  Besides, I could never justify spending $2699 on a laptop. I'm just frothing at the crazy specs I could get with that money for a custom PC. But then again, it's not a laptop.

  As long as we can do it, theres about 30 in stock currently.. if Previous Retina deals are any indication… it wont last long.

  Worst case if we run out, just a few extra days for stock and we will make it very clear if we run out.

        Not really 2 new iPhones.

        They will be continuing the run of the current iPhone 5 in a new case and calling it 5C and bringing out the iPhone 5S or 6 as a slightly upgraded version. According to reports anyway.

        Personally I'd like to see Apple do something unexpected and follow Nokia. I would jump on an iOS equivalent of a Lumina 1020.

        41mp Camera, Battery Grip Case/Induction Charging Case, 4.5" screen.

        I'd buy that.

  This may be a good price for the item, but in terms of performance this is horrible value. Apart from the retina display you can get far better laptops for the same price or the same performance for cheaper.

      Sure, I was just talking hardware performance and I know there's other considerations to make. I'm not anti Apple and I've nearly gone down the hackintosh path myself. However I want to buy the best hardware I can so I can get the most out of it, so that usually knocks Macs of the list earlier in consideration.

    Thunderbolt Duo's have WD Green drives in them iirc, raptors != green drives.

  Looks like a ok deal. I am in the market for a new 15inch MacBook Pro …

  The 2699$ version from Megabuy costs $3199 at Apple. Making it a little more than 15% discount. (education pricing is at $2979 … and sometimes you get the usual 10% off at JB or DS) … so not a bad deal. The same model is also available from Apple for $2719 - refurbished.

  Still very expensive for a laptop - esp. the new one gets released soon. On the other side there will be most likely a price increase with the new models due to the weak AU$. (The new iPhone 5s stayed the same price in the US but got nearly 9% more expensive here (799 -> 869). So a new Macbook Pro might not be $3199 anymore but maybe close to: $3499. Makes me thinking if I should just buy this one now … 2699 is $800 cheaper! $800 for Haswell update (no more speed only battery life?, some AC WLAN, different graphics).

  Ahhh … not sure …
