Here you go. Some fun facts from "The Final Hours of Tomb Raider" by Geoff Keighley:
The Tomb Raider reboot started life as TOMB RAIDER: ASCENSION.
It was originally conceived as a horror experience like SILENT HILL and RESIDENT EVIL.
In early design work, Lara was to be teamed with a six-year-old girl named Izumi.
Later, the "Izumi" concept was replaced with a monkey.
The Crystal Dynamics team obtained a Sumatran black spider monkey for motion capture tests, which they named "Curious George".
The monkey got loose one night and savagely bit creative director Noah Hughes (left knee, rear).
This afflicted Hughes with a fungal infection that put him in Intensive Care for seven weeks — six of those in an induced medical coma!
When doctors finally woke Hughes, he immediately described having a vision of how to reboot Tomb Raider in a way that would please fans and revolutionize the game industry.
Hughes discharged himself and traveled directly to the Crystal Dynamics offices to discuss his new concept with co-director Daniel Neuburger.
Neuburger wasn't working late that night — in fact nobody was. But there was a light on in the production offices and Hughes could see a figure sitting at Neuburger's desk — which naturally enough he assumed to be Nueburger after hearing the faint clatter of fingers on a keyboard.
But when Hughes entered the room, he saw it wasn't Neuburger hunched over the computer. It was Curious George. For a moment the two regarded each other in stunned silence. Hughes had a moment to register the monkey's stubby left paw resting on the keyboard, its furry right paw cupped over the mouse. What the devil was going on here? This… ape… this damn dirty ape was hacking their network! No, that's ridiculous, Hughes told himself. Not just ridiculous but impossible! Monkeys don't… they can't… Instinctively Hughes tilted his head to get a good angle on the computer screen. He had to know what this demon monkey was up to. And, with a tiny gasp, he saw! Before his mind could comprehend the awful magnitude of Curious George's mission, the accursed monkey sprang from the chair right at Hughes's throat — a fuzzy black tornado of gnashing teeth and whiplashing claws. Hughes managed a single startled step back before George slammed into his chest — UNMMMPHHH! — knocking the wind from his lungs….
Camilla Luddington, Lara's new voice and mo-cap actor, thought she was auditioning for a project called "Cryptids" and the role of "Sarah."
