4x AA GP Recyko NiMH LSD Batteries - $6.25 @ BIC

440
5TH9OFF

http://www.buyincoins.com/item/18575.html

Code: “5TH9OFF” for 9% off

I own the same batteries (bought somewhere else) and consider them to be on par with eneloop so far with my experience in the last 6 months or so since I have owned them.

I paid $14 for mine and consider this a very good price.

The code said its valid until the 1st so it may be working for the next whole day or so. But even without the code these batteries are a steal at this price.

  • Sweet good batteries, Got two sets.

    • Got two sets too.

These still aren't as good as Eneloop, but for the average Joe you probably won't notice the difference. I think the difference will show over a few years though so most won't notice this for a long time. Their low-self-discharge won't be as good as Eneloop but that's also unlikely to bother many.

For the price, can't go wrong really.

    got one here too.

for the price it's a very nice set of spares.

'Recyko' is the name of GP's LSD range.
They lose about 5% more charge in storage for a year than do Eneloops, but start out at with a slightly higher capacity. Almost a capacity dead-heat after a year.
Very slightly higher internal resistance relative to Eneloops, and very slightly lower voltage with current being drawn as a result. Very good batteries. Absolute bargain at this price.

  • Do they sell a recharger device thingo that recharges the batteries?

    • A cheap "smart" charger - Soshine SC-C3 Intelligent Rapid Charger

      http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?189380-So…

      • I had the sams warehouse/highlander version of this charger and after about a year, 2 of the slots no longer charged. Seemed ok up until it died.

      • Unless you really need a fast-ish charger, that model also charges at a bit too high of a rate with just 1 or 2 batteries installed. At least it has independent charge channels.

I bought a little Soshine SC-C5 off Ebay for $15 a while ago. I remember seeing it on bic too, but if they still sell it their search engine (and Google) aren't helping at the moment. DX have it if you want to chance a long wait to get it. Faster from Ebay.
Independent charge channels, delta -v cutoff, not too high a charge rate, and runs off usb or a 12v input. You can use a decent plugpack you already own or use the supplied car cable.

Buyincoins sell the Nightcore i2 and i4 chargers. They're fine for lithiums, but I've seen some reviews that point to considerable slot-to-slot inconsistencies with Ni-mH charging. Problem fixed at this point? No idea.

  • anyone bought these from BIC, and confirmed these are legit?

    • they should be ok, I wouldn't touch any BTY batteries.
One thing I notice with BIC is that they fake a lot of their reviews, when you read some of them don't make sense or just repeat from other products.

      • could they be faking the reviews to say it's genuine when it's not?

    • Well based on the packaging i would say fake

      http://www.amazon.com/Rechargeable-Batteries-800MAH-GP-Pre-C…

      • Based solely on the packaging (or rather, lack thereof), you'd be wrong.
The online China stores all do deals with manufacturers - on thousands of different items - which are then sold without regular retail packaging.
Manufacturers of bubblewrap do particularly well in China.

  • Pardon the newbie question, but do these need a specfic charger or any generic Ni-MH charger work?

Also, does anyone know if these are better than the Aldi ones?

    • Any NiMH will work. Better than the ones you find at the Aldi checkouts? Absolutely. And they're cheaper too.

      • Thanks. Will get a few.

      • providing these are real, fingers crossed!

i got a tablet from these guys no problems, but i have got fake batteries from dx before (same kind of shop).

        • My only Eneloops are from DX years ago, and still not sure if they are fake or not. They are definitely LSDs, but since the primary application is just remotes and wireless keyboards and mice, difficult to say whether they are genuine or not..

  • Thanks, just got 8x AAs and 8xAAAs for $18.28 USD. LSDs are perfect for remotes and keyboards where I tend to use them the most. I probably only charge them once - twice a year at most.

I'm sure many ozbargainers love batteries deals because my post for 9% off on entire buyincoin site only receives 20+ votes so far.

Ps. when the 9% off voucher is expired, you can always use DISCOUNTER to get additional 5% off on your entired order. So effectively, you save $0.25 for this item using the 9% code.

  • finally got mine in the mail today. They're a lot heavier than I was expecting.

    • Got mine too. The wrapping on the outside was completely badly stuck on. Not sure if they are real or not.

      • +1

I did some tests on them, they seem legit.

        • I received three packs of AAA and a pack of the AA GP's today. I'll get around to cycling these BIC ones through the Maha at some point, but your results are as hoped, ezarc.
I'm guessing that you're using a La Crosse? If not, then they do indeed have a little more juice than current Eneloops.

Overall, these plain-wrapped BIC ones may turn out to be cells that tested slightly below par in-factory - just like Eneloops that end up getting the glitter wrap. (I've been too frightened to post that revelation in any of OzBargain's frenzied glitter threads!)

Anyway, regardless, these BIC GP's - especially the AAA ones - will turn out to be particularly good value for money.

        • I used my MAHA C9000.

  • La Crosse discharge figures always tend to run high, for anybody wondering why I posed the question.

Just did a Refresh cycle of 4 AAAs in the La Crosse BC700:

    Cell 1: 1036 mAh
    Cell 2: 982 mAh
    Cell 3: 752 mAh
    Cell 4: 760 mAh

The first 2 cells exceed the quoted capacity of 820 mAh. I also weighed the batteries. Interesting is that cell 1 weighs 14g, while the other three cells are 12g each. The build quality is not that good as the outer covering of the battery can be easily peeled off.

Overall, they are good, much affordable LSDs compared to Sanyo Eneloops.

    • Yes, big savings compared to the AAA Eneloops.
It might be charger related, but that degree of capacity variation is high - not to mention the weight difference!
Please post after you run a few more cycles, and don't forget to swap them around in the charger slots - just in case.

Having bought three sets of the AAA's, it does look like that in-use, matching up capacities might need to be the go.

      • Cell 1 is unusual - it weighs 2g more than the others. Agreed that the variation in capacity is too big. I'll do a Refresh cycle this weekend and post back.

  • Just finished a second refresh cycle. Numbers are in the second column compared to those done on 2 Sept

    Cell 1: 1036 mah Cell 4: 1043 mah
    Cell 2: 982 mah Cell 2: 1046 mah
    Cell 3: 752 mah Cell 1: 743 mah
    Cell 4: 760 mah Cell 3: 746 mah

Notable difference for battery no 2. Unfortunately I put it in the same cell.

    • Yep, definitely a weird contrast in capacities. At least you know which batteries to use together!
