Hmmmm. AndyDude, you need to put a link in the text at the very least…
    Something like this: http://www.xpmicro.com.au/cgi-bin/xpmicro/BUNDLE11.html
Also, please always include shipping charges: "Starand Freight Charge to Australia-wide $ 14.95 by Australia Parcel Post".
Also, also, the web page description doesn't state which model 1TB WD drive this is.
Also, also, also, if you are a trader, please declare this clearly at the outset.

  • Have to agree with tea on this one.
Shipping charge is IMPORTANT especially for me in VIC as most cheap HDD's come from NSW, QLD, or WA.
On staticice, IT Sky have a WDG-HDD-13822- WESTERN DIGITAL WD10EAVS 1TB/7200RPM/SATAII/3.5".8MB WESTERN DIGITAL for $139.95.
    http://www.itsky.com.au/catalog/partdetail.aspx?partno=WDG-H…

    So similar price.
grumbles now I'm specualting about what HDD xpmicro are selling.

    • Hmm, I would assume that these are WD10EAVS drives with 8MB cache, which if they are would make the price fairly average. Still quite cheap for a 1TB price, but nothing too special compared to other retailers.

  • Only 8MB cache?~

  • Local MSY store have it for $155. I guess the benefit of the sale mentioned is that it is online, delivered for less than this price. Still, nothing worth mentioning IMHO.

  • Until a confirmation on drive can be made, I'm reserving judgement on the value of this deal.

Anyone in NSW care to call them?

    GreenGuava perhaps.
    Please, mate.
    Thank you in advance :-)

Okay, because you said please, I took one for the team and just gave them a ring, but the response I got was less than encouraging.

Basically I asked for the model number of the WD drive that is featured in this 'bargain'. Strangely the guy replied 'We don't know'. I repeated the question and pushed further, but the guy (lamely) explains that the HDDs are all in boxes and they haven't opened them so he can't tell what model they are.

At this point I'm sure he's telling fibs because firstly, what retailer WOULDN'T know what stock they were selling and secondly, pretty much all OEM HDDs come in clear anti-static plastic cases from which the model number can easily been seen through.

Anyways, I asked the guy if he could pass me on to someone who might know what model they are selling. He finally comes out and says that his boss has said that they are only to say that it is a 1TB WD GreenPower model and to 'not mention any model numbers'. He goes on to say that if you want the 32MB cache model (WD10EADS) then the price is $176 (as per their price list), but other than that you may get an 8MB or 16MB model with this 'deal'.

So in summary, even though the guy did mention it being 'either an 8MB or 16MB cahce model', given that XPMicro were not prepared to be upfront with an exact model number, I would strongly assume that they are selling the WD10EAVS (8MB) model.

      • Wow that's a little dodgey :/

      • eh, I wouldnt want to do business with a store like that.

    Loolololol

I just bought a 1tb WD10EADS from them a week ago. They say on their website that they pricematch, so i got a few websites from staticice (who had stock), took it to them, and got laughed at. They guy had a big whinge about "we buy at wholesale price" etc, other online stores are frauds, etc. Totally forgetting about the price match…

Anyway, you can take my word for it that its not WD10EADS. Its the 8ms. The guy (who runs the store) is a big cheapo who wouldn't sell WD10EADS for 139.

    • Agreed, it's definitely not the 32MB cache model (WD10EADS) as per my post above.

  • A -ve from me for all the above reasons…

  • I got stock is 32M 1TB HDD , WD10EADS . Why you say they don't know . I buy from the shop , he give me is 32M one .

If you actually did get a WD10EADS for $139.00 as per this deal then you definitely got a bargain. I only posted that they "don't know" because that's exactly what the guy said to me when I asked him what model HDD they were selling in relation to this deal. In any case, the point is moot now because the deal expired three days ago.

Anyways, I do find it a bit of a coincidence that you signed to OzBargain yesterday to up to post a deal by XPMICRO for an Acer netbook (which going by the comments posted so far isn't that great a deal anyway) and then also posting a comment in this deal about receiving a WD10EADS (not to mentioned the fact that you voted positively for this deal after it had expired).

If you're absolutely fair dinkum then fair enough, but if you're in any way related to XPMICRO then you should make it clearly known. Any good retailer would know that most potential customers don't really appreciate being played for the fool, especially through misinformation!
