      Which has since been resolved.

      • +23

But look how much it took for him to get it resolved, not to mention having to put up the absurd claims by CPL that he damaged it himself, before it was resolved.

Sure it's a "Deal" from a strictly price perspective if everything goes well. If not there's a chance it is going to cost you a lot more in time, money and frustration with this Mob.

        • Honestly, maybe they were like that before, but let's see how they act now. I'm pretty sure they will tend to customer issues more efficiently from now on.

    • +14

Dear TimTech, please see our response on that day in the same post. I quoted here anyway. Thank you for your involvement.

"To the concerned buyers. There has been a lot said about the alleged situation with a customer’s machine from last week’s OzBargain special. We apologize for what may seem to be a slow response.

We have gone over our records and since we have started posting on OzBargain we have shipped out close to 400 systems via AusPost and Fastway couriers around the country with another 350 in pick-up in- store purchases.

We beseech anyone who has had a similar experience to speak up as we believe that not a single incidence of this has happened. Our products are built, checked by the technician and cross-checked by 2 separate warehouse personnel before being packed and shipped.

We are somewhat skeptical as to the lack of damage to the box in this case given the severe damage internally. As admitted and highlighted in the forum posts, the box seems to be in good condition which does beg the question of how the damage has occurred if not in transit.

Lastly we would like to stress that while we are certain that we shipped these goods in a good condition we, as a gesture of good will, would like the affected customer to ship back the unit. We will rebuild a brand new unit and ship it to him at our cost.

Just now, we have received dozens of orders for this bargain and we thank everyone for their continued support."

        I beseech ye!

        • +1

beseech is the word that comes up in the translator.

      • i applaud your sincerity

      • -1

I would suggest not dealing with lucksmith again - butterfingers get expensive when your margins are already so low…

Are you reselling the damaged PC?

    • +3

Just to be clear, as a gesture of good will, CPL has agreed to either replace my system or give me a refund. CPL has also arranged the shipping of the item back at their own cost. The parcel was picked up today by Fairway couriers and should be arriving at CPL's Notting Hill branch soon. I have opted for the refund and have notified CPL of this already. How quickly the funds would be transferred back into my own account, I do not know, but I have asked CPL about this and am just waiting for their reply.

CPL may have been skeptical of my request for a refund at first, but they had every right to do so. However, with sound reasoning, I was able to convince CPL that the damage was not of my own doing. CPL has since been cooperative and provided me good customer service. Perhaps CPL should have worded things better here on OzBargain, but I would say that this may have been due to the amount of stress that they were under at the time.

I feel no ill will towards CPL as they have still agreed to provide me with what I want, even despite their reluctance initially. Hopefully this incident would've provided CPL the valuable experience to deal with similar situations that should arise in the future, and that they continue to provide deals to an appreciative OzBargain community.

    Great price

  • +1

More like a budget/middle range gaming system considering it will struggle to play most AAA titles on highest setting at a decent frame rate.

    • I'm sure you could email them for a GPU upgrade. I doubt you could assemble a better gaming PC for the given price. If I were a gaming PC, this would be quite tempting for me..

      • +26

Why would a gaming PC require another gaming PC?

        • +3

Haha, should've read back what I typed ;) Should have read "If I were in need of a gaming PC"

        • +13

To make little baby mini-ITX gaming PCs?

        • +2

For some reason this actually made me laugh for a while. Thanks.

      • Yes no doubt, just pointing out for anyone who isn't aware. The mish-mash of GPU model #'s is a minefield (as I recently found out after getting into Steam)

    • I agree beakeroo, for this to be considered a "Premium" gaming system it should at the very least have a Z87 motherboard, not a H87.

  • +17

Haha, what rivalry, it's $100 less than BudgetPC's EXACT SAME build (albeit different RAM brand) from a few days ago: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/111154

    • i was gonna say it but you beat me to it haha

it looks SO SIMILAR to the deal a few days ago! lucky i didnt decide to buy that one yet…. :P

EDIT: but you did have upgrade options on the other site, rather than being stuck with a premade one here

    • Similar but this ones got a 3.2GHz CPU and BudgetPC's is a 3.6GHz

      • They are the same. Both are i5 4570 which are 3.2 Ghz base and turbo up to 3.6 Ghz

        • Oh ok. How does that work? Do u need special software/do something to get it up to 3.6Ghz?

        • +1

No, so basically it runs at 3.2 Ghz but turbos up to 3.6 GHz automatically if the computer is under stress and needs the extra 'power'

        • Oh ok thanks, but it cant probably keep that up for too long would cause overheating issues etc??

