Hey Guys

Good deal I think… Was looking for them.. In Melbourne none of David Jones have them in stock.. All have Synergy.. Myer won't price match says under their cost blah…

Wife loved the weight.. and I liked the looks better than Synergy..

Normally for $395 around major online and shopfront retailers!!!

Picked up Global Ikasu + Minosharp 3 with pricematch and nego from another retailer as these guys didn't have minosharp.. Hope a good buy to give to wife as gift :) !!!

Congrats to all you Western Australians who get cheaper postage for once!

Couldn't help reading that like Stevie from Malcolm in the middle lol.

  • I have this set of knives, it is one of the best investments in the kitchen you can make.

The G2 Knife is an absolute dream to cut with.

Together with the recommended Sharpener (circa $40), these knives have lasted me more than 10 years and still as sharp as Day 1.

RRP of $600+ is a bit over the top but $285 is a good price, I paid $299 @ WAHS ten years ago when they were @ Queen Street Perth CBD.

  • Great price! I have a set of these, bought around $350 last year.
Global knives are top quality, razor sharp and durable. My whole family loves it, one of my best investments too.

  • I got this exact set of knives…. had them for about 3-4 years now, best thing I've ever bought for the kitchen.
Under $300 is an awesome price.

Get a global grinding stone (double sided 1000/240 grit), and keep the blockset like razorblades.

  • OP you and others' comment make me want to buy one….. What shall I do?

Look at pocket and buy :)

It was impulsive for me as well after reading online and seeing post deals etc.. Anything under $300 for these is excellent price apparently.. and if u like lightweight ones.. there is only this and Shun.. and my wife liked this..

Hope she does not see the bill :( It's a luxury we don't need right now and rather pay bills for new house but couldn't resist..

Thanks for the reply OP. Any recommendation on the sharpener? There is one on the website for 39.95. (http://www.wahs.com.au/product.php?id=1372) Not sure if it's any good.
Where did you get yours? I'm in Sydney.

These are the ones I use with the Globals.

10 - 15 Strokes with the Coarse Wheel.

Then repeat with the Fine Wheel.

          Sharp as bro.

          The sharpener works well.

  • I have the chefs knife for this one and i love it…however i have checked out this particular knife block before and it is flimsy as hell. Just fyi. Knives on its own are amazing though. Good deal for the whole set

    • i have checked out this particular knife block before and it is flimsy as hell.

i own this block and its in no way flimsy even in the slightest.

      • I own this knife block too lol. I think they might mean the plastic 'glass' part which is a bit thin and cheaper feeling. But the bamboo part is quite solid. Overall I like it.

      • I have the block and the bamboo part is solid. I prefer it over the other blocks as it takes up less bench space. The perspex is flimsy but it is just a guard and doesn't form part of the structure. Recommend this set. Own one and purchased the same set for my mother.

  • Just grabbed a set as I'd been waiting for a while for them to come back on special. Thanks OP!

    • me too :)

  • Awesome - my wife has somehow lost two of her global knives from this set.

Almost cheaper to pick this up and use my remaining knives has spares rather than spending $200+ to replace 2 knives.

Myer Perth CBD price matched for me!! I just picked one up for $285 in my lunch break. Saved me a drive to Balcatta. Just registered with OzBargain to say thanks OP!!

  • Price now $395.

  • Rang them up and asked if they had any more at that price…. They had two and I took one today. Great service!

  • We have Global Ikasu back at $285 for a strictly limited time

  • Sorry the special has now finished
