  • good find

  • Is the price $19 + shipping, or $19 delivered?

    • $19 not including shipping, if I'm not mistaken.

  • How is this router? Worth the money?

FasTrack technology detects Internet favorites like Netflix and YouTube and automatically prioritizes them for smooth HD streaming.

So what about "other" streaming websites? :P

  • +1

Looks like its the lowest end of the "family" of my net routers. Ordered one, but thinking otherwise, really need a device with stronger wifi.

  • This "dual band" is 300m+300m
If you are using a 450m adapter, it can only work on 300m
Maybe the other band is just for YouTube steaming

  • Prioritise YouTube? Why?! it's not even slightly latency dependant.

I'm still trying to find a way to de-prioritise YouTube so that I don't get horrible latency when people start opening tabs of YouTube to watch.

Very easy to do, go onto your router settings through the browser, go onto QOS and turn off the Youtube one.

  • MSY had the WD MyNet n900 for $29 a couple months ago.

    • N750 for $29, then another sale for $39. N900 is quite expensive, and holds internal HDD.

  • anyone knows how is the performance of this router? e.g. comparing to D-link 825?

  • Does this only have one Ethernet port? Can it be used to connect to our Wifi-Modem for Xbox/TiVo Internet connection? (Can't remember what you call those sort of devices) I know this is probably overkill but for the price … probably cheaper than the basic wifi-connecting-Ethernet-providing device.

      • Thank you BCTransit (I went to the product site but only saw "Fast Internet").

Now the question is can I make this work as an adapter (i.e. to connect Ethernet devices to a WiFi LAN) rather than the other way around?

I would appreciate anyone who could advise me on this, so I can pick one up asap.

        Cheers,
        Ashley.

        • sure you can, most of the routers with LAN/WAN ports can do that, just disable the DHCP in this router then using it as switch and AP

        • I checked on the Web and it said it worked as an "access point" so I bought it. Unfortunately, it's only a wired access point (i.e. connect it to Ethernet and you have another wifi access point). It's not able to do Ethernet to wifi bridge :-( Please don't tell my wife :-)

  • +1

Any idea this can be use as a wireless bridge?

    • No, I bought it and it cannot be used as a wireless bridge. It can be used as a wired access point but not a wireless bridge.

  • Sorry for this personal problem, will be happy if someone could help.

I got a intermittent, dropout signal connection problem from the other room, where sometimes there are no signal at all in my bedroom.

I am using TPG ADSL2+, Modem is Billion 7401 VGP, although I have now also used an additional TimeCapsule/AirportExtreme 802.11n connected to the modem via ethernet cable as the WiFi AP too!

However the problem is still persist.

If I am buying this product, will this product better or at least the same performance as my TimeCapsule (I will sell my TC if this $19 performs the same one!) Should I use this product to replace the Billion Modem? or the TimeCapsule?

So far I can not identify the root cause of the problem, whether it TPG issue, my modem issue, or… my bedroom is too far away (approx. 15m from modem but there is 2 walls) from the modem.

Anyone can help me to identify the problem and the solution please? Thanks

    • Try changing the channel it's using. Try every channel. I've found that can sometimes make all the difference in the world.

The other suggestion is to make sure to keep the modem/router away from other electronic devices likes wireless telephones, etc.

      Cheers & good luck!

      • Thanks. I have tried changing the frequency too.

    • I have same problem, sometime my modem just stop sending WIFI signal for 1~2 min. and although it has two antenna, WIFI signal is very poor when I go upstairs.

Before I used another brand modem only with a seperate wireless router, its WIFI signal never disconnected. So I blame on Billion, I bought it only because it's recommend by TPG to watch their free IPTV, turns out that now I rarely watch it. what a waste :-(

      • This is exactly what I am experiencing. Stop sending WiFi signals. Even sometimes my device in the same room with the modem still got the same issue!

Is this mainly Billion problem? I had used D-Link modem previously before moving to Billion, and got the same problem too.

A friend recommended to use a pair of wifi extender over power switch too. Is this much better and solve my problem than replacing my Billion modem or TimeCapsule AP?

I have one of these which I bought for COTD for about $40. I use it as a range extender for my cable modem. It is quite all right for the price. To best of my knowledge it cant used as a wireless bridge. It needs to be connected to a interet modem via ethernet. It does a better job of transmittung wireless than the Netgear Cable Modem

    • The Netgear cable modem from Telstra (CG3100) is the biggest POS. I had to get a Linksys wireless router for a stronger/stable home wifi.

  • Is it DD-WRT compliant?

    • No.

  • Bought one on my lunch break, can't wait to see if it's good :)

  • GAaAAaa!!! My only gripe: 10/100LAN!! .. that to me just sounds like the "theoretical" 300Mbp WLAN speed will never be realized if the hard-wired speed can only reach 100Mbps… You'd think GigaLan is pretty much standard these days… I'm looking for a 6 Port Gigabit LAN + 802.11n dual band WLAN router.. if anyone sees one pls post it up! Thanks anyhow OP.. good bargain at $19 anyhow.

    • I have the N750, and Lenovo laptop with dual band WIFI. Maxes out at about 5MB/s. I am about 10m from the router.

  • i put in my order on msy. am i suppose to get an email back from them to tell me when to pick up or is the system dodgy like that.

i remember mobiciti i never got an email back wtf.

    • Bought the WD range extender a couple of days ago. Put the order through the web - no email back. Called the store (Ultimo) and yep they received the order and even quoted me an order number which I successfully used to pick it up. Long way of saying - system IS dodgy - just give them a call to confirm.

      • thanks. i called them and NO ONE PICKED UP THE PHONE.

i'll give them another call today.

  • I have wired a single port in my TV room from a Giga Port Wireless Switch hosted in another room and just keen on having WD N600 configured to my Unblock-Us DNS so that it serves apps like Netflix, Pandora, ABC, Hulu Plus etc while the other Giga Wireless Switch can cater to unlimited local traffic..i.e. Foxtel, iView etc.

Do you think it will work this way?
