Be quick guys!

      • Look in the comments above to find the answer.

        • Finally worked it now… Lol, thnz, I hope they'll honour it.

  • Well, using the voucher I bought an S4 for $591.99 delivered. I know this might enrage fellow Ozbargainers. But it still is a decent price.

    • Well, it appears I have some support in my quest for the best price on an S4. If I end up accumulating more negative votes than positives for my actions, then it would suggest ethics wins over the pursuit of the bargain! I'm surprised ethics even come into it. But again, tell me where I can find cheaper! I still need one more phone.

      • We Ozbargainers are after the best bargin which is sometimes NOT the cheapest initial price. Put a value on your time, and the hassles one might have to endure when dealing with hard-nosed companies over warranty/cancellations/product not as you expected. Kogan's got form. I ordered an Ozbargin Nexus4 $250 3 days ago and, after mental turmoil, decided not to cancel that and order this Kogan "deal". Point being I could have, and it is very easy to, cancel. Got an email this morning advising it has been sent and tracking number. And I can still cancel if I wanted too (the only one aloud to cancel a Kogan order is Kogan; and they do!)And I recon warrenty support will be good…any problems just return to Google. Now, Kogan Mobile….should I sign up? Oops too late.

congratulations on the first bait n switch victim

    Good marketing strategy…….cheap popularity….
customer Trust on company is important but here kogan lost customer trust one more time ……..

Has anyone who paid via Paypal received there refund yet from Kogan?

    • +3

I don't think anyone's received a refund yet.. and kogans spiel about taking 24-48 hrs for it to happen, will mysteriously take 7 days..

    • +3

I still have not got mine, am wondering if I should lodge a dispute on the PayPal end.

      • +5

i already lodge mine this morning, but still no refund yet, i encourage people do lodge, so if paypal see this, paypal will put more effort to do refund faster by taking money (secure money) out of kogan

        • Thanks andyken, have lodged dispute. Says I need to wait 5 days till I can escalate to a claim, but hopefully it is sorted out before then.

        • +3

no refund to PayPal after the stated 24 hours. PayPal dispute lodged.
As copy of my reason gets sent to Kogan, I wrote:

Kogan took my order, then later advised there had been a 'pricing error' and would refund my money within 24 hours.

The money has not been refunded yet, despite there (once again) broken promise.

I either need a guarantee they will honour the purchase, or refund my purchase price immediately.

This whole debarcle feels like 'price baiting' and the company should be extremely ashamed of themselves. I will NEVER buy anything from Kogan again if the purchase is not honoured.

Well said mate! I will copy and paste the key points into my dispute. I think if we all start lodging disputes on PayPal they will have to assign a case manager to it and we might get a quicker response.

        • +4

Update: I called PayPal 1800 073 263 (toll free) and explained the situation, they escalated it straight to a claim without need to wait the 5 days in dispute process. Apparently it can still take 10 days though until PayPal can force reverse the transaction back to us. However they have taken the money from Kogan and keeping it in holding until the claim is investigated. Also if Kogan verify the pricing error to PayPal they will (PayPal) reverse the transaction instantly before the 10 day period.

Step 1: Lodge Dispute on PayPal website
Step 2: Call 1800 073 263 and advise you want issue escalated to a claim

        • +5

          OK,

Called PayPal and it has been immediately upgraded too.

Hopefully if enough people lodge paypal dispute, then phone up and have it upgraded, PayPal may have a little 'chat' to Kogan.

        • +1

Thanks for the heads up, did the same.
The guy on the phone said this is the second one he has dealt with tonight and was immediately upgraded to a claim.

        • +1

still haven't received my money, have just lodged a dispute as well, damn you Kogan

        • I got my refund an hour after it was upgraded to claim, has now been fully refunded! :)

        • got my money back this arvo

        • Thx mate, just escalated mine too

        • I have disputed as well.

    • Doesn't appear so because. If they keep our monies for 7 days, that's ridiculous.

    • I haven't… I paid by PayPal

  • My email said it will be within 24hrs, so they have about 50min to fulfil there part of the deal, which obviously wont happen.

If anyone isn't planning on using their coupon code before the expiry, I would like one.

  • Got my USB dispatched email and my 431 refunded. Some people can be god damn paranoid.

  • My $19 QI wireless charger receiver for my (now keeping) S3 was shipped today. Still no refund

  • Literally just got my refund. awesome.

    Dear Kogan,

This was the first time I have made an order from your company and will be the last.

I am now aware that this is not the first time you have made a similar "Pricing Error", and that you have pulled similar bait and switch tactics before.