        • Unless you are running quite a few asset heavy programs simultaneously then you shouldn't have any issues whatsoever.

        • Oh awesome, thanks for that :)

        • no. When ur using all the cores it uses the base frequency. When you use 2 it can run faster.

What current gen game would get bottlenecked by an i5? That's right, none.

      • Honestly, I haven't heard of any GPU (dual Titans or whatever is hardcorest these days) running a game significantly faster on an i7 over an i3.

If anyone can point to a benchmark showing it, I'd be interested,

      • +1

Invidius…I was having a joke.. But if you wanna be serious about things then the CPU is not normally a bottleneck for a gaming machine..

      • No game on the market uses more than 4 cores to run so an i5 is perfect for a gaming rig.

    • What would you suggest to be better? i7's only add hyperthreading, which gives no gain in power but makes the cores a tiny bit easier to utilise - this basically has zero effect on games. You could get the unlocked 4670k but that would do little for power gains as the GPU would be the bottleneck. Moving to some s2011 setup with 6 cores would be similarly ineffective and ludicrously expensive.

    • +12

Sure. We always very keen to sort any problem encountered out. Luckily, off 900 systems sent out recently, that was the only one claimed to be damaged by AusPost, but we've sorted out anyway. We are providing him with a brand new at our cost. If you do strongly believe the one you are going to purchase would be damaged, we suggest you to purchase locally. Thank you for involvement.

      • +5

Sorry.. dont get me wrong.. I do not think it will be damaged but sometimes things happen.
I am not arguing about the past.. Just want to know if it arrived damaged(and thats a big if) is return postage covered. Which you answered. thanks

        • +2

          Thank you!

        • +2

under the circumstances do you think you should RETHINK your shipping policy
          Maybe get some insurance ?

        • I would say that's an option for the user, as with eBay, you can elect to get insurance at times, the risk is yours. Maybe they should ask their couriers for that option.

        • From my purchases with CPL, I have been able to choose postage with insurance, but my cost went up when I did so. have you tried selecting a different postage method when you check out?

  • +3

    cplonline,
Thanks for posting these deals. I can build my own system but this saves alot of time, at very reasonable prices. I know alot of my friends keep an eye out for your deals.
    Keep up the good work!

    • +2

Hi Jezster, thank you for your comments. We will try our best.

  • I am currently struggling to justify a 3rd PC purchase. Great price though!

  • I like to upgrade the ram and the graphic card but was told by CPL this order can only be processed online and I'm not able to make any customisation….quiet disappointed

    • +1

Hi Ivalice, please email your request to [email protected], see what we can do for you. Thanks.

      • +2

I'm a CPL supporter, but you really need to check your staff! they are not doing you a service thats forsure.

  • +3

Does CPL cover the warranty return shipping in the event of a warranty claim?

    • +1

Normally no, we only offer return-to-base warranty and we will ship back to you at our cost. But if it's DOA, we will cover the cost for return shipping.

      • -2

So if there is a problem 6 months in, we have to spend our money sending it to claim warranty?

        • +3

thats the way it normally goes! (they pay for it to come back to you) though yeah i have seen a few provide you with a return postage or reimburse you…

        • +1

Many online warranty policies are like that.. EDIT: damn got beaten to it ;)

  • It says suitable for most gamers, will this play Planetside 2 on full settings? Thanks

    • +3

      Hi Lucky13,

Off the PS2 website, it says the recommended system specs are as the follow,

      OS - Windows 7
Processor - Intel i5 processor or higher / AMD Phenom II X6 or higher
      Memory - 8 GB RAM
Hard Drive - 15 GB free
Video Memory - 1,024 MB RAM
Video Card - nVidia GeForce GTX 560 series or higher / AMD HD 6870 or higher
      Sound Card - DirectX compatible

I believe it should be OK to run this game smoothly. Please contact their CS team https://help.soe.com/ to double check. Thanks.

    • You should be able to google Planetside 2 benchmark gtx 660 and get a very accurate idea.

Any GTX 660 benchmark won't be using a system different enough from this to make much difference.

    • Planetside 2 on full settings is not 'most gamers'. theres no reason to find flaws with this deal. its a cpl deal, buy at your own risk.

    • PS2 is developed horribly and performance gets worse after every patch.

      • Sony's PS2!

      • Yeah my current computer used to play it alright for a decent amount of time before crashing, now it exits back to windows after 10 mins. So dont bother playing now. But yeah every update it was getting worse. But with my brothers i7 he plays it no probs and it looks great. So would like to upgrade, just so expensive.

