ive heard most of these die pretty quick.

    • Source of this rumor?
We have had 2 in our cars for about 6 months now…. 10/10.
Wondering if this is a genuine K6000 though??
Heaps of fakes with dash cams.

    • anyone else get sent the wrong unit? missing hdmi and not 1080p?

  • Seems decent. Any thoughts, reviews, sample videos ect?

    • Go to youtube

      • Well thanks captain obvious.

I figured someone may have found something better than what had found at the time.

funny - i read that as below average but usable at night and about the cheapest camera even vaguely worth a try, nothing else under $70 rating a mention as usable
Jumped when i saw $20, half teh price dashcxamtalk peeps got it for

    • +1

      Good site

  • Not a bad price for something to play with. One of those, cheap ozbargain finds for the hell of it.
I'll pay 50+ for a decent reliable one

  • You get what you pay for guys. Just don't expect too much.

Battery is 600mah, how long will that last?

    • +1

It can last at least 1.5 hours.

      • +9

and how long can the Dash Cam last? :-P

    • +1

OMG… They plug into your cigarette lighter and run off the cars 12v battery.
The inbuilt battery is so you can play with it when it is not mounted in the car.

      • +1

i sometimes have my dashcam running in my car while i go to the shops quickly to see who keeps dumping their trolley near my car }:\

        • No battery will last long, but car charger will be fine.

        • i have a different dashcam to this one; it runs a nokia bl-4c clone which is good for about 2 hours when fully charged

  • +1

when will we get something decent(day & night) @ affordable price?

  • +4

    I have one.

    Pros:
    - You have a camera in the car
    - The mount is small enough to not obstruct your view
    - It starts with the car and turns off with it
    - Quality is good enough for the price being asked (especially considering free delivery)

    Cons:
    - As others have identified, it is impossible to read number plates from moving vehicles.
    - Night vision is horrible
    - Included lithium battery must be size of a LR44 cell. It barely holds charge.

Overall it was worth every cent from the $40 I paid for it. Won't be upgrading any time soon.

Rep, what's the firmware version in your current batch?

  • +1

Hmmm looking to buy a dash cam. Very cheap, still not sure if it is any good but…

  • Who cares, at $20, its enough to tip am 'each bear own' claim your way! Potentially saving you $100's in excess fees!

I already have a $100 cam, I just bought this also (gonna shove it in the back of the car!)

    Any sample video sample?

How does the auto ignition boot capability work?

I have a Forester with "start/stop" feature, meaning the car can turn off when the break pedal is depressed and the car is stationary (for example at a red traffic light) to save fuel. I imagine many new cars will have this feature.

Would this dash cam turn off when the car entered the 'stop' state?

    • +2

Thats just your engine stopping. Unless all your dashboard lights, CD player, etc all turn off as well, you can pretty safely assume electrical power is still going to your dashcam and it won't turn off either.

    • It also runs for about a minute after you turn off the ignition.

      • Thanks, I wasn't sure from images attached whether this device was powered from cigarette lighter, or just an internal embedded battery.

In the event it ran only from an embedded battery, I was trying to understand how it knew to turn itself off - I was thinking there maybe some tricky ignition detection thing that worked on vibrations / or microphone sound of car engine etc :)

Hey Rep, Can you do a deal for a better quality cam for OZB ?
I am looking for a one with FHD, wider angle, better battery and better night vision.

I am more interested in finding a camera which can record while the car power is turned off. I had some stupid driver drove into my parking lot and hit the bumper when it was parked in a shopping centre. Most cameras would not do anything in this situation as their battery life is useless.

    • I've been using a dash camera for over two years now and have never bothered with the motion record. Mainly because the camera will take a second or two to turn itself on from standby AFTER being hit and the chances of the offending car being in the front field of view is pretty low. Also, most batteries will only last a few hours so you will have to hook it up to a power monitor so it can draw power from the car's battery and auto shutdown if it senses the car's battery getting too low.

Obviously, it's better than nothing and a lot of people use it but just sharing my thoughts on the motion detection features.

Simple option is to fit a Gel cell to the vehicle to power the camera for days making it manual on/off rather than with the vehicle,
Even simpler option is to fit one of those x,000nAh Lithium booster batteries for phones between it's charger and the unit, again for the same effect.
That way it will be always on and not constrained by the small battery.

  • Isnt transflash exactly the same as microSD card, just rebranded?

    • Other way round, micro SD is a type of transflash

  • We are updating this website, sorry for the inconvenience!

Why is every time I go in some website that be posted on ozbargain, this "We are updating this website, sorry for the inconvenience!" always be shown instead of the actual deals?

