Learn Finance for Startups—> TECHCRUNCH100 sold out

    • Now we need a course called "Learn Finance for Learn Finance for Startups"

  • Nudge Nudge, Thanks WNK

  • +1

Missed out on the Finance one. Poo. Could have done with that. Thanks OP. +1.

  • Argh. Missed out on the finance one as well. I wonder what's covered.

    • Go to Deal. Click "Free Preview". Sign-in and see for yourself. You have 5 minutes to view, study and download the course.

      • Some lectures are free if you scroll down. Sorry, I couldn't find another code except discounted one FORBES50. Full credit goes to OZbargain user Lurker who found a free coupon for finance course again.

        • +1

Coupon for 100%: Learn Finance for Startups ——>>> FORBES100 . Its working.

        • Thanks for that..

        • +2

          FORBES100 sold out now :(

        • Gone again.. :)

        • I created these codes for readers of Forbes and attendees of the TechCrunch conference.

Why do you take them from their intended audience and place them here? Now the people who I created these codes for can't access the course.

        • +2

Actually, I didn't take it from anyone intended audience. Anyhow, It has been leaked onto web. Sorry, I was not aware that you had created those codes for a conference. Normally, course conductors offer free coupons on various social networks? Isn't it? As you previously did on reddit or twitter.
Please accept my apology on this…

Any free or discounted codes for OZB community??

        • -1

          Apology accepted.

          You can use OZ25 for $25 — https://www.udemy.com/financeforstartups/?couponCode=OZ25

        • It's too much for OZB.
          Any free coupons?

        • -3

No. It took me four weeks to create the course. Why do you expect to have it for free?

        • Thanks Lili. Took it at $25.

        • -2

Thank you. I appreciate your kind gesture. I spend a lot of time on this course. It took me a month to create all the materials. I do a live monthly broadcast to answer all questions asked by students. I am constantly finding new ways to make the course fun.

I will send you, and anyone who comes in on OZ25, a free code to the advanced, interactive course Lean Finance for Startups Live, which is valued at $199 and launches on September 16th.

I want people to understand why I am taking issue with people who used the codes:

When people came into the course using the TECHCRUNCH100 or FORBES100 code they made it impossible for those I sent the code to use it. When the intended audience went to use the code(s) it said sold out. That is not fair to them. That is not fair to me.

I have asked nicely for people to exit the course. Now, I'm getting hate mail from someone named Daniel.

My goal is to teach people about the financial aspects of building a company. One of the most important lessons is that you need to make money. If I gave every person in the world a free pass to my course, I would not be following my own advice. :)

Thank you to everyone who supports my work. $25 seems like a small amount of money, but it covers the time I spend on the course.

        • I've created a free YouTube channel here — http://www.youtube.com/user/LiliBalfour

I've loaded 8 videos from the course and 1 brand new video. I will load more brand new videos in the next few weeks. Subscribe so you'll get notified when the videos are loaded.

Here's the $15 code, but it is LIMITED https://www.udemy.com/financeforstartups/?couponCode=OZ15

        • I created this free version for anyone who was not able to swing the $15 coupon (OZ15). :)

          https://www.udemy.com/leanfinanceforstartupslive/

  • all sold out, please update

      • +1

        Hi,
Sorry, I cannot activate after it's sold out since I'm not the course coordinator or a rep in udemy.
        Coupons were extracted from web.

  • +1

I'm not sure about that PR one - she seems to just have a degree in marketing, rather than much actual experience.

    Still, if it's free…

    • Hmm Yes. I added since it's top rated.

  • anyone have code for [3. Learn Joomla 2.5 from scratch]?

    xx,

It has been brought to my attention that you used a code TECHCRUNCH100 that was intended for TechCrunch attendees.

Please exit this course immediately. I have reported this problem to Udemy, but will give you the opportunity to remove yourself before any further action is taken.

    Lili

    • +2

      Hope you have red this
I wonder why she can't generate an another free code for them.
Leaking the code into web is not our problem. There are plenty of free udemy coupon codes are on web..