It is especially dissapointing after you actually posted on Twitter (since deleted) that this was NOT a pricing error. If it is not an error was this must have been a deliberate ploy by your company to drive traffic to your web site, to get peoples names, email and postal addresses when they sign up and potentially make them buy something else from you with the $20 cancellation gift voucher?

A $20 "gift voucher" that requires me to spend $50 is little compensation for the inconvenience of your actions. I am disgusted by your lack of professionalism and will not be doing any business with your company in the future.

Please delete my fraudulantly obtained details from your database IMMEDIATELY, I do not wish to ever receive any SPAM emails from you in the future.

IF I RECEIVE SPAM EMAILS FROM YOU AT ANY TIME IN THE FUTURE I WILL BE TAKING FURTHER ACTION.

    • -3

What are you ranting on about, the gift code they gave you can be spend on anything on the store with no minimum spend.

      • +5

The rant I posted above was an email I sent to KOGAN as a direct reponse to the cancellation email from KOGAN which said stated the $50 minium spend requirement. I sent it before people began posting here that it actually works on anything. KOGAN SAID THE GIFT CODE REQUIRES A $50 MINIMUM SPEND.

That it works without a minimum spend is another pointer to KOGAN incompetence.

AS IS THEIR RESPONSE TO MY EMAIL in which I specifically requested my contact details to be deleted from their database advising me that I have now been SUBSCRIBED.

Did my rant above say "SUBSCRIBE ME TO MORE SPAM"?

        • -3

well if you didnt send a ranting email to kogan in the first place since it is pointless, thing would all be well.

        • -3

And if you didn't post a stupid comment I wouldn't be posting this one.

          And if I'm getting negged

"Glad the order was cancelled, much rather have an iPhone
          apple, apple apple"

        • -2

iphone is sh#t, I'll neg me myself for that

        • +3

Please delete my fraudulantly obtained details from your database IMMEDIATELY

So this could mean they didn't delete any of your details since they may not have been fraudulantly obtained.

Hahaha! I'm sorry, but you got Kogan'd!!

I love it - it's like they're doing it on purpose just for the lulz :P

Stuff bought with voucher has been dispatch, look like kogan end up giving everyone a free $20 to spend on their store. Not bad. Not sure if intentional but at least its better than amazon uk with their warmest regard.

    • +1

DX is a lot more generous with a 15% refund difference plus $5 coupon for the next 4 months.

      • +3

Grays gave me $50 voucher with no min spend, not bad too. Gerry Harvey gave all of us a professional title which is not bad too except for we never received our certificates.

  • Yay, got my full refund

  • bought a 2m lighting cable and usb rapid charger… $1

  • Refunded, not bad turn around, allthough would of liked them to keep my money and give me a an S4.

    • They rather lost $20 than $180 over 5000 orders.

  • I've got refunded and my $20 order has been shipped. Hope there are more price error from Kogan in the near future. Get free gifts for nothing. :)

    Word of the day: Kogan'd

  • +2

Anyone still waiting for the refund money to appear?

    • yes, still not refunded til today

    • Yes I'm waiting for my pay-pal refund.

  • +2

Kogan have done this many times before, I think they do this to collect customer data and spam you with garbage. Kogan are scum!

  • Two 1.2m HDMI cables for $20 Thank's Kogan for the free gift.

    • +4

Soooooo overpriced… it is like $3 on ebay?

  • +3

    Never again..
Kogan should be banned in Ozbargain from now on.

  • Anyone got their refund yet?

    • Seems if you raise it as a paypal dispute they refund it straight away . I have just done this will see how long it takes.

      • Check my comments above for how to escalate instantly to a PayPal claim. I got my refund within an hour.

        • My gf paid using C.C. and she hasn't receive the refund yet. What can she do?

  • no refund yet (paypal)

will not buy from kogan anymore!!!!

    unless:
    * looks like pricing error

    Refund is in. Check yours.

  • got the refund on paypal but in temporary hold status:

12 Sep 2013 Temporary Hold PlacedPayPal has placed a temporary hold while we're reviewing it. We'll contact you shortly with further information.PayPal has placed a temporary hold while we're reviewing it. We'll contact you shortly with further information. … -$431.99 AUD

    • yep, that is normal, it will take up to 2 days, always a drama when do a refund.

  • +2

Still no money in my Paypal account (Kogan again - over promise and under delivers)

Have just escalated to a claim as well

  • I'll wait 24hr before disputing this with Paypal. Called up Kogan to see what is the hold up on the refund. All they need to do is hit the refund button but I imagine there are protocols in place so they don't refund the wrong buyer. Had the same thing happen with a phone I purchased from Mobileciti Parramatta. They did a run around and only processed a refund after 10 days.

