Remember "best before" (unlike "use by") is a rough guideline for guaranteed food quality:

Provided you store your 5.5 litres of ice magic properly there's no reason you can't enjoy discount ice cream topping for the next 7 years :)

Provided you store your 5.5 litres of ice magic properly

This stuff goes hard quickly and need to put it in the microwave every time before use.

I find the Woolies branded ones much better…

Might depend where you live jv. In Sydney cold our ice magic was set before we got home. Up here in brisvegas the problem becomes pouring it before the ice cream melts :)

          "Sydney cold"

          Ha.

I thought he was in Melbourne, but then realised if he couldn't pour it in the morning, he would be able to in the afternoon and vice versa.

        first imformative comment from JV!

Sugar mixed with sugar and sweetener.
I doubt if would ever go off.
      Good find OP.

        It's actually mostly oil.

Its much more then just a guarantee though.

The majority of food will taste worse close to the best before, and can get quite unpleasant past the best before date.

You can still eat it, and it will probably taste ok if you didn't have a fresh one next to you… but I still don't think buying products close to the best before is worth it in most circumstances.

Awww. What am I going to do with 400 Hairy Lemon tablets now?

        • ebay them (and let me know).
I was too cheap to pay the postage, and really kicking myself now :(

    • oh I never knew, thnx!

  • I'm just curious how much cocoa butter is in this confection if at all. Could somebody could post the list of ingredients? Given that they call it White Choc, there may be no requirement that it contain any cocoa and it may contain hydrogenated fats. It's because white chocolate doesn't contain cocoa solids that I find it yucky and boycott the white chocolate balls in Lindor mixes.

vegetable oils (protected with antioxidant 319), sugar, skim milk powder, whey pwoder, emulsifier 471, flavours, traces of wheat, oats, soy, sesame, tree nuts & peanuts.

      • Thanks, thought as much, no cocoa butter. So Cottees isn't advertising it as chocolate but Coles is, mistakenly.

        • I wouldn't be eating white choc for cocoa anyway. It doesn't make sense. If you want cocoa buy green and blacks organic 85% (although now owned by cadbury same recipe)

        • Edit: removed

    • +3

0% because stuff with no cocoa inside tends to say 'chocolate flavour' syrup instead of 'chocolate' syrup.

that said, who cares..going to buy tonnes and swim in it and get girls to eat me out of my own carbonite trap :P

      • Don't get trapped in it on a cold day or you'll need a really hot babe to melt you out. :)

    • I'm confused why you find white chocolate yucky because it doesn't have cocoa solids in it? Just because it's not chocolate doesn't make it not tasty! To each their own anyway.

      • +1

White chocolate is chocolate but I like the taste of cocoa solids as I said. I'm masochistic enough to enjoy 85% now and then. Also white chocolate reminds me, not in a good way, of condensed milk. Don't let me put you off eating white chocolate. Less competition for the dark. :)

        • +1

Pretty right about the condensed milk. Fortunately condensed milk is delicious! I also enjoy 85% goes great with whiskey :)

        • Good, we should be able to share a bag of chocolate affably then. :)

        • Less competition for the dark. :)
          Is that reverse racism?

        • I'm a black lover. :)

  • Will other coles price match this if identical item and beat by 5%?

  • +3

Milo on ice cream is good too.

    • +2

Hell yes! I remember you could get a Agro (that puppet character) ice cream cone from Wendy's that was dipped in milo!

    • OH that reminds me of when I was a kid - I used to put SUGAR on top of my ice cream. I was such a sugar fiend… now I'm more savoury :D :D

  • You have to ask yourself, can you eat a whole bottle of this in one day?

    • +2

True ozbargainers never ask questions like that ;)

  • My local! This is even worth ducking in for on the way home.

    • Bought 3 bottles. Stacks of stock left :)

  • This one must be excess, obsolete or slow moving.
