The Gothic series are absolutely fantastic. Will look dated compared to Oblivion and Skyrim but fanastic games you will sink 100s of hours into for only 5 bucks!

  Thanks to you and the OP for the tip. I wouldn't normally buy this type of game but it's perfect for my 6 yo. Cheap, decent graphics, castles, dinosaurs free roaming without complex rules lots of fun :-)

    Uh.. not quite. There's a lot of adult themes in the Gothic series. I'd have a play yourself first before so you can see what I mean. It's also not a simple game by any measure.

Nice. Playing through Gothic 2 was probably one of my most enjoyable gaming experiences ever. It's fantastic even now with the dated looking graphics.

3 was a huge let down at launch and even years later due to the bugs and the way they changed the fighting so that you could essentially just button mash your way through any fight :/ Maybe after all these years it's been sorted out.

Sad to see the original developers leave but the Risen games they went on to make are also awesome, just not the same feel though as the GOthic world :)
