HTC One Mini 4G $480 Unlocked Outright @Telstra (Kogan $499 + Delivery)

280

Been looking for this phone and surprised to find this cheaper at Telstra (Silver only) than Kogan. Plus it's local stock.

Phone is unlocked but pre-loaded with Telstra software.

It doesn't show on the webpage but that's the stated price in store.

No bad for a mid-range 4G phone. Seems to have decent review:

Alternatively, pre-order with Voda (Black only) on $50 monthly plan, and receive a free Beats by Dr. Dre Pill™ Speaker you can sell for $200:

  • Can the Telstra preloaded software be removed?

    • I asked the store rep and he said no, it's built into the android firmware.

I guess you just need to hide the shortcut from the menu and forget about it.

    • You can probably disable it if you go into the app list. (it's not removing it, just disabling so you don't see it)

      • the only software Telstra preload (AFAIK) is the 24x7 app which is excellent anyway.

        • Yeah but don't forget many people are not using Telstra, then the app would be useless.

      • You cant disable the telstra one app unfortunately.

Nice to see local stock being cheaper than kogan but for around $500 you can also get an Australian Galaxy S3 4G.

Why would you get plastic over aluminium?

    • +7

HTC One mini would be more fluid and lag free compared to the S3.
And if you wanna get the S3, you might wanna consider the HTC One XL 4G for $389, very similar performance.

exactly, many Samsung phones will become laggy after using them for a few months.

        • The Galaxy S1 did, but the S2 and S3 have both been fine. JB on the S3 is smooth.

        • +2

note 2 is not. The hardware specs can gurantee to run smoothly on Stock Android but not on Samsung's own version which contains bloatwares.

  • How do you know it is unlocked?

    • +2

I asked the sales rep in store.

Full size htc one is $617 @ HN with 10% trade in http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/117761 and no Telstra bloatware.

  • Cant wait for future HTC fones, no more beats logo!

  • Looks like there is a banner on that order page advertising a free set of Beats Pill bluetooth speakers with the purchase of the mini, wonder if its only if you sign up to a plan or if it can be claimed with the outright purchase.

    • The free speaker is given away only to those who sign-up on their plans ONLINE.

Good price for this phone. But this is not a good phone for the price.

      U r a nice person but a nice person is not u.

      • +1

        Well thank you.

Yes, I am a nice person and no, other nice people are not me.

To O15: Nice contradiction given if you know what you were talking about. HTC one is the best Android phone of the year by many tech reviewers and the mini version is not too far off.

      • +2

        It's not a contradiction.

Seeing as you're having difficulty comprehending what I am saying, I am simply stating that; this is a good price for this phone, when comparing the price to other retailers. However, this is not a good phone for $480, when you look at what else you can get for the same or similar money.

        • Agree. For $480 you get quite a few choices out there even i think a nexus 5 won't be more than $480.

      • HTC One is the best Android phone of the year

        Sony Xperia Z1 FTW!!

  • You didn't happen to get this at the Watergardens telstra store did you?

    • +1

lol no, did someone get the last phone from store?

  • +2

When they say mini I really want a Mini i.e 3.5" screen at 90grams…..

Not a medium. With sub par specs

At 4.3' may as well get the nexus 4 at 4.7" , better specs, cheaper and faster updates

    • +1

Depends on what you mean by better spec?

Nexus 4 has a better chip and more ram, but HTC One mini has better pixel density (341 vs 320 ppi) and 4G…

To me 4G is more important. As for the spec, as long as it's not laggy when I do the standard phone calls, web browsing etc I am happy.

And the design of HTC One mini just has a more premium feel to it IMO.

Sure Nexus 5 may come out soon enough a winner with 4G and fix load of bugs found in Nexus 4.

  • No idea why they're calling this a 'mini', if you've seen it side by side with the normal htc one it's not much smaller at all. also that ugly, ugly plastic bezel. no idea why anyone would choose this over the original One.

  • All telstra bloatware can be easily removed. Just root your phone and clean it up. You can always unroot once it's done if you prefer it that way (although no point).
