This one would be better for those who want a Wacom stylus for notes, annotation, or sketches.
What's a good sketching software? I've never had a stylus before, but want to try it. Obviously works in Paint, but that's not very sophisticated. I downloaded Autodesk Sketchbook Pro trial version, but for some reason it doesn't seem to work. It installs and launches fine, all the toolbars are there, but where (I think) I should see the actual canvas or the drawing surface, there's just some garbled colourful mess. Don't know what's wrong there and haven't had the time to try and figure it out. But could someone recommend some other good sketching software? Preferably freeware, if such exists.
About the tablet itself, I've got to say I'm pleasurably surprised with the battery life and the keyboard feel. The speed of the internal SSD could be better though. Any ideas if it could be replaceable?

No, there were two listings one for $349 which sometimes went to a 505 page and sometimes went to the product and the $699 page which was always up.
so far it looks like the price is still at $349 though it is out of stock, so hopefully its not a pricing error.

which store did you see it at, as i'm not seeing the option for click and collect, only home delivery.
I can confirm that they indeed are selling it at the stated price and there is still stock somewhere. I Just went to my local DSE (Shepparton VIC), pointed out the deal from their own web site and bought the laptop. Seems pretty nice, even comes with a stylus and a leather folio case. I still hate Windows 8, but other than that seems like a great deal for the price.
Did it come with the keyboard dock?
Ah yes, didn't notice that was being questioned originally. But yes, it certainly did come with the keyboard. It feels pretty decent too. I haven't had any trouble with the touch screen responsiveness, it feels fluent and accurate and it does work on the desktop side also.
I could not find a reason to buy it. I have two iPads, two laptops, 2 desktops, 2 HTPC, Nexus phone, 2 Kobo Glo :p
All I do is checking emails, facebook, browsing and of course the most important is to check ozbargain :)
go to tablet pc forums and make sure you have the latest stable drivers
the update tool doesnt have the latest ones
there is a bug with the touchpad on the dock where it disables once you undock
you have to manually enable via function key

guys, confirmed that there is no pricing error. parramatta store has few in stock and a big sign of 50% off.
I was about to buy but didn't buy it after some unsatisfactory results. such as mouse not responding properly, touch screen was not impressive, when changed to desktop mode in window 8- I found touch screen not working. only in tiled window touch screen working. may be all these problems because it was a display model.and cause they didnt update the drivers
just received a email stating that its shipped, very happy i didn't end up pulling the trigger on a note 10.1.

order confirmation was 10:30 am, shame you can't see what stock is available, as its been confirmed that there is stock remaining instore. I guess the best option would be to call a store and ask them where there is stock. BTW, where abouts do i go to download the latest drivers, someone mentioned tablet pc forums…

Sydney's Broadway store had 4 by 2.30pm, I grabbed one of them.
Seems good value, but before opening it I would like to know how the performance is, say compared to an iPad 3 or 4 in terms of doing some basic things? Is the Atom so slow that it is no fun operating this tablet or is it fine to write a letter in Word and watch a movie using VLC player? How about surfing using Chrome? I guess I will find out later today…
Will struggle when multitasking, which iPad is not capable of.. So if you keep doing one thing at a time. It will be fine.
You'll be surprised, it doesn't struggle with light multitasking of basic apps like web browsers on normal websites and MS Office.
You might be thinking of the oldschool Atom netbooks which were horrible at multitasking. Or anything, really.
Fair enough. I was seriously considering getting this but I got a ex demo missing charger Macbook air for only $460 yesterday with full warranty.
i think the comments mentioned in the previous ozbargain deal are pretty good, http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/117338, for $600 i wouldn't have bought it as baytrail is coming out, but for $349 i think its pretty good value for what it can do.
Had no use for it since I've already got 2 laptops and a tablet but I've wanted a Wacom for ages so that got me over the line. Biggest ozbargain impulse buy yet.
Bought one at the Burwood store at 5:30, might still be a few left + display unit.

I was able to pick up one from Highpoint at around 5pm. Was tempted at waiting for the baytrail, but I really wanted the Wacom pen.
Its $50 more to get 1 year extra warranty do you guys think its worth adding it on .

Went to Sydney Westfield store but they were out of stock. I was able to get one on order, though. They should have it ready for collection it in about a week's time. BTW, this deal expires tomorrow.
I bought one friday and used for 2 days and when i turned up to full brightness it was very bright. But today at full brightness it was a lot darker, i took it back and got another one. Asus live update updated it this morning maybe that caused the problem, anyone else notice this.
Ummm, I had a similar problem, but when I turned autobrightness off, it went back to normal :)

For anyone who missed out, I have a spare unopened one that I am willing to sell at cost + postage if necessary. I live at postcode 2035 and work in the Sydney CBD and I have been playing email ping-pong with the store who processed my on-line order and charged my credit card despite telling me they would cancel the order as requested over the phone so I could buy it in-store instead. I only wanted one.
