  • Very good deal, could have saved a lot off of the premium pack, if I wasn't so impatient.

    • +3

I'm sure we all could have but I guess I made it up with those VC specials. Just a week away from W101 though.

    • +2

Only 50$ less then my Day 1 Premium so I'm not fussed.

  • +3

Good timing for The Wonderful 101 out in one week.

  • Good price but I'm waiting on the library.

    • +6

Buy now, wait later. This is a very good price

      • +2

It is, no doubt and I know there are some good games already but I bought the 3DS early and was frustrated so much that I sold it and eighteen month on I bought another (XL) and its so much better now that there is a good library to pick bargains from. I have an XL, Wii, Vita, PS3 and Steam to keep me going for now (and a PS4 paid off)

      • +1

        wait now, buy later
        better price and library
but seriously don't know if it will get much better, the console sales are lagging (may expect a price drop, EU only 10000 sold in a week/month?)

  • +4

If you're lucky, you can get another $20 off using this deal: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/113148
It should work since you would be making one single purchase. It'll cause issues if you are purchasing more than one item though.

    • good find, ill add it to the deal

  • -4

And again 3DS users are left in the dust.

    • How's that work out?

    • +2

      I honestly don't get it…..

  • any chance it will get down to $300 by christmas?

    • +2

That'd be pure speculation I'm afraid. I think it will personally as it's selling like spare A-holes.

      • +2

I would buy a spare a-hole. That could come in really handy!

    • I think that's wishful thinking. The $AUD is dropping and probably won't be at parity again thanks to low interest rates, so any further discounting is a remote possibility.

Having said that the Wii U is still not selling and it's likely not even being manufactured at present. There might be a "firesale" coming up :P

        • source?

        • Nope.

        • Wii U/PS4/Xbox One are all 8th generation consoles: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_video_game_consoles_(eighth_generation)

    • There isn't really a big price difference between $300 and $321. Only $1 difference if this works! :P

  • +1

    Premium sold out. :c

    • Yep, was just about to buy as well :(

    • That totally sucks… there's no point getting the white one. :(

      • You could get the Basic pack and hope that Nintendo allows Wii U to Wii U system transfer down the track when you upgrade to premium.

      • +1

The only real difference is the storage size, the colour and a few less accessories. Still not a bad price, if you have an external HDD lying around.

    • .

    • +1

Buy a basic, 2nd hand wii for wii junk (40 at cash converters) and a 300GB portal HDD (50 MSY).. only a few dollars more for same junk plus more space.

      • That's just stupid. The WiiU is a major improvement on the Wii/NGC.

        • +2

I think he means for the extra junk to add to the Wii U Basic…

          Eg the sensor bar

But you could probably just get 3rd party ones for cheap anyway, like the cradle and wii sensor bar, and all you forego then is the nintendo land game

I'd assume most people on Ozbargain would have plenty of external hard drives lying around so that wouldn't even be a cost, even then as nephilim pointed out, 300 gigs is pretty cheap.

        • +2

Apologies, my mistake, I misunderstood his meaning cheers.

      • The Wii U gamepad has a sensor bar inbuilt but you could get a third party version for under 6 buck on ebay. Agreed on the hard drive from MSY to upgrade your storage space.

  • its not sold out for me?

    • Mine isn't on the website either, but I can't find the black one on their app anywhere… so maybe they disabled it on their mobile application?

  • +2

Been waiting for this since Dick Smith NZ sold them out for cheap, but this… doesn't quite do it for me. It wouldn't surprise me if one of the big retailers does a proper stock liquidation and gets it down into the one-hundred-and-somethings before the end of the year, and I could never forgive myself for getting in early.

  • +4

So NZ get the Premium for $200NZD :/ we get it for $321 ! meh.
Even I would buy a Wii U premium for $200 NZD.

(I'm referring to the bargain about 4 weeks back)

    • Dick Smith NZ had them for $200? How did I miss that. Was shipping to Australia anythign decent?

      • They wouldn't ship abroad, it was in-store only.

        • Dang, no wonder I did not hear anything about it.

  • +1

I have been sitting on the fence waiting to get one for ages. I missed the last few deals on the consoles.

I only hesitate because I want a limited edition Wii U Zelda bundle… if it happens..

ALSO, the website is pretty much empty on anything gaming wise. Maybe Dick Smith is finally liquidating everything that remains. If so I better grab a cheap Wii U while I can.

    • +1

I'm in the same situation - but I'm also seeing NOT buying one as effectively discount on a PS4 which is tempting me right now.