    • +2

You should be scared about further action from Lili. She is going to ask the principal of Udemy to issue a reprimand on your school report card and send it to your parents. You are going to get the caning of your life when you return home, thsydney.

  • Yes, that is correct. This code was for a specific group of people. Now they can't use the code. If you entered using the codes above, you should exit the course.

It took me a long time to create this course. I'm not sure why you think you should have it for free.

  • 5 is soldout.

  • 2 & 4 are sold out.

  • Daniel - When you file your lawsuit, you will want to name me as the party. Udemy is not responsible for my actions.

Please file your lawsuit today. I am eager to resolve this dispute. My attorney is waiting.

    Lili

  • You know what Lili?

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. I didn't tell you because frankly, you didn't ask.

I stated several times I did NOT receive the code from here. Took me a while to remember but a few days ago, I spotted where I got it from.

That's right…I got it FROM YOU!

    Yes, you.

(not revealing how or where. Udemy will make you aware of it when it's time or if you really want me to I can post it here…but the last things I want to do is make you look bad…more on that in a moment)

I only come to ozbargain on the off chance I find a code I didn't come by through browsing the interwebs.

Now, you wrote me back about defamation of character counter-suit…

You know what? Your timing couldn't have been more perfect. Some friends of mine are going through it right now. I know first hand what it's like to deal with issues of that nature…and let me tell you, it ain't pretty.

Looks all good on paper until you actually live through it…

All the time, energy and money spent…You come back home indignant with nothing to show for it but heartache. No one wins….ever.

Is it really worth fighting over a coupon?

I decided to do something today I hadn't considered doing. I decided to pretend this whole matter didn't exist. I decided to pretend I was still looking into buying your course and do more research on you….

And you know what I found?

    You're freakin amazing!

You care a heck of a look about people, honesty, truth and helping give entrepreneurs a leg up. You care about kids (My newborn is turning 1 years old in a month), animals, fighting injustice, belief in God and so much more.

For heaven's sakes: you like Blink 182. (Saw Weezer a few years back and they were amazing)

(side note: I read through your twitter/facebook postings and felt inspired by all of teh good you're striving to do)

I have an old contact of mine whose going through this huge lawsuit over defamation of character.

I know both parties personally…and all I want to do is slap them up side the head and tell them "you numb skulls…why are you fighting? The only reason this is going on is miscommunication and getting all worked up about it"

And you know what? I think that's what's happening here…

I'm actually grateful you broght this up….

My friend's business is suffering…his wife holding back tears most days and their kids hardly ever see their dad. Everyone's lives are affected by this ridiculous dispute.

Warren Buffett once said it takes years to build a reputation and 5 minutes to destroy it.

I want to make something clear to everyone here on ozbargain and the online world:

I don't know Lili personally. I haven't even gone through her course. (she never gave me the chance :P)

In fact, looking at the TOC, her course looks "balls to the walls" amazing.

I have no dealings with her personally or professionally and for all I know she could be the kindest, sweetest, coolest person you've ever met.

What I am going to say is the comments I made or messaged to her were personal opinions ONLY based on her behavior in her treatment of me in this very specific circumstance.

And you know what? She's human. Heck, Lili could be going through a terrible divorce, or lost a mother or worrying about a sick child…or maybe she's against freebie seeking.

Lili deserves the benefit of the doubt. Everyone does…

The ONLY reason I placed these messages here was as a warning to protect others on this site who might consider using a free code to get her course AND as a record of our communications in case they disappeared. I had no idea whether I would be removed from the course and have our communications deleted.

I just didn't want someone else being treated the way I was…that's all.

I want to say this again:

If I left any impression or implied anything negative concerning Lili or her course, you are clearly mistaken.

I'm sure there are people here who believe I could be at fault and that's ok. People are entitled to their opinion.

I want to say this again:

Nothing here should be taken as a judgement of her skill, her competency, her personality or the legitimacy or effectiveness of her course or work.