  • -1

Why is it that these deals always have nvdia cards (gtx660 in particular) instead of the better performing (at same price) AMD GPUs, such as 7870, 7950, etc?

    • They're fairly close in value these days.

Plus I suspect people buying pre-built systems are more likely to have heard that i7's and Nvidia are "better" but not actually know the details.

Just because an i3 and HD 7950 for the same price would be faster in any game doesn't mean the majority of your customers will know that (and for many buyers, gaming is only intended as a secondary usage).

    • AMD stuttering…

Is someone going to do an MSY comparison?

  • +5

    Prices from MSY

    CPU: Intel i5 4570 225
    MB: Asus H87M-E 95
    RAM: 8GB Kingston 1600MHz 73
    HDD: 1TB WD Blue 7200RPM 68
Graphics: Gigabyte GTX660 OC Metro: Last Light Game Bundle 219
    ODD: Samsung 24X 19
    Case: Thermaltake Chaser A31 USB3.0 98
PSU: Thermaltake Smart Power 550W 80Plus Bronze 85
WTY: Manufacturer Parts Warranty + 3 Year Return to Base Labor Warranty
    Total 882

Customer service still means a lot to me though, if there are warranty hassles i'd just rather buy locally

    • +3

      85.35 shipping to WA, ouch

    • Total 882 + Assembly (the fun part)

      • Pay me the $94 saving and I'll disassemble it for you.

  • Would it be possible for me to pay extra to upgrade the GPU into something else? Also like MSY do you build computer for a fee also?

    Thank you very much

  • Hi CPL,

I have my own graphics card (a 7970 Ghz) but would be very interested in this deal. Would it be at all possible for me to purchase this without the graphics card at a discount, and how much would that be?

I sent you guys an email to [email protected]

    Cheers

    • Not so sure the power-supply here is big enough for a 7970.
You might want to check this out

  • -1

I have alreday emailed you please get back to me ASAP thanks

  • Could you check your email please? I don't want to miss out on this deal and I'm sure you don't want to miss out on a customer

    • I've sent an email hours ago.. still no reply. Good luck with yours.

    • +2

Sorry, we received a large amount of emails in regards to this offer which we need to process manually. We will try our best to reply ASAP. Thanks.

      • What's the deadline to pay for this deal today? Is it close of business or? Don't really want a slow email response as a reason to miss this deal :(.

        Thanks

        • Hi bumluffa, the deadline is COB which is 6:30PM AEST. Thanks.

    • All emails have been replied. Please check your inbox and may be your junk mail box as well. Thank you all!

  • Is the Graphic Card good enough for high end strategy game such as Company of Heroes 2 or Rome Total War 2 in high setting? Max setting?

  • Dear OP, the power supply is not certified to be compatible with Haswell, http://www.thermaltake.com.au/psu-allseries.aspx
Is there any chance to change it for a certified one? and what would be the options?

    • Would you be able to advise the difference between one that is/is not certified? Are there connectors for Haswell boards that wouldn't be on IB?

    • +1

Hi ghost2K, you can choose any PSU off the list and we will provide you with a quote. Thanks.

      • Ok, thanks.

  • still haven't received my email CPL

    • Hi lvalice, what is your email address?

  • Is this expired I thought it was good til COB 6.30pm. Still thinking about it, is it still on sale? Thanks

    • Maybe they ran out of stock? They have, in the past, unexpired a deal to allow more people to purchase. Might happen for this deal.

      • Ur probly right with them running out of stock. I guess Ill just hold off n c what other deals come up

  • +2

really wanted to buy this however they never replied to my emails about SSD upgrade (checked junk/spam folder)
    quiet disappointed i missed out

    • +1

neged due to them never replying to my emails so was unable to buy

  • +1

Yep same here sent my email but received nothing

  • +1

I neged this deal as I have not only missed out the deal but I think as a customer I deserve better service than this….

  • +3

Disappointing to say the least. After the first blunder would of thought they pick up their game.

  • No e-mail replies, just missed out on a $2,600 sale.

    • +2

No they didn't. They sold every available model hence they expired the bargain. They have incurred no loss. You missed out, not them.

  • +6

I'm guessing CPL gives lower priority to those who want it customized. They have limited units so I guess those who want the pre-made build straight up gets served first. If there's still some leftover at the end of the day, then they'll look at those who want tweaks. That's what I think what happened anyway..
Remember, there's still the BudgetPC build which is essentially the same if you still want this builld, but it's an extra $100. Lets see what happens. Maybe CPL have a few more to give away
