Prepare thineself for the Kojima washing over you. I suggest watching a trailer first. Strap in!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EV53lnCzP1wDo people recommend this game? Cinematics look great but saw some gameplay and it looks like its alot of terrain walking lol
It's polarising. It has the usual Kojima story-related absolute BS, which is either appealing, (or not).
The gameplay mechanics are interesting (at least), so again, depends. It's a literal courier (walking) simulator, with short bits of action.
When I'm in the mood it strikes very well, otherwise it's delusional nonsense. If you like the band Low Roar you're half way to liking it already… (!)
The thing is, the terrain is the puzzle. Trying to get from A to B isn't always straightforward but you have a range of tools to get there. For some people this is great (like me). Some people will never see traversing terrain as an interesting puzzle, so the game is not for them.
The story is as everyone says, classic Kojima, I've learned from many MGS games to just sit back and let the wacky unfold, but again this might not be for everyone.
It's one of my favourite games, but I also hesitate to recommend it unless I know the kind of person I'm recommending it to.
On paper, there is nothing bad to say about it. The music, the landscape, the story, voice acting, gameplay mechanics, the exploration, the eerieness, the fidelity etc are all fantastic and I really enjoyed all of those things on their own, But as a package? I don't know if it's the way I was playing, but I didn't enjoy the pacing, and the repetitive back and forth over the same terrain, having to deal with the same hostiles in the same exact location again after dispatching them 5 minutes ago. It became predictable and tedious.
It lost me by the second chapterYou get vehicles early, never walked again, personal preference
$22.52 AUD for the Director's Cut edition off Fanatical, and cheaper at a bunch of other official stores too.
For future reference OP, buying through Steam directly is almost never the cheapest way to buy games
Even if you want to avoid grey keyshops/marketplaces like Gamivo and Eneba which inherently carry more risk (though I've had zero issues with them over the years), there's still all the authorised/official stores like GMG and Gamebillet which will also typically have better pricing than Steam themselves
I use gg.deals to find the best prices on games; it is the most comprehensive price comp site I have come across yet.
It really depends. You, yourself have posted Steam deals and some of the top deals on Ozbargain have been direct Steam deals as well. For example, the last Steam deal I posted with many votes was the Heavy Rain deal:
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/897721There is no silver bullet for which storefront provides the best deal at any point in time.
If you come across any good gaming deal, please post on Ozbargain to share with everyone. Sharing is caring!
If you come across any good deal, please post on Ozbargain to share with everyone rather than hoarding it for yourself. Sharing is caring!
… That's exactly what I'm doing? I'm saying it's cheaper to buy off Fanatical than through Steam directly. If I was 'hoarding it for myself' I would have just kept my mouth shut and everyone would be paying more by buying through Steam directly. I don't get your point. And no I'm not going to make deal post for the Fanatical listing because it isn't even a historical low.

I'm very aware, which is why I said buying through Steam directly is almost never the cheapest way to purchase games. That is why using a price comparison site like https://gg.deals/ helps, because that includes both official stores like Steam and key shops like Eneba.
That's exactly what I'm doing?
I mean post as a deal, not as a comment. Comments don't appeal on the deals screen.
The non-Director's Cut version was free on Epic which is a good place to start if you've got it. I bounced off initially, but once I got several hours in (when you've got a vehicle and roads available) the grind is a lot less and the story really hooked me.
This is going to be mandatory playing before DS2 comes out in June which looks to be another similar story-driven shrooms trip, and I am all for it
I missed it when it was $13 on either Fanatical or GMG. It was also apart of one of their platinum bundles at one point. Really enjoyed it on PS5, wouldn't mind another playthrough on PC.
I have this game on all the platforms its on lol iOS, windows, Mac OS and PS5
Still havent' finished it!!