The comments were posted here were a warning to others who decide to join her course for free …nothing more, nothing less.

And again …just so I get it through to everyone:

Lili could be an amazing person, amazing business strategist, financier, and so much more. In fact, if you're a potential startup entrepreneur, you should check her course out. I've heard wonderful things and you know what?

Even after all of this, I still trust the recommendations I received.

If I am removed from the course I'll still look into joining her course at a later time (including her new advanced live course)

I still feel personally the behavior I was subjected to was wrong and unprofessional IN THIS PERSONAL AND INDIVIDUAL CIRCUMSTANCE! You may or may not experience anything but pure joy from dealing with Lili and from what I can tell, a LOT of good people sing her praises and rightly so.

She worked hard on this course. It shows just from the TOC and she's probably worked harder to get it to #1 finance course on Udemy.

I have no idea why she behaved the way she did towards me but frankly, I can't judge a person based on one simple online interaction.

Looking at the whole, Lili has friends, colleagues, clients and even family who look like they'd stand up for her. She promotes quality information and freedom to those looking to better their lives.

In other words - there's a good chance she's an amazing person and simply reacting to the whole "code" thing for some other reason than I can understand.

And she doesn't deserve to be judged or looked at poorly over one reaction to a simple mistake.

I've made more than enough mistakes in my life I wish I could take back. And even more in business.

Looking back I wish I wasn't judged so poorly because of my inexperience in dealing with a new challenge.

This code leak wasn't intended, nor was it something Lili was expecting and that's probably why she's acted the way she did. She didn't see it as a opportunity and that's ok. I personally believe she could have but she's entitled to her opinion. It's her course and she can see fit to promote it however she likes.

    To Lili -

I believe I shouldn't have been treated the way I was.

Civility and kindness go a lot further than bitterness or assumptions.

I apologize to you Lili if this situation's caused you any unintended distress.

I'll be honest: the way you treated me has affected me a lot. I know it's unmanly to admit things like this but I'm strong enough to admit it.

This ridiculous issue's been on my mind gnawing at me.

My work requires creativity and any type of stress or fatigue negates that little voice inside that gives me "aha" moments I need to knock things out of the park for my clients. All I need is one bad day close to deadline time and it can mean the difference between making 5K or 10K that month.

This whole situation is not worth the imaginary digital ink these words are typed on.

Despite everything, I'm going to take a page out of the book of Lili Balfour who posted these quotes on her facebook page:

"Be kind to unkind people. They need it most."

"Do not let the behaviors of others disturb your inner peace" - Dalia Lama

"Miracles begin when we consider the possibility that there might be another way." Marianne Williamson

Lili - thank you for providing codes to help people afford your course who couldn't otherwise afford it. You obviously care about people or you wouldn't have created them in the first place.

Thank you for taking the time and energy to develop an amazing course to help people who dream of creating a better life for themselves and the world.

Thank you Lili for reminding me that in the end it's not how others react but how you choose to act that makes all of the difference in the world.

Thank you Lili for reminding me it's important to stick up for what right AND STILL not hold negative feelings against others who contradict you. You can still triumph without bitterness.

Thank you Lili for reminding me to "Seek first to understand", one of the principles of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R Covey (one of my mentors)

And thank you Lili for reminding me there's more to people than meets the eye…that sometimes hiding behind of the bitterness, hate or malice we sometimes perceive, there exists a person a real life and heart. There's good in everyone if we just choose to see it…even in ourselves.

Lili - I'm going to my previous posts deleted because you deserve to benefit of the doubt. We'll let Udemy figure out this whole coupon matter.

I'll find a way to get those previous posts deleted one way or another. My apologies for bringing all of this here online. You deserve better. I deserve better.

Let's go on with our lives striving to do good in the world instead bickering over whatever the heck this is.

Let this all be done and over with.

    Keep on rocking,

    • Daniel-San

PS- How was the Blink 182 concert? one word: jealous :P
