USB 2.0 or 3.0 OP? I can't find it mentioned anywhere on the WOW website!

      • Cool thanks!

Yeah 2, not 3, I should have said. But the Sony ones I'm comparing it to are USB 2 as well.

I don't normally worry about 2.0 vs 3.0 for a thumb drive, it's not like I'm a character in a movie yelling "come on, come on!" at the screen as the files copy across and the bad guys are running up the stairs.

Usb 2.0 16b on sale at umart for $9

      What and where is "umart"?

      • they're a computer part stockist (comparable to MSY)
given your location, the nearest one for you would be in West Ryde

linky, their website, which shows all locations: http://umart.com.au/

  • If you buy this brand, be sure to check it if you're not going to straight away. I bought one of these for hubby, who popped it in the drawer (still in packaging) and when he went to use it 3 or 4 months later it was as dead as a doornail. The docket was long gone by that stage.

    • Checking now…

      @Geewhiz

Of course reading this…as long as you haven't binned it… you now have a way of obtaining a fresh receipt for aforementioned dead USB stick ;)

Bought one for same price around February and it is one slow bugger. Don't get it if your going to transfer over 4gb files as will take a while.

    • Would they be adequate(ly speedy) to record programs to my P.O.S.
      DSE GH5930 STB?

  • I'd avoid Verbatim. Bought 16GB recently from a trusted source, supposedly USB 3.0, average write speed around 8MB/s… Thank you Verbatim, but never again, despite I still keep in high regard your old, good quality 1.44MB 3.5" FDDs…

  • This is a good price for 16GB, so I purchased one. It has similar transfer speeds [9-10 MB/s] to my other usb 2.0 sticks.

  • Bought what seems to be the exact type a while back from Kmart. Wrote at like 4MBps was pure garbage considering they use to make some high quality dvd/cd media in the past was expecting quality but as said was pure shite.

Got the 16 GB USB 2 and the 8 GB USB 3.

    Read/write results for the 16GB here. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4qIBG-HVPn9SDVzSUs5WmpPanc/…

Read write for the 8GB here https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B4qIBG-HVPn9NWpfZWxmY2pqaUE/…

Should mention both were tested straight "out of the box".

    • Thanks I got the 8Gb version.

      The sales ending today.
