Cheap way to add steam funds

Now that ebgames has put the price up to AUD$23 for USD$20, see here, does anyone know what the cheapest way to add funds is? Using paypal/CC has fees and average exchange rate.

I'd suggest you roll an old lady or something. You might get lucky with cash or credit cards. Try and stay away from Maori bouncers though, it probably won't work out so well for you otherwise.

Otherwise, in general, I get my steam keys from cheap sites… It's generally better than anything that EBGames or Steam direct will offer.

This. I have $16 in steam from selling trading cards and I can never spend it because I can't justify paying more for an item directly on steam.

PS: Try selling all your trading cards maybe?

  • I haven't bought anything directly from Steam for a while now. Amazon, Green Man Gaming, and Gamefly are now my preferred online game retailers. Buying from Steam is like buying from the Harvey Norman of game retailers — they both like ripping Australians off.

Go to reddit/r/gamedeals if you want to get the latest scoop on video game bargains.

I don't think Steam specifically rips Australians off. All Valve games are still equally priced. The difference is just that when you buy off Amazon, etc you can buy at the US price and Amazon pretend that they aren't selling to Australians.

    • I'm up to date with my steam library for now. I want to add steam funds for in-game dota2 items, which is not something I do often, but they are releasing a portal pack which I can't say no to. I'll check out /r/gamedeals in future though.