  • They've also got ZombiU at $38, cheaper than OzGameshop and only a little bit more than zavvi/the hut and ebay.

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/nintendo-wii-u/zombi-u-wii-u-dsa…

Get a basic pack with this and use a spare HDD/USB. Who needs premium!

  • to anyone that's recently bought one, does the wii u still require the day 1 patch?

    • I purchased one last week, took 90 minutes to download the patch over my cable internet connection (using Wi-Fi), so I presume so.

  • +1

Bought one today, price wasn't advertised in store but came up at $261 at the register!

Bought a sensor bar for $7 from KMart and will just use an external that's been lying around :D

  • Bought a Basic last night (looks to be out of stock now). $241 (with app discount) was too good a deal to pass up - as it puts it in line with similarly powered current-gen consoles. I'll buy Pikmin 3 and a cheap secondhand copy of Nintendo Land to tide me over until… Zelda.

    • +1

My only interests are Zelda, Mario Kart and Monster Hunter 4 so I can wait.

  • Bought a premium pack at Norwood this arvo, last one left but they did have a basic pack there.
Also picked up New Super Mario from JB, they price matched DSE's $52.50

  • Arrived this morning. Now awaiting a game to go with it!

    • My order has been sitting as "Awaiting Fulfillment" since Monday morning; Don't think it'll arrive anytime soon.

    • +1

Did you nab some from this deal johnno07?
      http://www.mightyape.com.au/daily-deals/slot/12893

      • I didn't, Goldberg! As I own a PS3, 360 and soon an XOne, I don't see any point in owning multiplatform games on my new Wii U. It will be an exclusives only console for me. You could say it will be… exclusively exclusive. I picked up Nintendo Land for about $30 like new/unsealed off eBay and I have Pikmin 3 on it's way from Ozgameshop.

  • Selling my Wii U with Zombie U and funky Barn if anyone is interested.

  • -2

Wii U is a failed product. Its going to be cheaper.

Wii > Wii U, and heaps cheaper, able to mod/hack. Do so many things possible that Wii U cannot. Game titles are also disappointing. No innovations we don't want HD versions of rehashed titles.

    • I disagree. I have a Wii and it was/is 97% gimmick. There were some gems on there yes but so much shovelware and forced motion control it was tedious. The WiiU is a step in the direction of the more serious gamer, it has a proper network (not the crap that the Wii/3DS has) and is finally getting serious games as well as the family friendly stuff.
Also if you value a product on whether or not you can steal games for it or not then I guess that's your problem.

      • Not at all. If you think that when I say mod/hack is to steal games then you are wrong. If you use the Homebrew Browser there are plenty of other emulators which you can run your SNES games. I own plenty of SNES games and can run those. I can even run Google Maps on it, play Wii physics etc So many cool things you have once you got HBC. I can then watch DVD with it, Backup and transfer my Miis on SDCard.

Serious games I have a PS3, PC for. Wii is family orientated. Wii U doesn't have a good library for casual games any more, and is expensive. Graphics improvement not so much. Not interested one bit.

You wonder why Wii U sells less than Wii 7 years old machine in the same period, read these…These are facts.

You guys are the minority. Look at the majority.

        http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2013-07/31/wii-u-poor-sa…

        http://metro.co.uk/2013/07/31/games-inbox-wii-u-failure-ps-v…

If that's what you guys value in a product which has not even gain momentum, that's your issue. It's your money after all.

If I was to buy Wii U, I would wait until its cheaper and cheaper less than $200 or $150 before I would even consider it. And by that time, there might be more titles. Or perhaps something else would come up and taken over Wii U, and I won't even consider it any more. Wii U is a failure from Nintendo

When I say lack of innovation, is there's no new titles but rehashes. Wii brough in so many new ones, super mario galaxy, kart etc

        • I haven't bought a WiiU, I recognise that it is selling crap and am waiting for the heavy price drop and killer games like what happened with the 3DS.

Not sure how you can write off the WiiU after 9 months? As for the casual library, again the library is only 9 months old, it's a bit early to make those calls. Nintendo are bringing in the big names over the next 5 or 6 months with new Zelda, Mario Kart, Mario World, Donkey Kong, Smash Bros etc. I have a feeling with a price drop and some big titles arriving the WiiU will sell well this Xmas, you can't write off Nintendo, they haven't been around this long due to luck.

    • we don't want HD versions of rehashed titles.

yes we do, mario and zelda in HD :)
