I think the base is 8.5cm. I have the 4 pie maker, and I love it.
One pastry sheet makes 2 pies (base and top).
This it's a good size because you can use bread instead of pastry and there is plenty of overlap so you cant over fill the pie that it'll squirt out when you bite into it.
I disagree, my mum has had one of these since they first came out at least 15 years ago. They're ok, but they use too much pastry, and too much pastry is not a good thing from a health perspective
Also the pies are small, so u could easily eat 4, which means to feed a family you need someone making pies while people are waiting between eating them. 4 would be better so guess unless u live alone and have no friends, or freeze them. Also by the time you eat 4 you have had 2 sheets of pastry. Compare that to if u made sausage rolls…

I dont think anyone is eating pies or sausage rolls for the health perspective, regardless of the amount of pastry involved ;)
