GTA V + The Last of Us + 500GB PS3 Super Slim $297 Inc Shipping from Amazon UK

130

Saw this up on amazon uk (a regular haunt of mine) and noticed it shipped to aus.

In the Box

PS3 500GB Super Slim Console
1 x Wireless DualShock 3 Controller
AC power cord
AV cable
USB cable
Grand Theft Auto V

You would either need a uk plug adapter or an australian ps3 plug.

Note from below: UK consoles will run into trouble playing Australian DVDs. Games are A-Okay and Blurays are fine for the most part.

19/9:

The AU PS3 plug is simply a standard AU figure 8 plug

You can find these for $2-$8 if you use the right wording on eBay.

Here's a couple of cheapies but they are from HK.

    $2 $2.19

You can also use your old PS2 or PS1 power plug.

      • Well they're all the same figure 8 power cords. All you need is one of those. If you don't have one as i said only $5.95 from Jaycar.

  • +1

Yes all you need if one of those AU figure 8 power cords. The UK uses the same 240V power as here in Australia.

You can also buy one at Jaycar only $5.95 there

I wonder how you'll go for warranty with this UK PS3 console. Maybe have to send it back to the UK for warranty. That could take some time.

  • Isn't the UK model locked to DVD region 2

    • Yes it would be. Although it would be locked to blu-ray region B which is the same region as Australia so you would be fine when it comes to blu-ray.

      • So the consensus on region locked media is..

        Games: All okay
Bluray: Region B (Aus, Nz, Europe)
        Dvd: Region 2 (Europe only)

        • +1

          Yes that seems right

        • Updated the top post. I don't think many Blurays are region locked anyway but would hate to disappoint someone wanting to watch their DVD copy of Dirty Dancing. :P

        • All blu-ray movies bought from the UK (Amazon UK, Zavvi, The Hut etc) and those bought from Australian retailers would be fine obviously. It's only blu-rays bought from the US which are strictly region A locked is where you'll run into troubles. But that's the same with an Australian PS3 console too.

  • Its almost worth it just for GTA V and the last of us…

  • Only problem with this deal is warranty issues.

    • Yeah. You'll be sending the console back to the UK for warranty which could take some time as i said. Although Amazon UK might pay for the return postage if it's DOA i don't know.

  • $359 at target. Yeah maybe a little more but Aussie stock and Aussie warranty, Plus you can get it straight away and not have to wait.

    • Yeah considering that you'll need to spend atleast $6 more for the AU power cord for this UK console which brings it over $300 any how. That AU console deal looks good for Australian warranty reasons plus it plays region 4 DVD. And as you said you could pick it up and be using the console today.

      • True, also you would be eligible for pricedrop protection with the 28 degrees card which would be significant after the ps4 release. Food for thought.

  • So which deal is better? This one or the one at KMart for 12GB PS3? Can we replace the 12GB SSD in that model with a normal laptop HDD? Sony PS3 website has a video showing this but they don't mention if that's an SSD or an HDD.

    • there is no HDD/SSD on the 12GB PS3. its flash memory.

you will need to buy the hdd caddy for about $12 from jbhifi then just place the hdd and start up.

      • Okay. Thanks for pointing that out.

  • Yeah this is a good deal for 500 gb ps3 + gta v.

But if you have a spare 2.5 hdd lying around. Go for Kmart deal.

    ps3 12 GB from Kmart $179
Hdd caddy from jb hifi $12
    GTA V from Kmart/target $79
    Total $270.

plus if you got ing pay wave cash back. Further 5% off making it $256.50.

    • Visa paywave only allows you to make payments up to $100. No go there.
