Pretty similar to the previous deal although instead of all the subs constrained to the $5 range (pizza, ham etc) you can now get the chicken strip which is usually $7.20 plus a free 600ml bottle of water.

    • less than 6 grams of fat

You can also gain fat (weight) eating Carbs . All in Moderation is good

6 inch subs average 45 grams of Carbs (Average intake adult is 300 grams/day iirc)

      • so if I eat six of these every day I'm good right?

        • That depends if you get your sub toasted with cheese or not as the fat count on their website is without cheese.

        • +26

How much fat does toasting add?

        • should have written "sub with Cheese added". Thought everyone get it toasted :)

        • +3

Depends how gross the toaster is.

If you are eating 300g of carbs a day and not doing some kind of training you'll most likely be putting on weight, unless you are already super lean and have a cranking metabolism.

I don't know why people are so obsessed with fat, eating fat is good for you and doesn't make you fat!

Eating too much saturated fat can increase your cholesterol, but it's mostly the processed carbs (read bread) + sugar that will turn you into a nom nom bunny.

        • I'd have stayed on the Atkins diet if it wasn't so damn expensive. Lost weight easily with it though; went from 'overweight' to a BMI of 20 in just 2 months.

        • People on high carb diets probably need to worry about fat because the fat is directly stored as fat unless they use up the energy from the carbs and sugars in the bloodstream and empty out the glycogen stored in the liver.. Everyone has different levels of fitness and activity, so some will stress out more about those quantities of fat, than those that burn through a ton of energy and are always active.

        • I've tried eating instant noodles, snacks, and ice creams every midnight and still skinny.. I think I have a cranking metabolism!!

The only things that increase are my cholesterol and triglyceride sigh

    • +3

I just ate a chocolate drumstick, which I'm pretty sure shat all over those subs in the fat section…

What's the deal with the thumbnail?

    • +1

Subway don't allow Ozbargain to use their logo, as the thumbnail explains 'subway claims that thumbnails breach copyright' it's not worth the legal hassle for Ozbargain.

      • Is this for real? They don't want free advertising for their promotions?

        • +1

You know deals for McDonalds were banned for a long time because McDonalds does not want us to know about any offers that have.

        • +3

In fairness to the company, Ozbargainers have been known to occasionally abuse the crap out of a deal.

        • stupid considering their deals show on the advertisement banners

    • Subway have threatened Ozbargain with legal action before.

    • +3

      I know…wierd right? The 'B' should be an '8'.

    • +19

      subway dont deserve our business.

      • -1

        Sorry but why not?

If the deal is good, its our MO right?

    • +48

so it's Subway's fault that your brother is an idiot?

      • -2

You think a Subway person could possibly think someone would want a Subway with nothing on it but roast beef, even without the benefit of being told by the customer that he wanted a lot on it? My brother's mistake was not keeping an eagle eye on them for gross incompetence, but that is not an excuse for gross incompetence.

        • -4

Whilst some of you may have Long memeories these guys probably can't remember their own names if it wasn't for the name tag on thier shirts. If they were bright they probably woudnt work at slave labor wages at subway.

One them forgot what salad I wanted 5 seconds after i told them what i wanted, I was the only person in the store as well.

I told them I wanted all salad except for olives. 5 seconds later I get asked "Do i want lettuce?"

Do you really expect them to remember what you wanted with all these customers makes it even harder if they have to toast orders and the order of the customers get mixed up. If your not there to give them instructions they go "pffff" and pass the sub to the checkout.

    • -6

I too have a long memory, I got sick off the meatball sub and haven't gone back since

    • +2

Yeah I don't see how that is entirely their fault, he should have watched.

However my cousin almost died from food poisoning from Subway. He was violently ill and passing out several times, it was so bad they actually called in the immediate family in case he didn't wake up, then they discovered it was food poisoning and got him fixed up.

    • +11

Still waiting for the funny story….even if your brother didn't watch them being made why not go back? Its 500m away…

      • -4

Whatever- I won't be back- end of.

        • +2

No great loss- Subway is a marginal proposition in any event. Couldn't be bothered picking up my birthday freebie a couple of weeks ago. Or last years come to think of it.

        • +3

hang on there is birthday freebie?

Join up to the eat fresh club and you get an email around a week before your birthday.

        • +1

yes it doesnt even have to be your real birthday. if you miss it you can change your birthday to a day more suitable. lol no question asked.

        • How many fictitious birthdays are allowed?

        • Depends how old you want to be.

    • @ shaybisc

I reckon he must have done it to piss you off. Hard not to notice the mass differential between 2 subs with only roast beef on them, and 2 fully loaded subs.

  • The Westfield Knox store are not participating in this promo.

    • +2

In the centre or the one across the road? I know the one across the road are pretty bad. They tried to refust the birthday offers last year for me

      • +1

In the centre, she said they get shit all support from head office so it's not worth it and the last promo just ended.

  • good deal, healthier and better choices

  • +1

I would need to eat a chocolate bar or something after this or I would be hungry.. kinda defeats the purpose of low fat..

  • is there a start date?

I just went to subway in surry hills on devonshire and they told me it starts next monday?

    • +6

It started 10 minutes ago for me. burp!
      Thanks OP.

    • just went to subway and got one now.

  • -2

You lost me as soon as you mentioned "water".

    • I got the roast beef and asked for a Coke Zero instead of the water. Cost me $5.30. Bargain for some taste and some badass phenylketonurics.

  • +2

wish they stop promoting bottled water though.

    • +1

      Good luck with that

    • I like the water option my dogs like to have cold water there but I prefer thelast flavour Turkey is good but that was already one

  • -2

This just in, SUBWAY ISN'T HEALTHY!? D:

    Hehe.

    • +2

It can be, or at least a healthier option. Just for myself I like to get multigrain bread, most salad, no sauce, no salt/pepper. Not the healthiest thing I could have, but still not too bad.

      • +4

Nothing wrong with pepper. Treat yourself.

        • Black pepper also stems bleeding almost instantly from minor cuts.
Never had a major bleed-out but a big heap of pepper may stop those too?

        • thanks for that tip. interesting

        • +2

no probs, but not recommended for nose-bleed!

  • Cheers for the bargain!
Just got a multi-grain, chicken strip, 5 main salad meal with the water (no sauces or cheese - for more verbose health reasons; the health nut I am).

TBH, tastes pretty good. Most eat-out w/o sauces taste like crap, and its all $5 - pretty good deal for me.

    • +2

sweet onion is a good sauce that is not too bad for you, goes well on the turkey and chicken subs

      • Thanks for the tip, ill try it next time i grab one.

  • +1

Is this still available?? I went to my local subway and they said no.. but its still on their website?

  • Just went to the Pirrie St store in Adelaide. They had no advertising for this deal anywhere, but I mentioned it and they said yes.

Not bad: a $7.20 sub and a "$4" bottle of water for $5
