Resin, an Australian based animation and visual effects company is breathing new life into a beloved children’s book with the launch of Two Left Feet. The app, based on the book by Adam Stower, is a modern day pop-up book that uses augmented reality (AR) technology to bring existing copies of the physical book to life with 3D animation and narration. For those without the book they can experience the same 3D experience with the included canvas. Two Left Feet launched on the 28th of August for iPad®, iPhone® and iPod® and is currently featured in the New and Noteworthy in the Australian iPad App Store and has been ranking no.1 during the week.
When users of the Two Left Feet app point their device’s camera at the physical book or the included canvas that users print out, the characters and scenes are brought to life using 3D animation and narration on the screen, appearing as if they are in fact performing on the pages of the book. They can move their device around to explore the animation from any angle and up close providing a true 3D experience. It also includes a 2D mode featuring the book’s original illustrations combined with narration.
