Philips Bodygroom BG2024 $30 @ Shavershop

480

Walked into Shavershop to check out various options for shaving…er…stuff…and lo and behold - half price on this puppy. $30 instore and online (+$10 shipping though). Seen it as low as $39 on OzB before but everywhere seems to have it at ~$60 right now. Not bad for a brick and mortar store. Verdict: almost as close as a razor, as fast as using clippers. Awesome. Now I'm cold :-(

$70 (half price for this model) looks a good deal, going to pick it up. Cheers.

    • Can the other end of that be used to shave your hair?

    • Can anyone that's used this product, or the one OP linked, comment on how well it does the nether regions? I'm getting tired of using a regular razor and soap to do my "trunk".

Also, would this be suitable for my wife or is there a more feminine option available?

      • That's pretty dangerous to shave such a sensitive area using a regular razor right? Especially wet shaving where the skin pores open up…

I've had one for about 3 years now. It's great. And even though it's 100% waterproof and can be used in the shower, my advice is to use it on dry skin as it works better. Oh and definitely get the pro version, the one with two ends.

  • I bought the bodygroom for 29 on sale at HN, was only 2 months ago. Pretty nifty unit

  • Can this be used to shave off bum back and shoulder hair?

  • after trying 5 different shavers over the years (inc. Philips, Braun, Remington), I have never had any luck. Is there something significantly different about this one?

    • I've owned 2 different Bodygrooms. Both broke after a couple of months. Cuts very poorly also.

I bought this at Myer for $47.96 in December last year and have been using it once every 2 to 3 weeks to shave my head bald.
It is a great unit and shaves better than corded hairdresser shavers I have.

Probably need a new blade unit by end of the year for me though and they cost $18.

I would recomend this unit highly.

  • Anything like this that takes AA's?

    • I had this very good Philips one that worked off AA's quite well, no problems until wife dropped it and broke. Have not been able to find it since. It was something around $15 so cheap, although not that powerful for head hair. More for trimming corners and stuff.

  • Ya think this would be good to keep the beard on my face at a consistant short length? (if not.. what do people recommend?)
    Thanks..

    • On your face, as opposed to your knee beard?

        Arse beard?

        • Going by the demographic, I'm going to guess neckbeard?

The iTrim is what I use.

HN had it recently for $64 (marked down from the ludicrous $110) LINK

If money isnt an issue id get a Wahl trimmer, and make sure its a made in usa model. like this one for example:

Yeah, I'd look at a dedicated beard trimmer if I were you. Also FWIW the rep at Shavershop recommended not using this on the face. I've got a Philips Beard Trimmer Pro and it works great.

    • Thanks guys.. I still bought this for the privates! But will check out a dedicated beard trimmer..

  • good find brah

Here is an alternative! Always cracks me up reading the reviews…

  • The upgraded model 2036 for $20 more is worth it imo. Charge time is 1 hour compared to this one at 8 hours. Over a year you will get the difference back in electricity ;).

    • well that depends, obviously what capacity battery, etc. rather than efficiency. Just because something charges quicker does not mean it uses less power because the amperage may be higher.

      • True, I believe the cheaper one is NiMH and the other one is Li-Ion. Both presumably operate up-to 50 hrs.

But the light is on in any event so there must be some saving involved. Convenience is what it comes down to at the end imo.

    • It's actually $30 more for the 2036 model. I don't think the cheaper version would use $30 more in electricity over a year. Mainly for those who forget to charge beforehand.

  • Anyone know when this special ends?

  • Thanks OP. I was wanting to buy this when I went to the states for about the same price but didn't get a chance to. This will keep my other face shaven.

  • Puppy… did someone say puppy

I got it in store, but was told the instore price was basically $39 (as they add on the shipping cost). Still a good deal, without having to wait for the postie ;)

    • I actually purchased this moments ago at The Glen store and was $29.95. Not sure why you were charged $39.00?

    • Uh……what? Why would they add on shipping costs if you're picking it up? It was $29.95 instore for me. That's super weird. I'd call and ask to speak to a manager if I were you. They owe you 10 bucks

    • +1

It's definitely $29.95 instore. It's in their current catalogue as well so they ripped you off if you paid more. Go back and complain. Which store told you this?

    • Only $29.95 in store… just bought from Adelaide Arcade at that price.

  • I'm struggling to find a demo or youtube video demonstrating the closeness of the shave. Anyone have anything? or just your experience in regards to this vs a razor?

    • +2

You're just tring to get me to send you photos of my shaven buttocks, aren't you? Fool me once…

It's a damn close shave - comparable to an electric shaver you'd use on your face. Honestly, the result looks like I've used a disposable razor. I'm definitely happy with it.

      • you got me ;)

        good enough for me, ordered!

        • I'm sure you'll like it mate. My wife couldn't believe it cut so close- she thought I'd used a razor. You can apply serious pressure too and there's no irritation or nicks. It's a cool unit

  • Ordered it last night at 9:30PM and it was already sitting on my desk today before 2PM.
Now, That's what I call super fast/awesome shipping!

  • There's a shop close to me so I decided to drop in and grab one. Price was correct and they were very friendly. Finally have a proper tool for those delicate bits. It's charging now. Hope everything goes well. xD

  • Just noticed these have been cut to $29 neat
    ;)

    • Wonder why they have "New" in big writing when it's the same old model by the looks of it

  • Got mine today

The trim attachment doesnt do a good job, you have to do about 20+ passes with it. Thats the whole reason I bought it, I dont want to shave or it will be itchy when growing back. I just wanted to use it to trim but its pretty useless for that.

    $40 wasted.
