details from here

        • The main service is EC2. This is the service that always you to spin up Windows or Linux servers to do whatever you want with them.

It says that the credits are only valid on EC2 and EMR, not other services mentioned by the OP:

"AWS Credits are not valid for the use of any AWS services other than Amazon EC2 and Amazon EMR. You will be charged AWS’s standard rates for any use of AWS services that is not covered by this Offer."

    • Annoying, I wanted it for S3.

    • What I listed in the OP is what shows on my account balance page along side the voucher as being services which the voucher will be used for.

    • Just applied it to my account and was hoping for some Route 53, nope, just EC2 & EMR (screenshot)

Still more than happy though, thanks OP :)

  • AWS also have a "free tier", which allows you to run one Windows or Linux 'Micro' instance for up to one year (750 hours per month).

  • -6

I have a feeling that 0% of people will have a useful need for this compute power. A free micro instance allows you to run a website for a year and this is going to give you the ability to use more power of 2 months (not really a value). Not saying it's bad.. just pointing it out.

    • Well, I have 84% of that 0% that totally agrees with you!

      • -1

Not sure what that means. What will you be using it for?

    • Yeah I tend to concentrate on my websites that require more than a free AWS instance for hosting though. So … so much for feelings eh.

  • Amazing - money in the pocket for existing AWS uers…

    Thx OP

  • Thanks OP - we'll certainly use it.

FYI: Maybe expect a followup call
"An Amazon Web Services representative will contact you."

just fill the form and wait for the email?

    I have waited for 2 hours ..

    • +1

      Zzz… still waiting…

  • Excellent, love playing around with this

  • …I like bacon.

Did this last night, haven't received anything yet. Already have an AWS account, as an aside.

  • This doesn't work at all…. Should just close the post.

    Anyone got the voucher?

    • Nope

    • No voucher yet. I guess they were swamped with requests.
      Fingers crossed though.

It's taken a while, but I just got an email with my code, expires 12/31/2013

  • +1

Just received my code. So yeah, took about a week. Better late than never, especially when free ;)

  • Just got an email from AWS:
"… We noticed that the credit code that we previously sent to you was invalid. Please find your new code below:"
Nothing wrong with my 'old' code, now I have $200 credit in my AWS :)
