Just got an email from zavvi looks like the Third Street Saints are trying their best to make any money what so ever. Dont know what the price is elsewhere but $45 seems pretty cheap for a brand new game. I have no idea about zavvi delivery so i would not be the best person to ask.
Enjoy

No, it isn't cheap. It's a business model to get you into the game early and then make you pay full price for DLC. As opposed to waiting for price drops on everything.

It's a different business model that gets just as much money from the same people that are used to paying $70 for a game in the days before DLC existed. But also gets money from cheap asses who will buy the base game but not DLC. Hence more profit. Thus its a good business model, rather than 'going cheap early'.

What skews one's perspective slightly is that franchises like EB and publishers like EA still price as though DLC doesn't exist - ie: pay $70ish for just the base game.

    • Not because it competing in sales with GTA V?

      • Fair point. But I'm still surprised at the negs - it's how games with DLC work these days.

          The negs are for

          No, it isn't cheap

Because currently it seems to be the best deal.

I agree with most of what you're saying about DLC and prices. I hate DLC mainly because it means that 6 months after I've 100%'ed the trophies they release 3 new DLC packs and I'm down to 65% :(

This is why I say screw release day buying, wait for the GoTY/full package/essentials release. $25 and it gets you everything.

If you also agree it is the best deal, doesn't it deserve a + vote from you?

        • While this price is good compared to other stores, I do not like the deal (see above). Also all I've heard about the game is it just feels like DLC for Saints Row 3, not to mention performance issues on the PS3/Xbox360. So in my opinion the price is more than it's worth, but something I may pick up once it reaches the bargain bin.

          See SirFlibbled's comment below.

  • Warning: this game is still banned here in Australia and therefore may be seized by customs. Unlikely, but a risk you should factor when purchasing this game.

    • Jb hifi ar selling it so game isnt banned.
Maybe the uk version is uncut and therefore banned?

      • Yes, believe it got censored for Oz.

    • The game is not banned, the UK version is not the same as the Australian version which has been granted classification. Maybe customs will seize it, but I'm not even sure that they can/will if it is not imported for commercial purposes.

      • This version of the game is banned. This version received an RC classification. It was resubmitted with a mission being omitted to get the MA 15+ in Australia.

My main objection was to the word banned. Banned is used for items such as firearms and child pornography. Refused classification is not the same thing.

        • It is depending on your State like WA where it's an offence to possess an RC game.

Also under the customs regulation (r4A off memory) you can't import a game that's been classified RC.

What you say is true pseudopuppet, however if you get caught you are incredibly unlucky.

Our customs officers are much more focussed on finding illicit drugs/weapons than games. For you to be caught you need:

      1) A random spot check of your specific item. The customs officers do not have the time to check each individual parcel, and would usually have a dog/electronic scan thing neither of which would indicate whether a game/dvd is legal to sell within Australia.

      2) Upon conducting the random spot check, the officer will either have to have immediate knowledge that this game is illegal for sale within Australia, or will take the time (which could be used to search for drugs/weapons) to research whether the game is suitable for release.

I haven't personally had anything held at customs.

      • i brought back mortal kombat 4 when it was banned and the customs officer took it out and said "games are much cheaper over there huh".

        • Did you get your money back? How did they inform you?

I assume insular is refering to an incident at an airport.

  • Irritating. I bought this from EB Games and they wouldn't let me use that discount that someone posted on here a few weeks ago.
Haven't even loaded it yet. GTAV is so much fun at the moment.

I'd wait until it is cheaper. I've loved the series so far, but this is really a stone throw away from DLC. The story is pretty much 'save person X from the matrix'. Once they're saved their missions are 'do these activites' (which are the activities on the map anyhow so not really new missions or anything)and a new loyalty mission.

Repeat 6 times. Then 3 final missions. Grind away collecting 1200 cluster and you're done.

Fun game but IMO worth about $20.
