Grays Outlet $20 voucher order failed

So my troubles started here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/111644

This was my email to them

I want a refund because the voucher REGOACT290711 was successfully applied but by the time i submitted the purchase I was charged full amount.

I got a reply from Grays today

Hello _______,

Thank you for contacting Grays Customer Service.

I can confirm that I have looked into your enquiry however the voucher code you tried to use “REGOACT290711” has a specific quota that has been reached.

Based on the information I found, unfortunately the voucher has now been used in full.

I understand that you didn’t use it but other people took the opportunity quickly and it is now expired based on the quota being met.

My apologies I couldn’t assist you further with your enquiry.

If you require further information please contact our Customer Service Help Centre on 1300 36 25 36 or email [email protected]

From the looks of it the CSA won't give a refund but I'll keep on trying

So ozbargains, next time you purchase from grays make sure you take a full screenshot of the prices etc.
Unfortunately for me I only have partial screenshots of the page (Mac user)

I don't think there is much I can do.
Would the ACCC take on the case if I failed to get a refund?

UPDATE: Problem solved. Grays will give $20 back when the paypal dispute is closed.

Do you really want to deal with ACCC over $20? You could just refuse the parcel, and then either Paypal claim or reverse the payment via your credit card bank.

  • Could you see that the discount was not being applied to your purchase before you hit the final confirm button?

  • Of course $20 is still money.

Grays IT department said that the voucher was applied but it was invalid by the time I confirmed the order.

Grays offered to give back $20

I am confused….so Grays told you they will refund the $20 overpayment(due to voucher code not being applied), then problem solved?

      • I agree, if Grays offered to give back $20 why are you complaining?

        • Yes, problem solved. Grays offered $20 back, not store credit etc like what people have gotten on other forums

That's good, no need to make a complaint to fair trading :)

ACCC will never 'take on the case' for an individual. They'll log your complaint in their system, and pursue action if its in the public interest to do so (ie its a serious enough issue to justify spending taxpayer funds to investigate and/or undertake enforcement actions).

Your state fair trading organisation will be more hands on in that they can give you advice (which they caveat as not being legal advice) they'll try to negotiate with the seller in some circumstances. Since you don't have proof, I don't think they'll do much in this situation.

    • I have screenshots (partial ones on the webpage)
