I went into EB Games this morning at SupaCentre (Moore park) and saw a rack of PC games without their retail boxes selling for $12. They're brand new with full serial codes and instruction booklets just no box.

Personally picked up Crysis for myself, which usually retails around $69 to $99 elsewhere. Also saw a lot of other decent titles like Starcraf battle chest, pro evo soccer 5 etc. I asked the EB guys what was going on and he said that they're doing a big clearance of all the games which have missing boxes at their HQ! Hurry before all the good ones are gone. Should be in other chains as well, can someone confirm?

    He said that they're clearing them from their HQ and moore park isn't a particularly high traffic store so I'm guessing it'll be in most branches, just that you may have to hunt around for what you want.

    I thought crysis is $50 now.

    How does HQ lose the boxes? they wouldnt need to take the discs out of the boxes… I think it's more likely the boxes have been knocked off by thieves in the store.

      Its not actually 'HQ' loosing the Discs, the discs are taken out of the covers when put on the shelves, people come and steal the boxes (god know why) and/or they get misplaced/lost/damaged, the discs are sent back to Hq to hopefully match with boxes that have lost their discs, then they clearance those they cannot match when they have to many 'abused' stock in the warehouse.

    Yeah, when they have missing boxes in store, they send all the CD's back to head office. Once there's enough, a sale like this happens to clear them.

    Just called Moore Park. They said they are the more DFO style shop in the franchise and whilst others might have a few, they would mostly likely have the most.

    They said they'll also do 5 for $50.

    My local EB (2165) only had a single solitary 'Same Game, No Box' XBOX360 game :(
