After the great response I got with the Lego Back to the Future deal (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/112412) I thought I would post this here. These were over $50 each in Australia last year and I got mine from Zavvi last year too (unfortunately the exchange rate has dropped). Basically it is like a traditional advent calendar but you get a new toy every day instead of a chocolate! And a lego toy at that. Good for kids and big kids at heart! The link above is for the city calendar, there are also Star Wars calendars (approx $45 shipped) and Lego Friends calendars (approx $37).

  Just a friendly warning to watch out if you want the box to be perfectly intact. My BttF set was squashed as it was so poorly packed by Zavvi. Respect that they gave me a partial refund as they apparently had no more stock, but the thing is utterly worthless as a collectible.

  Might give this a try. Last year I got them from the hut, but the pricks backordered the star wars calendar and still kept me waiting until basically the 1st of Dec (sitting on the order for 6 weeks), which is kind of pointless for an advent calendar. So I had to go out and buy it full retail locally. The hut didn't want to know.

  Does anyone know if the toys are randomly placed or not? Thinking of getting 1 each for my boys but kinda pointless if they are identical for each day

    There is usually a lego star wars advent calendar that comes out too, so that might be an option (Depending on how many boys you have). I am sure a deal will pop up here for it at some stage :)