Sorry, I don't think the $20 voucher is worth it when you have to wait for them to refund your $432 back. Money can spent elsewhere. Not saying we are entitled to more but I can do without this experience.

    • +2

Agree, it's a below average experience.

Fortunately OzBargain made it a lot more interesting, the old saying goes sometimes it's not about the destination but the trip along the way.

  • +1

    Received my 32GB USB today.

    • Yeap.. i just got my 32gb drive as well.. it absolutely screams on USB2 so can't wait to see how fast it writes under usb 3 :)

  • hmm thats shitty for you all but at least they gave you a $20 coupon. I got screwed by a pricing error by harvey norman and i didn't get squat to compensate me.

    • +2

That's cause you're a professional and HN doesn't like professionals

  • +2

My refund came in, to be honest i've had lots of orders cancelled in my experience with bargain hunting, and rarely does a company offer $20 compensation, so i'm happy with my $9 USB stick and relatively quick refund. Amazon and deals direct just give you the bad luck, too bad so sad routine so i'm willing to give Kogan some respect for handling it better than i've experienced in the past with other businesses. No doubt it's ruffled some feathers in the office, I seriously doubt it was an intentional mistake.

    • +2

" I seriously doubt it was an intentional mistake."
yes. the same with $20 code that supposedly valid for purchase $50 or more :D

  • Might have slightly increased their refund/sale ratio, but on the books, those units still sold. :P

  • +2

Ordered the S4 on the 10th. Email from Kogan on the 11th advising error and refund within 24hrs. Nothing received on 13th so emailed Kogan with response saying will be refunded in next 24-48 hrs.

So regardless of whatever the email says i think refunds would take at least minimum 3 days (standard funds transfer times between banks unless its the same bank or sent via RTGS).

btw, rang paypal and the guy wasnt very helpful. basically said i had to contact Kogan about it and i have 45 days to lodge dispute claim. He was actually giving props to Kogan saying what a good and reliable client they were. reckon i got a dud operator to the other ppl here.

Fingers crossed its all sorted by tomorrow. (guess i got kogan'd, damn it!).

    • I got the same type of operator. They do have to be impartial but they should see the same over $400 amount being disputed as a sign.

  • Im still up for a voucher if someone isnt planning to use it :D "day dreaming"

    • i dont believe you didnt jump in buy the s4? really?

      • +1

had a gut feeling it was a pricing error after checking the Kogan USA website and didnt want to suffer any pain trying to get the money refunded

  • +2

    Refund still not received.

  • Can I have someones $20 voucher? :D

    • +2

      yes of course

  • +3

Called Kogan and below is part of the conversation:

Me: I still haven't receive the refund as mentioned on the email received.
Operator: Are you talking about S4 refund?
    Me: Yes.
Operator: All refund has been finalized. It will refund to your paypal or bank credit card within 24 hours.

    • +4

Glad to know I'm not the only one waiting on refunds.

I called yesterday after the initial 24hrs had passed and was told that my refunds would appear in my paypal account overnight…. didn't happen of course, and when I called this morning I was given the 24hrs spiel again. While I don't mind it taking time, I wish they'd just be honest about when it will actually happen. If they spent less time being deceptive about the whole process, fewer people like me would be hassling them and questioning ever more the possibility of buying from them in the future. :(

  • Spent the $20 voucher on the 2600mAh PowerBank, paid extra $4. the device didn't work. are all Kogan's brand stuff rubbish? :(

    • the device didn't work.

      Kogan'd much?

      • +2

yeah kogan'd and now I feel really smurf off! donated Kogan $4
I can get 8 soft-cone from Maccas with that!

        • Great, at least I don't have to pay for your medicare bills.

    • Send back for a replacement?
BTW I also bought one and it came today and works.

      • wait for a few days. i bought a lightning cable from Kogan and it only worked 3 times.

  • Thanks for the heads up, I was going to buy that…

  • -1

recieve Email from paypal says, refund has been sent, but not yet appear in my paypal account

  • +1

Called Paypal, they escalated my dispute to a claim but still asked me to wait 10 days for reply from Kogan before refund, despite i told them this is a pricing error and Kogan won't honor the purchase. The money was debited from my CC account for this failed transaction 2 days ago, WTF!

    • +1

Same for me, dispute already escalated to claim yesterday, no refund so far…

  • Still waiting on refund. No refund authorisation email forthcoming as yet either. I paid via paypal.

You're not alone if you're in the same boat.