  • Get a decent micro sd card folks. None of these dash cams like garbage media.
    I recommend a cl10 Sandisk.

Personal video clip here… (some video quality is lost on youtube)

    Warning…
There are a lot of fake look alikes out there in the dash cam market. Make the effort to check that what you are buying is the genuine article.

  • After recently being in an accident when the other driver who was at fault changed his mind about what happened later I really want to get one of these for my g/f and I. I usually research stuff for weeks before coming to a decision but hoping someone here who has done the research can advise what they bought and how it worked out for them, willing to pay around $100ea.

As already mentioned, check out DashCamTalk: http://dashcamtalk.com/dash-cam-comparison/

      I am personally using a F500: http://dashcamtalk.com/dod-f500lhd/
It is around $100 which is your price point, has above average quality video and no known major issues. The only downside is the size. This was one of the best buys for a relatively cheap price a few years ago when I was first researching.

My girlfriend uses the ITB-100HD: http://dashcamtalk.com/itronics-itb-100hd/
Major selling points for this camera is GPS, high quality video and small size that fits just behind the rear view mirror. Not as highly recommended these days as the price shot up from $170 to $300 (however, can still be bought for $170 from certain places).

A new one has popped up recently, the Livue LB100: http://dashcamtalk.com/livue-lb100/
I have no experience with it, however it apparently has extremely good night video which is where most cameras fail and is pretty darn cheap for $120.

      • Thanks so much for your time keyman that is exactly the kind of info I was after, cheers! might have a serious look at the LB100, although the picture quality on the ITB-100HD is amazing, hmmm decisions

  • What's the ideal memory card size for dashcams?

    • It depends on the the memory card's quality and the kind of the vedio. Maybe 32GB is good.

  • Coupon is still accepted on the website. Just ordered one.

    • Will be accepted before this night.

  • Got mine today, very lightweight which probably means a very small battery.

    • +3

did you receive a 720p model with no hdmi too?
\they have even changed the model page - slimy bastards - what a rort

  • +3

    +1 what Mycosys says.
The listing still says 1080p in the URL and the box says FullHD 1080p.
The device has an option for FullHD but it records in widescreen VGA.

@Banggood rep, are you going to help us?

    • +2

yep, mine lacks the hdmi output (not explicitly listed in the listing but the Novatek chipset K6000 has it) and does not record 1080p.

Rep is incredibly deceitful, the sample videos they posted are not from this unit.

      vote revoked.

      • Update: After contacting Aaron from email below, I have been told to expect a refund within the next 24 hours.

If that is the case, thankyou Banggood, you have partially redeemed yourself.

I will update when/if the refund comes through.

        • I just want what I paid for :(

        • I received the refund, I'm planning on buying the genuine K6000 off another seller and using this one as a rear camera.

    • Sane issue, quality nowhere near the sample videos. Fairly certain description is different from when it was ordered.

      • +1

Dead right it is different - not that it matters since the specs are above as is a record to all changes on this page. What really sux is that on the new version of the page they even LINK TO THE VERSION WE SHOULD HAVE GOT!!! so it is pretty clear they KNOW there is an issue - why the hell didnt they contact us before now???

However just to make the proof absolute
        http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?num=20&safe=off…

Kinda handy google cache version of the page that I just saved (search cache:url) that google crawled on 16/9/13

  • Sure thing, just drop me a PM or email [email protected],including your order number, you can count on me.

    • Thats awesome of you Aaron :) Shame it wasn't the other way around tho mate. Bit lost as to why were weren't contacted as soon as people on your end knew we wouldn't be getting what we paid for?

Are you going to contact ALL the people affected by this error too? Even just the OzBargainers who got the very clear and specific specs off this ad (you can tell by the code we used after all hey)? Even just the bloody people who voted for you and commented would be a start if it is gonna take you a bit to figure out.

Bit of advice - I would jump on this QUICK - Lenovo have been hung drawn and quartered about here and nobody has lost anything but a bit of time (and some major disappointment), they even KNEW it was likely a website error when they bought - but most seem to have felt a weekend was too long to find a website error and 1 day (2 in some cases) after they found it was too long for an apology…. This is likely to go down like a tonne of bricks around here if you don't deal with it quick smart imo

      • Very deceitful, I never got any email or notice about this. Good thing I suddenly decided to refer back to this post on OzBargain and saw the new posts/comments.

Rep, you've got a PM and email from me.

  • Can confirm they are issuing refunds, but you have to email/PM them to request it. Just received my refund today. Which means they are not proactively contacting customers.

Like helenrar, I only checked back here because I found the video quality to be abysmal, and there were up to 30 second gaps between successive files. It's basically useless.
