You have to read this FREE unique eBook!!!

My name is Narayana. I was born one month after my father died.

Despite this, I once lived very happily in the Nilgiri Mountains of Southern India. My mother and grandmother took great care of me. They taught me good and true life values. One day my mother was killed - some say she was murdered - I was moved with her brother my uncle to the mighty city of Mumbai.

We had nothing and lived in the great Mumbai Dharavi slum. We did not even have food. My sister worked as a forced prostitute to fund the debts of others. We spent much of our days searching for food in the piles of rubbish.
Mumbai can be a cruel place.

I ran away when I was young, and made my own way in life. Still scavenging on the streets, but I wanted to make things better for my family. After generations of poverty and struggle - I knew that if I worked hard - I could do it.I did not know of the hurdles that would be placed in my way.

Of the murder, the betrayal, and the lack of humanity that existed I would need to discover and overcome all of these if my life was to be worth a single rupee.

But … you know … It was not all bad - I am able to look around me and see the things in life that count the most – the family and good friends that I can trust.

I am a survivor.

And my story is that of a survivor.

yes. It is my book. I am the Brisbane based author
      You will love it.

      • And how much will it be after July 17th?

  • Is this fiction based on a real event, or an actual recounting of events you've been a part of?

    • " Born in NZ, now living and working in Brisbane. Darren had a wide range of life experience and a great level of personal comfort and humour. He enjoys Writing, Judo and Photography."
I take it the book is fiction ?

had a wide range of life experience and a great level of personal comfort and humour

So he doesn't have a great level of personal comfort or humour now? :)

    • The way it is described is misleading. It is fiction.
See herefor the background to the novel.

The first approx 1/3 of the book is real and about my trip, from there I have woven in fiction to tell a story.

Right - it's a bit of a weird read at the start, to be honest. I was expecting a fiction and got what felt like the start of a philosophical journey book. Kinda threw me.

If you leave out one of the Frees as well as the GET IN NOW, you'd have plenty of characters left for the title of your book: The Boy and The Bucket. Deals here name the model of goods being offered so why so shy to write in the title of your book?

    • Appreciate the feedback. Done :-)

  • I ran away when I was young, and made my own way in life. Still scavenging on the streets, but I wanted to make things better for my family. After generations of poverty and struggle - I knew that if I worked hard - I could do it.

Hmm, how many generations does one person experience? Unless Narayana was reborn? :)

Sorry, just teasing you. It easy to use stock phrases without pausing to think exactly what they imply. Or miss that "generations" binds tighter to the pronoun "I" rather than the preceding "my family".

    • If someone tells me this story reveals he is a vampire, he could have lived for generations!

Trolls huh. Always so quick to judge :-)
If you actually read the story you would see that exact question is answered later on.

I'm not sure who you were responding to here, but I certainly hope it wasn't me.
